Yamato HiyoriGeneral info:- Japanese AU version of
Lieselotte Lehmann- Anything between 16 to 24 depending on the story
- Considered pedigree or a pure bred, coming from a long line of nobles and people of high status on both sides of her family
- Is well known on the internet as the Ritual Queen and runs a decently successful documentary style blog on paranormal phenomenons
- Very much a hikikomori, and has spent most of her high school life secluded in her bedroom. The 'story' begins though as she starts up her blog and is forced to go outside in order to get materials and investigate things + dad putting pressure on her to consider marriage
Most common bio: Hiyori and her identical twin sister, Natsuki, came into the world with a diamond studded spoon in their mouth. Born of Yamato Hanzo - a well known banker and inventive business man - and Yoshioka Katsumi - a beauty from a noble and highly respected family - , the girls were utterly spoiled as children, being given everything they could possibly desire and more. Everything was completely perfect in the Yamato family - on the surface.
Hiyori ended up inheriting her mother's curse of seeing demons, monsters and other creatures lurking in the dark, but somehow never got the ability to vanquish or send of the beasts as Katsumi could.
Wanting to spare her defenseless child from all that surrounded them, Katsumi dedicated her life and everything breathing moment to Hiyori, banishing the monsters, soothing her night terrors and kiss away her tears whenever a dark figure showed up in the corner. The result however was Katsumi neglecting her other daughter, the more mild mannered and lady like Natsuki. Hanzo never dared to question Katsumi's strange behaviour, and proceeded to raise Natsuki in his wife's stead, making the twins wildly different as they grew older more due to nurture than nature despite living in the same home.
Hiyori was suddenly left on her own though after her mother's mysterious death in a traffic jam around the girls' 7th birthday. Despite her pleads for help and begging for someone to chase away the monsters she saw, Hiyori never got any help from her family or teachers and was dismissed as simply being traumatized by Katsumi's passing. Turns out mama never told anyone else about the whole 'seeing creatures' thing. OOPS. THAT SUCKS.
Since then Hiyori has been forced to learn how to live with these beasts in her daily routine, with a few monsters like
the Grinning Man never wavering from her side.
In her teens the monsters all became too much to bare for poor Hiyori, and she slowly managed through her tantrums and constant screaming to convince her father to let her seclude herself into their house, opting to only go outside when absolutely necessary.
After a few years of being almost utterly alone with herself and her demons, Hiyori out of boredom and desperation begins to document the strange things happening around her. And strangely enough other people become fascinated with what she has to say and show. With positive reenforcement from an anonymous community full of horror fans, Hiyori dives head first into the world of the occult, and gains a reputation on the internet as the woman who's able to legitimately record all her successful rituals and ghost hunts. She's appropriately nicknamed "the Ritual Queen". But as her audience grows larger, Hiyori grows unsatisfied with doing everything in her home. There's a lot worse things out there than outside, and people ought to know. THIS IS WHERE THE STORY BEGINS... most of the time.
Other problems in Hiyori's life include her papa wanting her to get married and Hiyori telling him to nag Natsuki instead, Ha-Joon - her sister's boyfriend/fiance - making her life a living nightmare with his competitive attitude and dumb face, the Grinning Man dicking her around and having to become friends with actual people. WHAT A NIGHTMARE.
Appearance:- Hiyori got large, round, almost black eyes that tend to be somewhat unnerving if you start too deeply into them, almost like the bottom of a well.
- With utterly flawless and pale skin, Hiyori is perhaps more wax or porcelain like than lively, though her lips and cheeks are always a flushed pink.
- Hiyori and Natsuki both got very dollish features : small pointed chins, delicate lips and soft lines all around, but Hiyori got more puppyfat in her cheeks. A lot of girls would kill to be this cute.
- Hiyori refuses to do like her sister and shy's away from all kinds of dye and hair products. Hiyori's hair is very straight, fairly long, straight tipped and natural black. While always well groomed, she doesn't do much beyond a braid or simple hairclip.
- Our heroine prefers to dress rather conservatively. She doesn't like showing off her body, mostly because she feels highly insecure about her scrawny arms and legs, not to mention her almost translucent stomach and jutting ribs. Despite having been inside her home with barely any exercise and unhealthy eating, there's little to no fat on Hiyori, or any muscle for that matter.
- Colors like purples and greens are things this gal like the best, and Hiyori got a bunch of interestingly colored and patterned blouses to match her preferences.
- Hiyori is
very short. She really wishes she could grab something above the kitchen bench without having to grab a chair first, but this is not the case. Hiyori is also the smallest of the twin pair - because yes there are height differences between identical twins. Much fun poking happens here.
- Do you know what else is really small about Hiyori? Her hands. Omg. Like, seriously; kid sized. It's adorable. She even got chubby fingers! q u q And they're plush as all hell. There's a lot of hand rubbing between her and her father - an affectionate thing of course - , and she finds it super upsetting. It's so charming though.
- Always struggling with sleep, Hiyori tends to look like a racoon or someone highly anemic. Especially in the morning.
Personality:- Uh, not too much to add here. Hiyori is pretty much the same as her European counterpart, Lieselotte. She's bitter, tends to hold a grudge, unbelievably stubborn but playful and curious... YUP.
- Hiyori, strangely enough, is more social than Lieselotte. She takes full advantage of technology and talks regularly to 'friends' and family over Skype, texts her sister a whole bunch and interacts with some communities. Despite refusing to go outside most of the time, she does attempt to seek out like-minded people.
- Living in an era where women aren't so suppressed, Hiyori is perhaps also a bit more headstrong. She'll do things on her own, isn't afraid of making mistakes and refuses to let anyone baby her. She's prideful till the end, and she wants to prove what she's capable of.
Quirks and other info:- Despite having shown her face on her blog and vlogs, nobody has been able to figure out who Hiyori is, or managed to track her down.
- The documentation of the occult is mostly done for her own sake. She doesn't absolutely need to share her life and experience with people, but it's nice and reassuring that others might catch a glimpse of what she sees on a daily basis. It confirms she's not insane. So far she hasn't dared to show her things to her father or anyone else she knows RL. Hiyori is still collecting things that Hanzo can't write off as 'fake' or 'imagined'. By now she's probably hit that quota, but she isn't satisfied just yet.
- Hiyori's relationship with the occult is strange to say the least. While utterly terrified of it, she's also hopelessly in love with playing with forces that are beyond her comprehension. Surviving a ritual isn't only a chance at learning why she sees things, but is also a sport and test of her own character and limits. There's a high chance that Hiyori probably wouldn't be able to stand living without something breething down her neck. She does get one hell of a kick out of cheating death.
- Unlike Lieselotte, Hiyori has no fear of doctors nor a dislike for them due to never having been subjected to an insane asylum.
- BUT MAN CAN'T SHE STAND HER SISTER'S KOREAN BOYFRIEND, HA-JOON! That guys's an aaaaaaaaass. Why, yes indeed he's the AU version of her inlaw, Edward Yorker! NO WONDER HIYORI CAN'T STAND HIS BUTT.
- In the future, Hiyori would like to be a housewife. Something soothing, and slow for once.
- Hiyori's room is pristine at all times and minimalist, with the exception of her video camera and tripod in the corner. Unlike her father, Hiyori prefer a more 'western' style and feel over the traditional Japanese.
