When he thought of all the plans other members of the Negaverse had done in order to gather energy he was shocked his had lasted so long, most didn’t last long and yet his had lasted over a year. He knew it wasn’t just skill which had kept things running, in secret, for this long but a lot of luck had played into it. Anything could have gone wrong; there had even been a slip several months back. He’d gotten greedy and started to draw too much energy when the various items the shop sold would begin their nightly drain. He hadn’t known how much was too much to drain; he hadn’t tinkered with the amount of energy pulled till then. He’d realized the issue when people had started dropping and whispers around the city had started. Before things could get worse, whispers get louder, and a possible panic set in and the white moons followers begin to investigate he’d corrected it. He’d gone back to normal amounts of energy drained.
With things back to normal he’d left it alone for months before he’d recently decided to try again but perhaps up the amount taken slowly so peoples bodies could get used to it, learn to compensate and gain energy back faster. He was hoping to gain more energy while not harming people and thus far it seemed to be working. Maybe some people more tired than usual but if that was the case it wasn’t significant enough to make the news or impact people too much, at least as far as he could tell. It wasn’t as though he kept tabs on everyone who bought the enchanted items from the shop; it was simply impossible. He was going by what he heard from people talking and the lack of anything turning up in the news or on any major social media sites, no hashtags or anything.
Figuring things were still safe, or at least as safe as could be, he was once more tweaking things to up the amount of energy which would be gathered as the process would begin for the night. The shop had already been restocked, new items enchanted; anything not bought from the tea bar was tossed out as was required due to health regulations and the like. The store was set up to open for the next day and he had traveled, on his own, down into the citadel to where the crystal to collect the energy was kept in a small private room far removed from the main areas of foot traffic. He didn’t want anyone interrupting what he was doing or messing with it in some way, this was his project and it was delicate. He didn’t want another incident, especially one which may be larger and more noticeable than the last.
It wasn’t just a simple large, impossible dark, crystal which stood large and imposing in the center of the room. It was standing on a raised dais with a heavy rope around it so no one could touch it, or at least to tell people not to touch it. Aside from that there was something of a control panel, with little dials made from dark crystals and a small lever to pull down its track, to start the night’s energy drain. It was behind this little console that the blond General stood as he pondered upping the amount of energy to drain tonight. After a moment spent pondering it he reached for the dial and turned it up a click before his hand moved for the lever. Moving it up its track he watched the crystal slowly start to glow from its center outward as the room warmed and energy was slowly gathered, more than before. It was time to up things a bit more as it had been, in his opinion, long enough since the last upping of energy gathered.
