When she was done, Nikora had sat back in her seat and beamed proudly at the filled in paper. Like she thought, piece of cake! She looked up after a moment and spotted a classmate waving and she smiled and waved back.

Nikora grinned and scooted her chair a bit closer as well so she could take his note. She read it quickly then wrote him back one, not even trying to be subtle about passing it.
Hi! Thank you and so are you! I would love to be friends! Do you like to play tag?

Nikora kept her eyes on Charmstar as he wrote the note, tail swishing happily behind her seat. When she got it she read it through and quickly made another note back with a pleased look.
Thank you! But I think you are just as pretty! <3 Oh, I don't use my tail for the same reason! Too easy to trip someone with it. Does your wings mean you can fly?

Charmstar looked thoughtful as he read the note, he wasn't sure how honest he wanted to be with his new friend. On the one hand, he could lie and say he was amazing at flying. It would impress her but what if she ended up asking him to show her? On the other hand, he could tell the truth and say he can sort of hover but that was the extent of his capabilities.
In the end, the fallen decided.
They should be able to let me fly. Someday! I can show you when that happens <3 What about your tail? Can you grab and carry stuff with it?
After she read the note, Nikora gave Charmstar an impressed look. One day he would be able to fly and that would be awesome! She swung her tail a few times then curled it around one of her chairs legs as she wrote him a response.
I would like that! I bet you will be even prettier when flying! <3 A bit, I'm still learning how to do it, I can show you some time too =D

His wings fluttered quite happily at what Nikora had written. He was going to ramp up his flying lessons now that he had a bigger goal in mind. He was going to have to make himself stronger too.
That would be lovely! When that time comes, it's a date?
Oh! Her new friend's wings fluttered like a butterfly! Nikora smiled happily and her tail unwound from the chair leg as she read his newest note.
Sure! Does this mean that it would be a date for the flying and a date for me showing you what my tail can do then?

The fallen wasn't too concerned about their teacher discovering that they were passing notes. They hadn't been particularly covert about it since they've both submitted their worksheets. Speaking of, it finally dawned on him that they hadn't formally introduced themselves.
He finished scribbling his response and, just because, added a bit of flourish to the end.
We can have a different date for both those <3 I mean, if you're okay with that? Oh and if your caretaker or parents are okay with that too. I wouldn't want you getting into trouble because of me.
Nikora had honestly forgotten at this point that they were in the class room where others were still working on their assignments, let alone that the teacher might not approve of their note passing.
She was surprised when she got Charmstar's next note and realized the same thin he did, that she hadn't told her pretty friend her name yet! She quickly changed that in her next note.
Sounds good to me <3 I don't think Dad will have a problem with it, he likes to encourage me to make friends ^u^ Will yours be ok with it?

The fallen looked up from the note and gave Nikora a brilliant smile, and his golden wings unfolded behind him in the Nightmare's equivalent of a peacock fanning out its tail. Okay so maybe he was showing off now but it was also an instinctive display of happiness though it was mostly about showing off.
Oh, I don't have parents. I have a caretaker but I'm sure they'll be okay with me going out with my friends. Especially pretty friends like you <3

Nikora giggled when his wings fanned out and waved her tail around happily in response. Maybe later when they weren't in class she would ask if she could touch a feather but for now she would keep to notes.
Oh, I know how that is. Maybe you can meet my Daddy? I've only had him for a little while now so I'm sure he would be happy to meet any pretty friends I have like you! <3

Charmstar's earwings wiggled in response to the tail-waving. He'd never found class this much fun before. He was so glad he managed to make a new friend.
I would like that very much! That makes it 3 dates, then? (;
Nikora watched his ears twitch with fascination. Clearly her new friend made up for not having a tail by being able to move both wings and ears and that was awesome!
