He quietly opened the door into the spare room she used, nudging it closed behind him with his foot. Merric settled onto the bed in the darkened room, a mug of fresh hot tea on the nightstand. He'd brought four blankets and a tub of those cookies she liked. He thought she liked them; he'd seen Nina eat enough of them in the past to be sure they were her favorite.
He nuzzled up into her, pressing his nose into her hair. He felt bad for leaving her alone so much. Too many trips to the Rift and training when his girl needed him the most. He curled around her, petting her hair. He was a terrible boyfriend, unworthy of her, yet somehow she stayed.
"Nina love... I brought you tea, and those cookies you like. And myself. For cuddles, and things." he murmured, nuzzling her hair gently. He didn't like seeing her like this, but he wasn't exactly sure how to help, either.

She was surprised when her bed flattened out again. One of these days she was pretty sure that her indentation would stay in the mattress for how long she stayed in the bed, staring at the empty ceiling. Her hair had grown back to about shoulder length, and she was getting pretty close to chopping it all off again. Maybe this time she would go for a nice buzz cut…something short that wouldn’t get in the way at all. Something that was just…easy to take care of.
She liked things easy. When it was easy, she didn’t have to think…and when she didn’t have to think…she could just sleep more. Sleep was all she liked to do anymore, so…sleep was what she did…about eighteen hours out of the day.
When Merric came into the room, she couldn’t deny that she was surprised. Why, just the other day she had run into Dahlia, and now she was being graced by Merrics presence too? How fortunate she was.
“Thanks. I’m not really hungry though…or thirsty, to be honest…but I appreciate the thought.”
To be honest, Nina didn’t have any real hope that he was there to cuddle. She was pretty sure he was going to stay for a few minutes then disappear for another few months. Since…well. That’s just how life worked.

He sighed softly, rubbing her shoulder gently. Merric wasn't the best with emotions, or a lack of emotion, or anything... really, but he was going to do his best here. He nuzzled her hair, planting soft kisses against her ear and shoulder.
"You sure? It's freshly made and hot.... No? Okay," he said with a squeeze, settling himself in for a long cuddle session.
Sometime later he broke the silence and asked, "Would you like a bath? Might lift your spirits a little." Ideally, she should probably get out of bed, and probably shower. Feeling clean might help her mood. Or help her sleep better. Or something. If not, he'd just lay there and cuddle.

Nina buried her face into Merric’s chest, shaking her head at the question of the shower…because she didn’t…she…there was something she thought she might want…but honestly, she was more afraid to ask than she was to just not get it.
She was quiet for a while and finally sighed, closing her eyes. “Merric. If I were to go back to the White Moon…would you go with me?” It was a lot to ask, and she knew it…but…
But she was so unhappy, what would the harm be? All she really had to do now was to find someone who could help…a royal or someone…
She wanted out of a thing she wasn’t even really...involved in. Not that she would be much involved with order either, but…at least maybe she had a chance of being happy if she left. Maybe. Doubtful, but maybe.

Merric looked at her, blinking. She wanted... to go back? She wanted... to go through that again? She...? Hot anger flared in his chest. White Moon had destroyed her once! What's to say it wouldn't destroy her again!? What if she came out of it and lost herself again?! He couldn't go through that again, he couldn't he wouldn't! He--!
He took a shaking breath in and out, forcing his anger to calm. He rolled back slightly, running a hand through his hair. It was a lot to ask, to ask him to give up everything he'd stood for. Merric glanced at her, steel eyes looking at her green ones.
It was... s**t, he didn't know what to say.
"I..." he sighed, rolling over and pulling her to his chest. "I... I don't know. The Negaverse is all I know. What if you... what if you loose yourself... I... can't loose you again, Nina." He buried his face in her hair, holding her tight.
Yet...
What stake did he have in the Negaverse? He was nothing more than a glorified foot soldier with a starseed problem. And if she was unhappy... he couldn't keep her somewhere she as unhappy.

“I’ll go through another ******** of my memories. And just think of it this way. You never lost Nina. You lost your Odette.” She rested close to him, breathing in his smell, trying to commit his voice to her mind. Maybe she wouldn’t lose that this time, if she was lucky.
“I mean. It’s just a thought. It doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and find a princess today or anything.” Nina rolled over, moving away from Merric and hugging her pillow instead. No, going to find a princess did sound like a lot of effort. Effort that she didn’t really have right now. “Honestly, I’m too tired for that.”
She really was. Everything was too much work. Maybe if she purified…she would just forget all of her depression. Now that was really a life goal if she ever saw one.

"Aw, c'mon Nina that's not what I meant..." he said with a sigh, rolling over and rubbing her shoulder. "All I'm saying is that changing sides one way destroys memories, and I dunno what changing back the other way would do." He sighed again, knowing he was probably ******** the whole thing up royally, and making her feel worse about it. A good boyfriend would simply say "yes dear I'll come with you" but it wasn't that simple, no matter how much she wanted it to be.
He'd have to think about it, think about where he was in the Negaverse and if he'd found a place he couldn't leave. He didn't want to leave her, but Merric also knew that maybe the best thing for her would be for him to give her up. As ******** painful as that thought was, it was a legitament choice.
"I'll think on it, 'kay? I can't give you an answer right now, because if I did, I don't know if I could hold myself to it. I know it's not what you wanna hear, but it's the truth," he said, pressing his lips to her hair behind her ear. A hand stroked her side and hair gently, though he didn't impose himself on her. If she wanted space, she wanted space and his cuddling her wasn't going to make her feel better, clearly.
"But, if you decide to go back, I'll support the decision. I want you to be happy, love. If the White Moon will make you happy, if forgetting all this will make you happy then... I've no right to stop you. I love you, with all my heart, and because of that I won't force you to be somewhere you don't want to be."

“That’s cool. Goodnight, Merric. Sleep well and sweet dreams and all that other stuff.” Nina’s eyes were closed and her hands were clenched into fists, hidden under the pillow she was clutching. He’d support her. Of course he’d support her because he loved her. But would he go with her? Nope. Why would he do that? That would be stupid. Far too much like a perfect love story.
A perfect love story that she did not, and would not ever have.
It didn’t matter.
Nothing mattered.
With a sigh, Nina closed her eyes and let the blissful oblivion of sleep claim her once again.
