Hyperborea was out on patrol as per usual when she felt the ping a nearby chaos aura. It felt like a captain to her. I hope they aren't out looking for a fight or trying to hurt civilians. It'd be nice if I could talk to them maybe get through to them and convince them of the Negaverse's evil. She thought to herself as she moved to intercept them.
As she approached the owner of the aura a heart breaking sight greeted her. She knew the captain, his horrible black uniform a reminder of her failure to save him. "Plou...Ploutonion?!" She finally managed to get out in a choked voice.
His corruption flashed in her mind the horrible feeling of his aura shifting to chaos. The image of a General-Queen with her hand buried into his chest. The feeling of helplessness, of uselessness as she felt watching him fall.
"Ploutonion, it is you right? Do you remember me?" She asked since she knew corruption took away memories she wasn't sure if he would even know who she was anymore.

Oh, no.
Ashanite carried a lot of guilt about his ruse - about lying to Mont Blonc and to Shale, about what might have happened to the people who showed up to "save" him.
Nothing made him feel worse than what had happened to Hyperborea. It certainly wasn't her fault that she'd stepped in to save someone who had no desire to be saved.
"Hyperborea!" He breathed. She was still alive - a reassuring thing, when she was so regularly reckless. "Yes, I remember you," he said. A brief, slightly sarcastic smile. "And yes, that is still my name - no matter how much the Negaverse might wish to take it from me." Not entirely true, but he would cling to it until he couldn't anymore.

Hyperborea let out a sigh of relief. A part of her wanted to rush over and throw her arms around him but she didn't want to make him uncomfortable or upset him like she had Teide so she restrained herself. "Thank Cosmos for that at least." It wasn't much but at least he hadn't been brainwashed yet, he was still himself. He was still a knight even if not in uniform.
"I'm glad." She briefly returned his smile. "So how are you being treated? They aren't hurting you are they?" She asked worriedly. A part of her also wanted to ask if they had made him kill yet but she figured it'd be rude to ask, and she probably didn't want to hear the answer anyways.

She was so sweet. A genuinely good person, in this stupid, terrible war. It was too bad he had to lie to her just like everyone else - Hyperborea was exactly the sort of person who would never keep his secret. She was, in fact, too good for that.
"It's not too terrible," he said, in the way someone spoke when they were severely understating. "I've learned how to fight, by necessity," there was no pretending he wasn't physically different - months of martial arts training had left him far more muscular than he had been when he was Ploutonion, "and I'm...alive. It could be worse."

"That's good, I'm glad you can defend yourself. You look stronger." Training perhaps, it would make sense that the Negaverse wanted their new soldier to be in top form. His tone of response didn't go unnoticed clearly he was being treated badly but if he was uncomfortable confiding in her she wouldn't force the subject.
The next subject on her mind was a tricky subject to broach, purrification. She wondered if he had heard about it, if he has is he scared to try it? Looking around both with her physical senses and her auric senses to make sure there were no unwanted listeners she decided to bring it up in a hushed voice. "You know Ploutonion there are ways out. I know a few royals, they could purify you I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing it. And there are groups that will help you start a new life after that and keep you protected from the Negaverse." She said hoping he would let her help him, Camelot or Polaris or even her own princess if she could reach her could set Ploutonion free from that awful black uniform he was wearing.

"I feel stronger," he admitted, easily. He was proud of the physical progress he'd made - no longer was he slim and weedy; he looked the part of a man growing into being a soldier, even with his ridiculous hairstyle choices.
He was well and accustomed to acting the shift to blatant shaking nervousness when the topic of purificaton was broached, and he took half a step back and firmly shook his head. "I know, I know there are people who could purfy me - but Hype, I can't. They won't just come for me; they'll come for anyone who might have helped me." He laughed, with all the humor of a man going to the Gallows. "General Xenotime staked a claim on me - she does not easily give up what she'd decided is hers." A hand went to the collar at his throat - not to activate it, there was no need, because he wasn't even really lying here. Just to draw attention, in a movement couched as a nervous fidget with the broken Saturn symbol charm.
Let Hype draw her own conclusions about what it might mean.

It was an answer she had honestly been expecting but that didn't mean it didn't make her any less sad to hear it. "Ploutonion please, we are all fighters in this war, you can't worry about other people like that. Please, chaos corrupts everyone. I don't want to see the Negaverse making you do terrible things, you're a good person but chaos will smoother that goodness." She pleaded.
She looked down when he mentioned general claiming him, clenching her fist in anger. "What if she was beaten? What if this Xenotime was beaten, would you try it then?" She asked looking up with a determined look in her eyes.
"Tell me what she looks like." She demanded, already determined to find and defeat this general.

Ashanite swallowed. Wanted to say that was already true, or that it hadn't even had to smother anything, there had never been any goodness to begin with. After all, it had been Ploutonion's plan to deceive everyone, not Ashanite's.
"Don't worry about me," he said, instead, "I'm not -" and he stopped, but the inside of his cheek, like he was stopping himself from saying more than he should. "I'll worry about myself. And everyone else, if I want to. The last thing I want is anyone dying for me." Which was, absolutely, true, ironically enough.
He fixed Hyperborea with an expression of utter shock. "Are you mad? For one thing, Xenotime is just one woman - and for another, there is absolutely no way I'm giving you the information to go after her. I don't care how skilled you think you are, she is a Negaverse General. She can teleport. She can rip your soul out of your chest. Absolutely not. Do not go after her."

Hyperborea dug her heels in. She did appreciate his concern but at the same time she didn't like him treating her like a child who needed to be protected. She was a warrior, she was a fighter who could handle herself. "Exactly she's just a woman. So what if she's a general, she's not a god or even a royal. Generals aren't invincible just because they can teleport and pull starseed. I've fought them before and come out victorious." She retorted in a huff.
After taking a moment to calm herself down she continued. "Ploutonion, that is a dangerous mindset to have. If we give into fear they've won. I've seen a future where I gave into the fear and despair of the Negaverse it was an ugly thing that I want to make sure never comes true." She said, the mark in her eye seeming more noticeable as she spoke.
"Fine if you won't tell me I'll just chase down General auras until I find someone who answers to name Xenotime. Besides I don't like people who claim others like they are possessions." She said with a sigh.

"Hyperborea," Ashanite's voice actually cracked a little with unfalsified emotion. This child, barely in high school, far too young to be fighting, was willing to risk her life for him. That was so many kinds of unacceptable.
"Please. Don't." He said. "If she doesn't kill you, she'll have you corrupted, or turn you into a youma. I've seen her do it to other people. She'll do it to you without hesitation." He took a step back, shaking his head.
"It's too late for me. Keep your own hope alive, but just..." He shook his head. "Stop expecting to be able to save me. And don't pick fights with Generals, fort he love of whatever you find holy, it is absolutely not worth it."

"I told you Ploutonion, I won't give into fear, no matter how dangerous my opponent is I'll face them. Besides if she really does like turning people into monsters then thats all the more reason for me to find her. That's a sin I just cannot forgive." She said back.
"My own hope died a long time ago, all I have left is the hope of others." She answered honestly.
"I want to save you Ploutonion, but that isn't the point. The point is showing those connards that they can't just do what they please with other people, there has to be a price to pay for that. It's for what I find 'holy' that I will fight with whoever I need to, be they Generals or otherwise." She said in a tone that indicated this was not up for discussion, he couldn't stop her. Even if this did not convince him to purify she would fight this General.

"It's not giving into fear," Ashanite said, "it's being rational - never mind." He pinched the bridge of his nose, briefly, and then shook his head. "You're going to do this no matter what I say, aren't you?" He sounded rather fond, and he was - Hyperborea was mad and brave, and he admired that. He had not been brave for a very, very long time.
"Just..." He sighed. "When you do face her, since apparently you're quite determined, run if it gets bad. That's not cowardice, it's sense - better to live and fight another day, yes?"

She smiled, happy that her point had gotten through to him. There was no stopping her when she felt determined like this. "Pretty much." She answered cheerfully.
"Don't worry I'm not stupid, I know my limits and my magic is very good at getting me out of tough situations if I need to." She promised, she wasn't about to die for no reason, not while she could still do some good.
"Anyways, it was good to see you doing well. But I should probably get back to patrolling and let you get back to your night. Au revoir." she said as she turned to leave.
