Sanele sat at her camp and fixed her torn sandles while she waited for her lunch to finish cooking. Her new teacher had been leaving her on her own more and more lately, letting her stumble and fail and learn on her own while he sat by and cackled. It was so irritating! She wasn't ready to fight Janarim! She just wanted to train them! Or capture them... but he only had few pieces of advice and only after she tried something and failed. Like this latest one; he'd just asked her what she'd done wrong instead of pointing it out! Mind you the method was working and she was getting better,... but it was just so irritating!

So here she was, in the middle of no where, and wanting to talk to someone other than her crazy teacher.

Solari sighed heavily as she angrily kicked up some sand. She wanted to get away from this godforsaken place, return to Matori and never have to return to Oba. She hated the place, its people, hated everything about it right down to its sand. Solari wanted pools of water she could spend days just lightly sunbathing and not have to worry about burning to a crisp because the sun was so blaring. Mostly though, she wanted to leave Oba to go and explore not just Matori but the other places and meet a bunch of new people. People that weren’t Obans and looked at her all weird like.

The Matori girl sighed again looking up to see a bit of smoke rising up in the air. A camp? Maybe they had some water for her; she was just about to run out and had been looking for some pool of water she could sue before heading back home. Problem as, the closer she got the more she knew she was going to be met with Obans. These days she didn’t know whether the Obans would chase her away or welcome her. She wasn’t expecting an open arm let’s hug greeting but at least the minimal courteous greeting would have been fine.

If people weren’t working as much, or going to war, they’d all probably be happier. Solari finally made it to camp and glanced around.

“Hi,” Right to the point no time to diddly dadle. Solari stuck her hands into her pocket and tried to look casual. “So, got any water?”

Sanele Looked up when she heard something approaching. It was too loud to be an animal but she still reached for her whip... a person out in the wilderness could be a danger too! She raised an eyebrow at the blunt request.

"I do.. but not enough to share." She responded. "Not with someone who just barges in like that at least." She eyed the matori girl; was this a trap or did the girl really need water?

"You got a name girl?" She didn't mind company to be honest.. unless it was by someone who was going to try and guilt her based on the fact she was oban and her people had enslaved the matori. She'd met matorians like that... and it pissed her off as much as the nobles did. It wasn't like she or her family ever had slaves! That required wealth which they'd never had.

Never enough to share. Solari all but rolled her eyes; her mom was always telling her not to do so. It was rude. Solari simply couldn’t help it, so she sighed loudly completely ignoring the fact that she had indeed barged in. How was she supposed to know she’d find an Oban out here?

“Well what’s new right?” Solari said with a shrug before glancing around the camp. She couldn’t wait to get out of this heat hole, back to Matori and find her roots there. Be ride of the Obans for a good while would do her well. Very well indeed.

“Solari,” did she truly want to know the woman’s name? “You?” It would be rude fi she didn’t ask, or so her mother reminded her. “I keep forgetting my manners.” The Matori made a what-can-you-do face before pointing down. “Can I sit for a bit? It’s tiring standing and I’ve been walking forever.” Not really, but she was lazy and she didn’t really like standing around. Better to sit and relax, stretch out her legs, maybe catch a nap or something if the woman let her. Or maybe that wouldn’t be safe.

“What are you doing out here by yourself anyways?”

Drac cam back and like.. woke up all my muses.. she is magic!

Sanele chuckled; "Forgettin' your manners? I'd say!" She was rather amused by it.. and respected the matori girl for being so confident and upfront with one who had subjugated her race (not that Sanele or her family ever had slaves but still.. no way for this girl to know!)

"Sanele's my name and this is Czar." She pointed her thumb at the perzi sleeping half buried int he desert sand behind her. "Go ahead and sit.. I'll share some with you but it ain't going to be much! Not much of a wilderness girl and no real knowledge of hunting so.. is gonna be some simple stew." She was a city girl but she was learning how to hunt... mostly from stealing from the janarim kills actually! She found it rather amusing though less so when a janarim was chasing her away from its kill!

"Out learning." She made an icky face. "Boss decided it'd be good for me to learn about janarim for some reason... I'd rather be learning more about xaraan." She sighed; janarim were annoying! Give her the sleek speed of a Xaraan any day! "What about you? SHe was warming a bit up.. the girl had a splunky attitude! Sanele always liked that in a person.

Maybe Solari was forgetting her manners, maybe she wasn’t. The Matori girl shrugged. Taking the cue, she lowered herself and settled on the ground leaning back on her arms with her legs outstretched before her. Ah yes, that felt better. She was even stew out of this deal, nothing better than that! She knew the Oban had to have some water or food hidden around here somewhere, just needed a bit of coxing to come out.

“It’s nice to meet you Sanele.” She eyed the sleeping Perzi briefly before focusing on the Oban again.

“You’re out learning about Janarim?” Why would any want to be out learning anything in this gods forsaken desert? “I’m definitely not learning about Janarim.” Solari made a face. “I’m just biding my time until I can get out of Oba and back in Matori. I want to go back to my roots a bit before traveling. Have you ever travelled?” This Sanele seemed to be quite interested in familiars, maybe she had travelled and seen a bunch in other places.

Sanele laughed at the others open honesty.

"Well.. iffn you want to go to Matori you're in the wrong area for it! Head south... you're closer to Tale than Matori right now! And I agree with you.. I'd rather be back at the farm helping with the Xaraan and racing... but boss says I gotta so I gotta." She scrunched up her nose as she handed the other a bowl of stew. "I'm a city girl.. not someone who's used to being out here all day long! I like my baths and bed... And nah.. This is the farthest I've been from home myself."

Of course she had plans to travel! She was going to head to the furthest northern land, that ZZena place the interesting Kyelt had come from, to tame things and bring them back! If she got enough she cold make a farm here and sell them for ridiculous prices before the other hunters got there. She was mostly aiming for fame in racing, and a xaraan farm of her own.. but a small side business of breeidng exotic animals sounded interesting and lucrative! Both things Sanelel loved.

"If you're trying to get to Matori why head this way? Or were you enslaved further north on the edges of Oba?" Sanele had no issues or embarrassment towards what her people had done. It happened.. it was disgusting if you asked her, but it'd happened. No sense in trying to hide it!

“Oh I know, I’m just bidding my time. Soon I’ll be out of here.” Solari grabbed the offered bowl and dug in. “Not bad.” She commented between mouthfuls as she listened to Sanele. She was a city girl too, but hadn’t been much out of the wild to know what she enjoyed better. In Matori things would be different, she couldn’t enjoy the same luxury she was here but that wouldn’t stop her. She wanted to live as purely Matorian as she could before traveling again. Find those roots before moving on to the other places of the world.

“Ha no,” Solari made a pfft sound. “I’m from the capitol, my mother just sent me on an errand. Our old master, which she insists to call boss now, needed some special herbs or whatever have you. The guys some hot shot medical man with needles.” She didn’t hate the guy or his family; she just wasn’t too keen on working for someone who she used to call master. “I’ll be out of there in no time, been saving quite a bit to be able to travel. You won’t catch me dead in the capitol for many many years from now.”

“So how come you’re a city girl but want to race Xaraan?” It was curious, how did one go from city woman to farmer.

"Thanks. We all took turns at allt he chores back home. I rather liked cooking; its better than cleaning!" Sanele said in an amused tone. Mostly since she had to clean up after animals all day she didn't like having to go home and clean up after her siblings! She couldn't wait some times till she got her own place.. but she knew she'd miss her family and neighbors.

"You stuck with your old master?" Sanele looked a bit shocked. "I thought life was all doom, gloom, and pain for your type in our cities!" Matori didn't live on her street; slaves meant you had to have money to buy and support them! And no one near her had that amount of free cash. "Capitol ain't so bad... its where the jobs are frankly. And as for racing..." She laughed.

"Racing is done in the cities! Training and breeding em is done out in the boonies but racing is where people can see, cheer you on, pay for your beers after the race!" Her red eyes gleamed happily. "I grew up watching the big time races.... we'd scrape together as a family till we could pay for one race a week; but no matter what we went and cheered on our racers. Supported our favorites... " She smiled nostalgically. And now? Now she was the one racing! Small time races to be sure.. but one day. one day she'd race int eh big races and win! Then she'd retire after a while and have her own farm and breed her beloved xaraan and train them.

“I’d rather be eating than cooking honestly.” Solari wasn’t one for chores and she thought helping her mom with anything was a chore… Solari was lazy, extremely lazy and didn’t want anything to do with anything that made her active. “Only kind of cooking I like to do is the kind where you make something sugary.” And even then, she’d much rather buy the damn candy then make it herself. Or at least get someone else to help her and make things quicker if she had to do anything. It was quite pitiful but the Matori didn’t care, she was who she was and you either accepted or didn’t, she didn’t care either way.

“Our master is about as lazy as I am, couldn’t even put on his pants by himself,” Solari huffed. “No, at least now we’re paid and have much more freedom.” The money was nice; she just wished she didn’t have to be so close to the guy. “I’ll be leaving soon so I don’t give a Radaku’s a** about him except for the money. Plus, most of the time all I do is get medical herbs at the market or take care of our herb garden.” She had it pretty easy if anyone was to ask her.

“Well I wish you luck with that lot,” Solari made a face. “Nobles always got the best and prettiest things around.” The Matori shrugged. “But I do wish you the best.” She didn’t know much about racing or how it was done, Sanele’s explanation made it seem like it was a tedious thing to do. “Are you racing now?” Hopefully she was making enough money to get by now.

Sanele made a disgusted face; "Useless people! Best thing to ever happen to those lazy rich bastards was loosing that war!" Sanele didn't think much of people who relied upon others to do the very basics; everyone should know how to cook, clean, and dress themselves. If you couldn't upkeep something like your own clothing or hair by yourself you obviously didn't need them! "I'd say get outta there as fast as possible; sounds like that guy is just paying you as little as possible to keep you as you were.

She grinned at the good wishes; "I got lucky. My warrior sis came back with a husband from the war. His family own and runs a Xaraan farm... managed to worm my way in and now I'm learning how to run a Xaraan ranch and race as well! But I would have gotten in later in life anyways.. Or do what I am doing now: learning in the wild how to capture animals. Probably wouldn't have lead to a racing career like my life has now, but I would still be working with Xaraan!" She put her bowl down and leaned back to relax against her rolled up bedroll.

"I'm racing in the smaller races.. not the big stage like I want.. but that'll come in time."Her eyes gleamed and she grinned savagely. "I ain't letting the pampered merchant and noble brats keep my from winning races and earning my way into the big time races!" They had money nad more time to practice than she did.... but she had her drive and stubbornness to keep her going. Plus she had a good xaraan to race with now! She was certain she'd win and make her way into the big stage this year!

As soon as Sanele spoke of the war, Solari began laughing and not just a simple haha. It was a large and loud laugh with slap of the knee included. That was simply the funniest thing she’d ever heard coming from an Oban and boy was Sanele right! Useless bastards! It brought tears to the corner of her eyes and when Solari finally began to settle down she wiped them away. “Yea the man’s an idiot but I still have a little ways to go before I leave. Soon though. Very soon.” All good things would come to be, she just needed to give it a bit more time.

“Sounds like a nice and cozy life,” Solari nodded approvingly. “I only far mine will get more complicated once I leave.” She sighed, she didn’t really know if it was going to get complicated or not. However, if she continued with the line of work she wanted to do… She was going to have to put in a bit of sweat and time into it. But Solari would rather not think about such a thing, not yet at least.

“I’m sure you’ll make it there.” Solari wondered if the races were rigged. “Well if you’re ever looking for something special like some nice breeding Xaraan or something, then don’t hesitate to let me know.” Soalri grinned. “I’ve got fast hands so to speak.” She wondered how hard it would be to steal such a beast; she’d never stolen something so big before… Maybe she’d make a good name for herself for stealing such a thing. Solari chuckled, dreaming about how to steal beasts and if it was something she would do if paid good money. She’d even give Sanele her first steal for free.

post 7-pokes dun forget this one <3

Sanele nodded in approval: here was a fellow hard worker who was working towards a dream! "It'll come.... I wouldn't have been hired despite the in law connection if I hadn't worked hard and proven myself. Might take a while but hard work will make it come true." There would be set backs, side trips.. but Sanele always believed if you focused and worked hard you could achieve anything! Look at what she'd managed to do! From poor slum kid to a xaraan ranch worker and xaraan racer! And now she was becoming a tamer of wild beasts and soon she'd own her own farm! One day, after she made enough money from racing or training.

"It ain't easy being poor... hunger's never a cozy friend. My family had to work hard to keep the house warm and food on the table." Sanele made a face. Not all obans were wealthy and had cushy lives!

Her friendly feeling vanished rather quickly at the mention of "fast hands." Oh she knew what that meant...
"I don't need stolen goods." She growled. "I can make it on my own without taking from others! People worked hard for those xaraans and stealing ain't doing them nor yourself a favor! First off: Xaraan don't follow just anybody. They're loyal. You'd lose a hand for doing so.. and a Matorian getting caught stealing? Ain't no soft sentence for you girl... Best you toss ideas of theft out of your mind and focus on legal ways to get money. Ways that don't get you killed or tossed in jail."

She knew of thieves and stuff like that: the poor often were reduced to theft to keep themselves fed. It never ended well from what she saw. All you did was take from those who couldn't afford it really: unless you were really good and could get by the guards the rich had! She disliked the idea intensely: theft was simply taking others hard work! Not working hard yourself!
PostPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2016 7:02 am

Solari was not of the same mind when it came to hard work and how to go about it but she let Sanele speak only nodding to confirm that she was listening to her. If anything, Solari seemed to be the opposite of Sanele in the hard working category. The Oban liked to work, the Matori… Not so much. They were perfect opposites, fire and water. Granted she did know many Obans who were not like Sanele and many Matori who were not like Solari but it was an interesting observation in that moment none the less.

“I’m just offering,” Solari held her hands up. She was well aware of the sentence of a Matorian getting caught stealing, but she didn’t plan on getting caught. Though she felt that Sanele was wrong about one thing, stealing a Xaraan, considering how hard she was making them out to be to steal to begin with, would give her a nice reputation. Maybe she would try it, just to see how far she’d make it. Of course if anything went wrong or it was too hard she’d simply ditch the idea, but it was something she was going to be keeping in mind.

“Just don’t put it past those rich little turds to use their own not so nice ways to win or gain things. The nobles are as sleazy as their riches.”

Sanele eyed the other then shrugged. Solari probably knew about the dangers already! And it wasn't her place to lecture her.

"Just cause others do it doesn't mean you should. I do things my way;: with hard work and effort. That way at the end of the day I can be proud of what I achieved without resorting to less honorable ways. Not that I'm above using dirty tactics against those who try to cheat me... But I don't do it first. Leaves a bad after taste."

She waited a bit and ate since the food was cooled. "So other than theft you do anything? Cause there's not much to steal out here." Why was someone who was a thief.. or had tendencies towards stealing, out in the wilderness?
