It'd been a few months since Polaris had returned to Destiny City and slowly but surely she'd fallen back into the groove of senshi life. She'd fought youma and ran off Negaverse agents, helped try and save some people from some.. strange Negaverse mission at the train station, reconnected with old friends and made new ones, found a new knight and better connected with some of her other knights. Piled on top of school and wedding planning it made her plate pretty full, but in a way she liked it. Being busy left less time to worry and it made her feel productive, even if in the scheme of things her actions had probably not even made a ripple in the amount of Chaos in Destiny City.

The invitation she'd sent to Europa to patrol together for a night had been genuine. It'd been a little while since they'd gotten together and a patrol together could be fun! The two of them were strong and experienced enough to do some real damage should they happen across some Chaos this evening, but Polaris also liked the idea of chatting with her old friend again too. Maybe a little about what had been going on senshi wise. But more likely just general prattling about wedding planning and life in general.

There was an ulterior motive however, tucked away under the general invitation and desire for evening companionship. A bit of advice Polaris was hoping for, if she was brave enough to actually voice it when the time came. From one wife to one... soon to be wife.

The senshi of magnetism was trying not to think about that ulterior motive though as she waited at their meeting spot, ridiculous early as per usual.

Europa landed neatly beside Polaris, her knees bending only slightly to absorb the force of her jump. After spending most of her teenaged years accidentally falling off rooftops, she'd finally gotten at least half good at doing it on purpose. "Hey," she said, giving the other senshi a playful bump with her hip. "Hope you don't mind if I drop in."

Which was probably the worst pun she'd dropped on anyone in, like, a month. She deserved to be strung up by her thumbs and whipped for that one. "Let's get going," she suggested, offering Polaris her arm. "And you can whine at me all you want about how hard wedding planning is. Because, like, just because Oenone and I said eff that and eloped doesn't mean I wasn't up to my eyeballs in it before that."

Sometimes she even wished she'd actually gone through with it! But what was past was past.

"I don't even think I know Nifhlel," she confessed. "Does he have, like, a big family to accommodate? People coming in from out of town?"

Luckily for Europa (or perhaps amusingly) Polaris just so happened to have a terrible sense of humor herself. Lame jokes often being the only ones she could craft, laughing at things that made other people groan. So while she'd been startled by the sudden slap of shoes on the pavement and a presence right beside her, it'd quickly devolved into a round of genuine giggling as her hip was affectionately bumped. "Not at all." It was just a shame she wasn't quick enough to think of her own terribly punny comeback.

She'd only barely composed herself when the arm was offered, her elbow tucking neatly into the other senshi's. Straight to business - a senshi after her own heart. And then Europa offered, genuinely, to listen to her whine and Polaris's heart soared, her arm pinching the other woman's elbow in a tighter affectionate squeeze. "Haaa, you're the best Europa. I feel so bad complaining to the boys when they've been working so hard to fix up things up on Polaris. But seriously planning two weddings is so stressful. Especially since my trip to the bridal show, which would have been SO helpful, was sidelined by a massive youma train." A frumpy pout touched her face momentarily to mirror the frusteration, but it quickly faded - far too excited by the offer to gab.

The senshi was half-hearted searching for chaotic auras, like she'd probably notice if someone tried to sneak up on them maybe, as they set out down the street. But for the most part her attention was on the flood gate that Europa had opened, idly chatting. "Actually his family is pretty tiny.. A grandmother hes very close to. She lives here in Destiny City. And his mom and dad though... his relationship with his dad is a little on the strained side.." Aurora was of the opinion that the whole.. Barren Pines and thinking he was dead had a large part of do with it. Though Azzo always seemed to believe it was just the disconnection of a military father with his more delicate and artistic son.

"My family is the bigger one, what with my five brothers and my stepmother. Plus any of the old family friends and extended relatives back home. So we decided it was best to do the regular wedding in Alaska. Trying to arrange what to do with the ranch would have been a pain anyway and since his parents were coming from Korea well.. they'd have a long flight no matter what."

"So we decided on a fairly small wedding up in Alaska on New Years Eve, about 30 people total, and then the bigger one up on Polaris for New Years Day."

"Later in the day though." She added after a moment with a laugh. "Probably in the early evening so that everyone has enough time to sleep off their New Years Eve festivities." She had never been much of the party type herself, but that didn't make her naive to the fact that many of Destiny City's youth most definitely were. Even the senshi and knights.

Europa nodded, and then pursed her lips as a logical flaw in that plan came to mind. "So you're going to be in Alaska on New Years Eve," she said, "Then come back here, which has got to be like twelve hours of travel time but don't quote me on it because I've never been to Alaska, and ferry everyone to Polaris the next day, when really all you want to do is lie in bed, eat room service, and screw like rabbits?"

She put as gentle a hand as should could on Polaris's forearm.

"I think you need to rethink your time table. A New Years' wedding sounds perfectly romantic," she assured her, laughing gently, "but it also sounds like a really great way to die trying and ruin the entire thing."

If even Sailor Europa, notorious over-achiever that she was, wasn't sure that Polaris was planning was physically possible - then it probably required some rethinking. "I mean, how are you planning to get everyone to space? Because I don't think you're going to want to work too hard on your wedding day."

Like, it was a great idea!!!! But it also sounded really ******** hard to pull off!

Europa's concern brought a soft and grateful look to Polaris face, though it was marred by the slight flinch that followed the words screw like rabbits. Why did it seem like everyone else was always so... open about it like that? That they could easily talk about (often with colorful or downright vulgar terms) and partake in it with such apparent ease. Her brothers and Castor were the worst by far, downright taunting and teasing. But even unintentional things like this - it made her feel so out of touch and abnormal.

She'd had it drilled into her early on that sex was very important and not something to take lightly - or heaven forbid ever do prior to marriage. Thankfully Azzo had never pushed the issue, in fact he seemed just as nervous about the whole thing as she did. Maybe even more so. To the point that in their years and years of dating the closest she'd even gotten to even breast fondling was that one time she'd accidentally stuck them together with her attack.

Laughing a little, to try and push away the discomfort for the time being, she waved her hand mildly.

"It's a trick of times really you see."

It'd actually taken a lot of thought and planning, but Aurora had been pretty pleased with the plan she'd put together. "We really wanted to have the possibility of having the Northern lights visible while we married anyway. And since it's happening at home there wasn't any issue in setting the ceremony at 3 am on the 31st."

"So even after the breakfast reception we can still catch one of the early flights back and be home by a reasonable hour on the 31st. Our families think we're just heading straight off to the honeymoon anyway."

"We'll have almost a full day to sleep in a bit and then work on the last bits of preparations."

"Most of it is going to be done in the week prior before we ever head up to Alaska. Just the food will be left really and a small handful of friends have volunteered to help out."

"It will probably be a little tiring, but a few of my knights have agreed to help with ferrying people up as well, sooo we'll make due. I really love the idea of tying even our.. other selves.. to each other and each other's wonder, but the ceremony on Polaris is just as much about giving everyone a place to meet and celebrate safely. A place for people to make new connections or strength the old ones. Even if it's just one symbol of hope or good things that can happen amidst all the loss and darkness of war." It was a pretty speech, and it actually calmed her down a bit.. until she remembered that half the reason she'd asked Europa out tonight had to deal with that more uncomfortable conversation.

How to brooch it though...

After a few moment's silence she spoke again, her eyes averting from the total lameness that was spilling from her mouth. "Besides. I highly doubt I need to worry about time for... you know."

"We've waited our whole lives, I don't think waiting a few more days is going to kill us."

Europa narrowed her eyes at Polaris... and then decided that she was done attempting to appeal to reason when it came to wedding timetables. Polaris and Niflhel seemed determined to pull this off, and it it turned into a big hot disaster, well, she'd bite her tongue and refrain from saying I told you so.

Honestly, she had to give them points for being romantic.

Anyway, leaving all the logistics talk behind left her with just one thing to focus on. "You mean... you guys are virgins?" Europa asked, managing to sound only slightly incredulous. "I mean. That's really sweet."

Polaris, and the girl underneath the disguise, was a stubborn creature. So while Europa's advice was terribly accurate, and something would inevitably go wrong at some point (as was bound to happen in any overly planned or complicated wedding or event), it wouldn't change much. Hopefully it'd be something minimal and she'd be too wrapped up in the bliss and glow of 'being a wife' to care. The senshi of magnetism would also be the first to admit 'you were right' after the fact, prompted or not.

"Ye..yeah." She admitted as her eyes glanced off in the opposite direction, thankful for the kind reaction, though still terribly embarrassed nonetheless.

"Actually... that's part of why..."

"I was actually kind of hoping..."

Her voice got more quiet with each stammer, until finally her eyes returned to Europa, a flush of color apparent on her cheeks even through her darker skin tone. "I'm so clueless. I don't even know how to prepare for this Europa."

It was true. She had the vague notions that you picked up from health class plus a little more based on literary references and the occasional tv show or movie that she didn't totally turn away from when spicier scenes aired. But it lacking by far.

"I mean what do guys even like? What if I mess up and do a terrible job?" Those questions may or may not have been rhetorical.

As the words streamed out of her in a nervous tizzy she finally took a deep breath, sighing as the final, and perhaps most pressing, concern left her. "I mean we've never even been to.. second base and.. it's not because I'm stopping him or anything. He's just as shy about this whole thing as I am. I so worried I might have to instigate the whole thing and I don't even... "

Words falling flat, not even sure how to finish the statement she simply starred helplessly at her friend, almost begging for mercy.

Europa smiled wider as Polaris worked herself into a tizzy. Finally, when it seemed to her that her friend had suffered enough, she laughed and draped an arm around Polaris's shoulder. "If you have to be an instigator, so what," she said. "You don't have to sit around and wait for him to take that step. Maybe he's trying to be respectful of your boundaries or something."

She shrugged.

"Was the waiting ever something you sat down and talked about?" she asked. "Because that'd kind of make sense."

She wasn't going to go and titillate Polaris with the sordid tales of everything she'd been up to in the last two years - but she thought she could at least give her some decent advice. Just... beginner advice. Keep it vanilla, save the fancy stuff for way later.

Or never. Never was also an option.

"I mean," she said conversationally, "The escalating thing's not hard. Just get to where you usually stop and... keep going. There's a biological imperative to all of it. And as for knowing what he likes - if he's never done it before, there's a good chance he doesn't know. That's good for you - means you can figure it out together."

She pursed her lips, trying to think of whether there was anything else she'd missed, and then added, "Don't worry about being bad at it. It's always kind of clumsy, no matter how much experience you have. It's never like the movies. Stuff's always going to make weird noises an there'll be positions you can't hold and you'll laugh at inappropriate times. That's just how it is."

The embarrassment was still evident on her cheeks, but it was thankfully taken over for the most part by sheer and utter relief as Europa's arm draped around her.

"We didn't really speak about it much. I believe it was more just similar upbringing. His grandparents raised him as much as his parents did so... he's a bit of an old world gentlemen." And she of course had girls only boarding schools and an overly protective father to drill abstinence and 'proper lady-like behavior' into her brain.

As much as she was thankful for the information, Polaris was just as thankful for the gentle way the information was spoken. Europa could have been far more vivid, or used those words that made her want to bury her face in her hands. But she hadn't. Her words simple, informative but polite, and most importantly comforting - pushing away the most ridiculous of her worries. She had always seen sex as an extremely intimate thing, but hearing Europa talk about it made it seem intimate in a different way. Not just two lovers attacking each other in some dance that they knew from.. instinct or practice. But a show of communication and bonding. It might be strange.. but it seemed a little easier and less daunting that way.

Her arms wrapped around Europa's waist, squeezing her in a brief and thankful hug.

"What do you think about lingerie? Everywhere I look I see all these bridal lingeries with lots of layers and straps and things." They were pretty. But maybe a little complicated. But maybe better then just showing up totally naked? Really she was just fishing for any tiny little hints.

Europa laughed. "Well, are you a present for him to unwrap or aren't you?" she asked. Personally, she had very simple tastes in lingerie - basic black and simple lace was classy, timeless, and just a little bit dangerous, but that didn't exactly read bridal.

"You're not going to wear it under your dress," she said, easily recalling the planning that Kaatje had walked her through for a wedding that had never quite happened as planned. "That's what Spanx are for."

"Focus less on the product they're trying to sell you and more on what makes you look good," she suggested. "Do you think it's cute? Does it make your boobs look great? That's what you go with."

At least she was knowledgable about... something, since she was 80% a failure as a senshi.
