Foras had just left his dorm room after an interesting encounter with his roommate Ganymede. The two of them barely spoke honestly. And when they did, it was usually the result of Gany being annoyed with him for one reason or another. There was always the pattern of flashing that went through the blue spots on the Geists face. He didn't really know a whole lot about Geists though, but he did happen to see this one Imp girl that tried to hang out with Gany a lot. So, he was on a quest. A Quest to find a small, blue, Imp girl.
He knew she spent a lot of time out on the playground and that she was super friendly. Hadn't he heard someone say her name before? Lallie? Lisa? No! It was Leilah! Yes, he just had to find her.
It didn't take him too long to arrive at the playground, so many other young freshlings were running around and playing on slides, swings, and the different toy structures in the area. There were some caretakers watching over the freshlings , but for the most part they were left to themselves. The problem was, Leilah was small. She tended to be hidden behind things easily.
Well, he had to start looking at some point. He adjusted his easel under his arm and then carefully plodded out into the playground.

Leilah was indeed out on the playground. At the moment she had found another freshling friend to play on the swings with. She loved the swings, so long as she didn't get too far in the air, she was totally fine. She felt that they were at least safer than slides. Oh goodness, she wouldn't run up a slide against after Ganymede had run off from her. Since then, she'd been reading up a lot about Geists so that she could learn to understand him better. And hopefully bring him out of the box and make him a more likable nightmare. She just wanted him to have friends!
It seemed swing time was over, her new friend Piper had needed to work on some homework for her class tomorrow. So they both slowed down to a stop and Leilah stood up from the swing. "We can play together some more tomorrow after your work!" The demon-grimm hybrid nodded, they both hugged each other, and then went their separate ways.
Now, Leilah needed someone else to hang out with! But who? Her eyes scanned the playground.

Foras didn't have to wander around too long before he spotted the dark color Imp. He saw her hugging another student, was she part Grimm? He'd have to ask about her later as well. He was already interested in meeting fellow hybrids, especially those who were a mix of what he was a mix of as well. And it had been hard to ignore the demon-like horns on her head.
She just so happened to look his way and he waved his hands in her direction. Thankfully she had spotted him. They weren't exactly friend, but that didn't really matter to Leilah he had discovered. Somehow she managed to hang around Gany and enjoy herself. So she was quick to approach him. She looked like she wanted a hug, but between everything that he was carrying that was sort of out of the question. He did flick his tail in her direction however and she sort of linked her's around him anyway.
"You're Leilah right? I have some questions about Geists..." He didn't really know how else to begin this. "And I'm Foras by the way!"

Leilah didn't have to look around for long before someone started to wave her down. A rather colorful freshlings, bright red and soft purple. She thought it was sort of pretty, even if she was puzzled by the mix of traits that adorned his body. She had seen him around before, around Ganymede to be exact! She thought they were roommates maybe? At the very least they were in the same House together.
She walked up to him and attempted a hug, but well, he was hold an easel under one arm and had a backpack over the other shoulder. So she settled for gently wrapping her tail around him instead, she could tell he was part Imp, those ears, so maybe he'd understand. He didn't seem bothered by it in the least.
"Oooo, is this about Ganymede? I've been trying to understand Geists better myself! Ask away Foras!" She gestured toward a nice looking spot under a tree for them to sit down and have a nice little discussion about Geists.

"Well, yes. I suppose." Foras guessed it was pretty obvious who he was talking about He really only knew and was around the one Geist. It certainly wasn't like her had a problem with Geists, but he tended to seek out other freshlings that shared a race with him. Mostly because he was interested in learning more about himself through others.
He followed her over to the tree she had spotted and he sat down and started to unpack his bag. He really did want to paint while they discussed this. He had spent the first half of his day looking for his paint brush so that he could paint. A brush that he now suspected Ganymede had stolen, only to later replace.
"Do you know what their glowing spots mean when they're flashing?" He figured this was a good place to start, since it had been what he was most curious about. While he listened to Leilah talk, he pulled out his paint brushes and some of the different blues he had. If he mixed them just right he thought he could get the right shade of blue.

Leilah settled down next to Foras, curiously watching him pull out this various paint supplies from the bag that had been on his shoulder. She didn't know anyone who liked to paint, so it was kinda of cool to watch him pull out the different shades of blue and consider them as he starts to mix them in one corner of the easel.
She considered for a moment his question, what does the flashing mean? She supposed it could mean any number of things really. "Well, they sort of respond to strong emotions. So like, when they're scared their spots would sort of glow in an 'alarming' manner. But, I think they can glow for many different reasons honestly. It would be up to you to sort of read the situation I would think... I've read some books that say they glow in response to love as well! Geists are totally expressive in a unique way from other nightmares, aren't they cool?" She had certainly been doing her research. Hopefully she was helping Foras to some extent, she really did want to be useful to him. Especially since he was talking about Gany. She wanted nothing more than for Gany to have more friends!

Foras nodded along gently as Leilah spoke, trying to process what she was saying to him. So Geists lit up for different reason in response to strong emotion hm? That certainly explained why Gany would flash when he was annoyed, but the pattern had been different before. Perhaps because he was lying about his paint brush? He was fairly certain his paint brush hand't been in the cup holder before he started searching for it. He would know, it was his favorite!
He was still mixing the blues on the easel when he made his next comment. "I think he might have stolen my favorite paint brush though! He sort of did this...almost panic-like flashing when I 'caught' him putting it back. Not that I said anything. I know he would have lied anyway...." Foras just sighed as he was finally satisfied with the blue on his easel. though first she started to make a dark background, a mix of a deep-blue and black.

Leilah's jaw nearly dropped when Foras mentioned that Gany had stolen something from him. Could it be that Gany really did have feelings for someone out in the big-wide world? She was a little hurt he wasn't her to be honest, she'd been trying so hard to be his friend! Not that she like-liked him or anything. But she'd been trying to be his friend first! Still, this was an interesting development, that is if Gany had stolen something of Foras's because he felt a sort of connection to the other odd freshling. He could have stolen it to get back at him for something, but the fact that he returned it...?
There was a smirk on her face as she leaned in to Foras in order to whisper to him. "Sometimes, Geists steal things from people that they like-like." She pulled away and giggled a little bit, it wasn't oten that she sort of had a chance to gossip like this! What if Gany really did like Foras? Did Gany even understand that he liked Foras? He was sort of a mess when it came to expressing himself, Leilah knew that form first hand experience with the guy.

Foras nearly fell over onto his side when Leilah whispers into his ear. Gany might like him? How did that even make sense! He always seemed annoyed with him, like it was a bother to have him for a roommate. They didn't get along at all and as such Foras had started to spend less and less time inside of the dorm room that they all shared anymore. Part of that was also Foras wanting a more private space to draw and paint, since Ella liked to bring her friends over quite often.
His cheeks were a bit of a brighter shade of red then they were normally and his paintbrush was frozen in his hand, he'd only covered the center of the canvas with the blacks and blues so far. "There's no way Gany feels that way! I don't think so...I mean...Probably not..." He set his paint brush down and crossed his legs as he thought about his dormmate. Gany could be cool if only he tried. He had stuck a turnip in his bed after the Haunted Hallows event, and Foras was still trying to decide what to think about that.
And there was the color of his lights, the wisps are his arms were pretty cool, and he was purple too! Purple was by far Foras's favorite color. He was growing a bit flustered, if Gany really did like him, why didn't he just say something? Ella was just so much easier to understand.... Heck. He barely knew Leilah and already she was easier to understand than Ganymede was!
"Why can't people just say when they like someone?" He had a small frown on his face when he turned to Leilah. He hadn't really meant it as a question-question, more just a statement of fact.

Leilah watched, with a little bit of concern with how Foras reacted to her news. Could it be that maybe Foras liked Ganymede in more than a 'friendship' sort of way. Honestly, they were all too young for this. But her little Imp heart went out to Foras. Geists could be confusing in their own ways.. But Ganymede particularly was a bit of a hard nut to crack. She'd been trying to figure him out for a while now and had still just barely scratched the surface of his underlying personality. So far he just enjoyed running away from her and playing kind of the sand pit...
"It's hard to tell someone you like them! And I'm saying that from personal experience!" Leilah tried to reassure her new friend and placed one of her arms across his shoulder. The two of them were quiet for some time after that. Eventually Foras picked up his paintbrush again and started to resume the piece of work he'd been working on. Eventually she could make out that it was the night sky, but the color of the stars were a very familiar shade a blue.
