    Hello~
I think we need a thread to just casually chat with each other ( :
    So how are you all?

//it's almost like an activity-check topic CX

An activity check we all failed xp

I'm doing well, its been exceptionally busy here.

I've been working on selling & destashing 3/4 of what I own using the Konmarie method. I want to simplify my life & surroundings to focus on things I love and want to pursue / improve.

Thinning & refreshing my entire wardrobe.

I had to repair the chicken coop after the goats broke into it.

I enrolled in an Aromatherapy course I'd been considering. I've studied herbs & herbal remedies since I was a young teen, so I decided to start expanding that interest and put it to better use.

Cramming on my Korean study to prepare for the move back to Korea next year.

And I celebrated my Birthday yesterday. smile
It was a great day, my Husband took me out for coffee & pie for breakfast, gave me some lovely gifts and took me to dinner. heart

How about you? What have you been up to?

Yeah it failed so much CX

But it's this enjoyable kind of busy, right?
Oh never heard about Konmarie method before! Do you have a lot of things to get rid of?

    Aromatherapy course sounds really interesting.
I wanted to learn something about herbs, but can never seem to find time : ( and I don't really know where to start!

So you used to live in Korea? ( :

Late happy birthday! C: Glad you had fun~

Well lately I'm sharing my time between sleeping, eating, uni and drawing my webcomic ( : I don't really have time for anything else haha~

I feel like I've abandoned this guild! Though I want to see more Mori lovers here. I've been distracted with other stuff on Gaia that I've been lacking on checking up on here. ;^;

I've been busy myself as well. Working through the holidays is exhausting. XP

The Konmarie method is, at its simplest, going through and getting rid of anything that doesn't fit the following: Something you use regularly (or relevant to that) or something that you love and brings you joy (even if completely impractical).

I have about as much as any normal household, but I really just want to have so much *less*. I want more space and freedom to just enjoy what I love, unhindered by random clutter that at some point was useful or may be useful or I don't even know why or how we came to own it...

Even sorting through our storage boxes and bins... I've found things I LOVE that I'd not been able to enjoy, because its been packed away or I've been distracted by the daily blah of everything else. So... I just want to purge... Burn it all down. Except for the pretty things... ninja

So far I've sorted about 75% of my wardrobe to get rid off, a collection of kawaii stationary type things I hardly ever touch, craft supplies, pet supplies, ect... and am slowly listing it all for sale online. Which has the added bonus of giving me a little extra funds to put toward gifts & the move... Win win smile

I love herbs, I've been studying them for personal use since I was a young teen. I decided to expand on it a bit and take an aromatherapy course. So far, I'm really enjoying it. smile

Yep, I lived in Korea for about 2 years before, so I'm looking forward to moving back next year. Even though its going to be a massive change again.

What are you studying at Uni? I'd love to read your webcomic sometime. smile

Its not really active yet, so can't really abandon something that hasn't even been discovered yet. wink

I need to try and find some more Mori to invite in.

Oh, I'd have a lot of problems with using this method, as I get emotionally attached to a lot of items- they bring back memories about old times, people and stories CX and I have just TOO MANY of them!

But good that it's working for you! ( : Good luck with selling all those things!

How was it in Korea? Seems you enjoyed it, as you want to move back there.

I'm studying chemistry! ( : and a link to my webcomic is in my sig, so if you want to read it, just click it once you find some time ( : I'd be really happy to hear any comments after that!

As for finding more Mori to invite- I think people would be more likely to join if they see that this guild is already active. So inviting people is one thing, but making more topics (...and actually post something there cx) also should be important ( :

I'm the same way. And I have a lot of little heirlooms, treasures & things. But that is why it does work for me. smile
Most of what I'm getting rid of, are clothes I no longer wear, that don't fit, ect. Dishes I bought from thrift shops to tide over between moves. random things I don't need or use that have no sentimental value. Old paperwork and junk. Boxes of jars I won't be able to use, livestock, pet & garden supplies I can't use in Korea.

Only keeping the things I love : sentimental things or items that bring me joy. And things I regularly use (many of which fall under the first category, like my Great Grandmother's dishes) smile

I loved it, it was a lot of fun. The food was delicious, most people I met were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Lots to see and do without breaking the bank, so nice not to have to drive anywhere...

It had its downside too. I didn't like the general attitude many people have towards pets in public. (taking a dog to many of the parks, even on leash, is prohibited. Ajusshis sometime fuss if they see a dog pee on a public tree (but no one bats an eye when men are vomiting in the streets after binge drinking in the evenings). I have a native Korean breed of dog, and yet even as a small puppy, some people would act afraid of him when I would walk him in public. And that is with a *native* breed. The lack of yards makes the nonsense about pets even more frustrating. I lived in a third floor apartment without an elevator. So potty trips were a pain. That is one thing I'm not looking forward too. And my dog will probably be less than thrilled going from a full acre yard back to an apartment.

I've read through a little bit of the comic, I can already tell there are going to be a quite a few amusing characters. And I laughed out loud (literally) at the "stealing the cat" bit. XD I'm going to continue reading. smile

If you're studying chemistry, you'd probably do great with Aromatherapy. The core of it is learning the chemical components of each oil and how its applied therapeutically and its contraindications, synergies and such. smile

I agree. I'm open to any suggestions for topics, activities and such. And of course, members are welcome to start threads freely too. I will be adding more shop & blog links & wardrobe posts as well.

Also, for anyone else selling off some things for the holidays, I've created a FB sales group that isn't quite so restrictive of what can be listed, as I know many of us have varied taste. "The Crow's Nest"

I think I need to do the same thing 8C my wardrobe is full of things that I last wear 3 years ago. Though I never got rid of them because I can still fit in them OTL
Ohhh it's nice that you're using them, in most houses I've seen old dishes they were just to display CX

Oh, so they don't normally keep dogs as pets? Because if they did, they'd be more used to it?
What breed your dog is? ( :

Thank you : D I'm happy that this bit you've read got you a bit interested CX
Sounds like organic chemistry to me. I try to stay away from organic chemistry haha~

Okay, so I have some ideas C:
    > coding guild home page (adding some art there, colours etc)
    > sewing thread
    > natural remedies thread...? for example, use this and this for cold, and drink those herbs for nice hair.
    > herbs and teas thread!
    > aromatherapy thread? : D
    > books corner, with recommendations and what we've recently read
    > positive thread?
    > music corner?
    > kitchen?

Yeah, most of what I'm removing from my wardrobe no longer fits. Otherwise, it would be much harder to convince myself to part with them. sweatdrop

I'm definitely not the kind of person that uses old things just as decor. A good portion of my kitchen & dining items are vintage and used regularly. Some vintage cast iron, vintage Pyrex mixing bowls & ovenware, fireking & ancho hocking mugs, Hazel Atlas dishes, old tin percolator, tin flour sifters, utensils, ect. I've had some new items too, but they don't last long before breaking or just don't work well. These are all items that have been in use 30+ years without fail, making their way through multiple generations and households. 3nodding

I also have a lot of old linens, lace, clothing, books & periodicals, furniture... I like old stuff. heart One of my favorite pieces of furniture is my Hoosier cabinet, which was a gift from my best friend, you can see some of my dishes in it:

*Small* dogs are common pets, but larger breeds are not as popular and often are more of a status symbol. Pyrenees had started to get trendy due to movies like "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho", but the end result was Pyrs being ditched in shelters or tied out on patios. Dogs are still very much considered disposable possessions in Korea. While living there, it was easier to put together a wardrobe of cute collars, dog clothes and such than it was to find a suitable variety of quality foods and care items. Groomers were more common than vets. In the spot I lived, there were about 8 pet shops and 5 groomers nearby... The nearest vet I was aware of off base was three subway stops away... Surrounded by more groomers & pet shops. And even with all the accessory shops, most didn't carry anything for dogs over 20 lbs. You often had to special order medium - large collars, crates, leashes, potty mats for the apartments or large bags of food (most pet shops only carried 5lb bags). I was fortunate to find a Pet shop owner / groomer who was more than happy to special order anything we needed for our cat, and later our dog (which she helped me find).

My dog, Goryeo (aka Peam), is a Jindo, a Korean breed of hunting / guard dog averaging 40-50 lbs. smile

Why do you avoid natural chemistry?

Those are great ideas. I don't know much about customizing the group page, but I'll look into it and get to work implementing some of the other ideas. smile

Hello and Happy Holidays all!

I have been lurking, which is rude so I had to say hi.

Spent the day with family and friends and got an Enchanted Forest Coloring book by Johanna Basford. It is basically Mori in a coloring book!

    Sorry for the late reply, I haven't realised that you quoted me! ; A;

I need to do the same when I go back home, my wardrobe is full of stuff that no longer fits!

That's nice! Your kitchen must look really nice with all this vintage stuff ( : and yes, items back then were almost unbreakable.
This cabinet is lovely! Adds a really nice, cozy atmosphere!

That's quite sad to hear. It sounds like dogs are treated more like accessories.
    Peam is very beautiful!

Organic chemistry, not natural chemistry, there's a difference ( : Inorganic still can be natural (mineral etc), and organic can be synthesized. And why do I avoid organic chemistry... I don't really like it. I didn't like organic chemistry labs, it was one big chaos to me and I couldn't do stuff at my pace. It was tiring. At the very end of the semester in which we had those labs I was doing 3 synthesis at once in two different rooms to be able to finish it on time.

I'm glad you like them ( : I can code the first page if needed! Can also draw a picture for the banner if you'd like me to- unless we have other, more talented members who'd like to do it ( :
Will take a look at new threads, though possibly after coming back home- need to be careful with transfer here CX
