Abbi was one of the very few people that Scout felt comfortable approaching on the base. Not necessarily because she was afraid of people, but more that she was quiet and didn't often need the interaction from others.
However, something had happened to the twosome that warranted at least a "was I actually dreaming or did that really happen?" conversation. If anything, it could at least be a nice laugh after in that "I had the craziest dream about you" sort of way.
She invited Abbi to the Mist lounge with a text and waited.

If this were any other day, Abbi might have tried to kick open the door to the Mist lounge. Mostly that was because she felt familiar enough with Leslie and Stormy that it would be forgiven if she attempted to do so grandiose a thing as using her foot to open the door, but even then she wouldn't actually attempt it because, well... She was only an inch over five feet, and no one liked kicked down doors... Basically, Abbi just liked pretending she was awesome.
It rarely panned out, especially on days like today when she awoke to a black and white text that transferred to the rest of her life. The dream was articulate and stark in her memory, the feel of metal clear against her waking elbows and knees, the more gentler feel of gloved fingers solid under her memory. At first the teen thinks nothing of it more than an elaborate misunderstanding, she's used to weird dreams and sleeping imaginings on the Island. But when her own reflection in the mirror is not peaches and carrots, she is confused, and clings to the text from Scout with a ferocity she has not felt in months.
"HELLO LADY. I am confuse." Is Abbi's greeting to the Mist lounge, after not kicking down the door or even pretending to to, mostly because she spots Scout and stomps over, a little unsteadily because she's not sold on the old time movie projection of her life.

Scout blinked with owlish eyes the way she always did when Abbi entered a room. Abbi was boisterous and forward; everything that Scout was not. It left Scout a little winded every time.
"Hi ..." She wasn't sure what the stomping and yelling was for (was she mad? Excited? God she just never knew with Abbi). "Confused about what...?"

Now that she was here with Scout staring at her, Abbi wasn't 100% sure where she had been going with that introduction. She wasn't even sure of much anymore. Everything was a little... Well, confusing. Her eyesight had gone monochrome, there was that weird whisper thing that Viveca had just devolved into hissing at, and then Scout had texted her... And oh, yes! That!
The teen scuffed one toe against the floor, focusing on that and wondering whether the Mist floor had always been mist colored. "Uh... Physics. You know, that stuff... Pretty crazy." Abbi had been sure that Scout was in the same dire predicament, but now she looks so composed that that can't have been the case. Sure, she looks startled but Abbi was more used to that. "So, hey what's up?"

Scout raised an eyebrow at Abbi's ... odd response but said nothing. She didn't want to dredge anything unpleasant up to the light.
"Not much ... I had a strange dream I thought you might like to hear ..." It wasn't that odd to share dreams with friends after all. The sort of thing you would laugh about later; I had a dream we were walking crocodiles down the street and your hair was pink. I had a dream we were in space and held hands and you died.
The usual sort of thing, right? "I'm sorry if such a small thing took you away from work ... I should have thought of that ..."

In all honesty it was unimportant, but Abbi still filed way the information that Scout could raise one eyebrow.
At the mention of the dream Abbi immediately throws herself to the floor next to Scout's chair in a state of relief, sighing with the tiniest of notes to further indicate her joy at not being alone. She turns up a tired smile at the woman before she speaks. "We were in space." She doesn't even phrase it as a question, she just assumes. And maybe normally Abbi would have given Scout time to say more about the dream, but the girl knows where the conversation will go. She could play coy, she could probe for more details and then feign astonishment at having the same dream, but Scout is too smart for that.
So Abbi jumps the gun, she scoots closer to the woman so she can idly touch the leg of her chair. "I told you this sort of thing happens a lot." This she says in a smaller voice, quieter because she feels in some way she ought to explain herself and her hurrying forward of their conversation. After all, Abbi gets to be the one who ushers Scout into this part of being a Hunter. It is she who will tell her about what its like to die in a dream, how it will stick with you and haunt your sleep, how even if you know it isn't real doesn't help any. And, though she isn't sure why, that makes Abbi feel a mixture of emotions she doesn't feel like sorting through.

Scout was unsure what Abbi meant by that statement until she sorted through her memory of the dream. Recognition bloomed slowly on her face (Scout did everything slowly, carefully).
"Oh ... so you had the same dream?" she asked. Abbi would have to forgive her ignorance through inexperience and hopefully be patient enough to help Scout sort through it because although for most people dreamwalking and collective consciousness was a regular part of life, for Scout it was all too new.

Normally Abbi is impatient, quick to demand her way, to demand answers, to demand to be treated special. But there is one instance where she will always slow herself and that is with someone new. The memory of being fresh to the Island never leaves her, so she doesn't mind. With a small smile she waits for Scout and nods enthusiastically when the woman finally comes around to understanding.
"Yup! It happens." Her shrug is nonchalant, but her feelings about the situation aren't. "I'm not sure why, but sometimes our consciousness gets transferred..." Remembering their first meeting in the Infirmary, Abbi leaves her words at that and waits to see if there are any questions.

"Oh ..." Scout said, mulling over this new information. There was a tiny pause in conversation as Scout contemplated what that meant. At least there hadn't been anything particularly embarrassing about the dream. Like at least she hadn't been in her underwear or something.
Here she'd been prepared to share a story and maybe a few laughs, but now it had become something a little more complicated. Rather than questions about the dream or the finer details, Scout asked, "What did you think?"

Content to wait, Abbi lightly and noiselessly tapped the floor with her fingertips. Greyscale didn't suit her, she wanted things to go back to full color. At least she could better ignore the whispering with Scout around.
The question makes her look up, blinking at the woman for a moment. That wasn't what she'd expected to be asked and it is Abbi's turn to pause. She looks back at the floor and shrugs after a moment. "It wasn't bad." It had almost been fun! "Probably the best not-real-life experience I've ever had, save for being eaten at the end, yanno..." There had been one dream where things had ended well, where she hadn't been eaten or hurt, but Abbi no longer considers that vision. "More importantly, what do you think?"

Scout listened patiently, watching for signs of something unusual. Some sort of depression or something hidden ...
But unfortunately, Scout was relatively oblivious even when she was trying. Unless Abbi explicitly said something was wrong, "not bad" was going to be the answer she took. "It was stressful," she said truthfully, sagging a little against the couch. After losing Abbi she'd been forced to finish- if dying in outer space counted as "finishing."
"I'm glad we don't operate in space," she said evenly and it was impossible to tell if it was a joke or not. Scout was too neutral to tell.

Scout's reply finally had Abbi moving more than just general fidgeting, here she turned so she could look up at the woman without having to turn her head. "Aw, dude, really?" Though her expression was understanding, a hint of smile tugged at her mouth. "I'm really sorry about that! I kinda enjoyed it... But it reminded me of a game... And I'd done this before..." Not the space ship exactly, but the not-real-life-dream thing...
Assuming Scout was being serious Abbi did nod her head lightly at that. "I guess that's why I wasn't freaked out, yanno? We don't do our missions in space so it was kind of like a vacation!"

"Vacation ..." What an odd thought. That a life or death mission (where Abbi did in fact die) was "vacation." The more she stayed on this island, the more unsure Scout felt about being a hunter at all. Everyone seemed so ready to run headfirst into insane situations ... was it so bad to be a little afraid of it?
She pulled her legs up to her knees, getting a little comfier on the couch. "Well ... at least I wasn't alone I guess. Knowing me I would've stayed in the ship the whole time, scared as heck!" She knocked against the side of her head and gave a half-hearted laugh.

"Maybe not like... A relax on the beach kind of vacation, but just something different for sure!" Maybe her word choice had been poor? But Abbi did like the idea of sci-fi... It had been fun! An adventure! Right up until the dying part.
Hearing Scout open up, even a little, makes Abbi laugh and she feels it safe to nudge her foot gently. "I-D-K about that. I bet if it was just you, you'd be brave!" It wasn't false flattery, Abbi did think very highly of Scout. "What happened after I uh... Left the Space Ship Simulator?"

Scout's eyes widened and she shook her head at the insinuation that she would be brave at something. She wanted to tell the girl that the only reason she'd been brave was Abbi coaxing her out of the ship ... but ....
"Let's see ..." Scout racked her mind for what had happened. "I got my way through the ship, and then started ... downloading some data ... I think ... there was maybe a monster? My suit started breaking and the air went out ..." She made a choking noise and flopped over lightly, trying to indicate how she had died.
She peeked one eye open to see what Abbi thought of her performance. Okay, maybe that had been a bit dorky ...
