There were really just a few things Foras liked to do in his down time; people watching, running around outside, and working on some art. Recently he had started to get into painting He'd been reading some books about mixing colors to create his own unique colors and he had to admit there was something fun about making his own colors and working with a brush. It was totally different from working with pencils or markers. Sometimes it was hard to fix a mistake, but it was not wholly impossible.

He might have been getting a little too enthusiastic about it lately though. The spot around his easel in his dorm room had really become a mess. A mess he was trying to at least contain to what he considered his 'part' of the dorm room. He had started to pick up a little bit. He started by making sure the lids to all of his paints were on tight and then he started to gather up the different brushes. He was still getting used to all the different shapes and sizes.

There was one that he favored though, it was good for both detailing and filling in different spots with colors. It was easily the most used looking of all of his brushes. But, he just couldn't find it. He even bent down to check under his bed. He had hoped he could get his things organized and then maybe take his easel outside to paint. But, without that brush he couldn't even think about getting started.

"Could I have left it somewhere?" He tended to carry a lot of things with him all over the academy grounds. He could have lost it someplace, but the question was where. When was the last time he'd been painting? Yesterday, around lunch time. But he'd been painting in his room then. It simply had to be in here somewhere. She started to rummage around in his bed. Maybe it was there somewhere?

[note: this takes place before Ganymede grew]

Honestly Ganymede had little interest in painting. He preferred pencils, they were a lot easier to control and it was way easier to fix problems. Plus he could sketch things pretty fast with a pencil, but with painting it seemed like it was just a huge ordeal to get even a small thing to look right. If it ever looked right, anyway. Plus the smell of the paint was generally pretty terrible. Which was why he was displeased, very displeased, when Foras began to paint frequently. At first he'd just started leaving the room - which he often did when he was getting frustrated with Foras or Ella - but that quickly became bothersome, especially when he was also working on something.

Between the two of them, Foras was far more tolerable in Ganymede's eyes. At least he didn't bring people over all the time. Ugh. Still, no matter how tolerable Foras may be, the influx of painting was a major source of irritation that simply couldn't go unpunished. So, while he'd been out, Gany had very carefully taken one of his paintbrushes and hidden it for a while. It just so happened to be the one he liked the most. Whoops~

Today it seemed he'd finally noticed that it was missing. It was about time. Gany couldn't help but hide a small self-satisfied grin behind his sketchbook. Served him right for clouding the room with paint smell. He'd knew he'd have to give the paintbrush back, it was just a matter of when...

Perhaps if he ended up being distracted enough by his bed search, he could slide over and stick it in with the rest of his paintbrushes... yes...

Foras was muttering to himself as he searched through his bed. During Haunted Hallows he had received a....considerable amount of plushies form his big Brother. So he had to carefully dig through all of the little nezubat plushies in his search. The one with the blue body and purple wings he took extra care to not allow fall into the floor in his search. It reminded him of a certain roommate of his. However, when it became obvious that his paintbrush wasn't in his bed he gently returned the nezubat to it's place by his pillow and crawled out from the lower bunk.

Ella wasn't in the room at the moment. Only Ganymede was in the room. And while Foras did like Ganymede, he was sort of hard to approach. He rather shyly approached the other boy's bed however. "I don't mean to bother you..." He spoke quietly at first. But after a second to clear his throat he spoke up a bit louder. He was trying to be clearer with his words. Batholith has been helping with that. "Have you seen my paint brush? It's one of the smaller ones. And it had a lot of blue paint on the handle..."

He had hoped by some chance Gany had seen it somewhere. Anything that could help him start looking in the right direction would be useful. He'd be really disappointed if he'd lost it completely. He'd have to ask a caretaker or teacher if he could have a replacement and he had promised not to loose any of them in the first place!

Ganymede had indeed noticed that influx of plushies.. He'd gotten a few himself from the event, but the night was mostly tricks for him...which he'd promptly hidden in Ella and Foras' beds! Poo gummy for Ella, turnip for Foras. Since he wasn't getting his desire of being left alone, he might as well interact with them how he wanted, right? He continued to watch Foras rummage around, mildly interested in the way his wings moved... And his tail. What would that feel like... to have extra limbs...? Hm...

He looked back to his sketchbook as Foras stopped looking in his bed, though. Well, that plan was down the drain. He'd need to look for some other way to put the brush back before accusations came his way... ....regardless of their accuracy.

Oh, but of course, Foras had to start talking to him. Lovely. He glanced up from his sketchbook to stare at him flatly... well, at least he hadn't accused him of stealing the brush just yet. That would probably come later, but this just meant he had more of an opportunity to get it back before the suspicion ever arose! "No, I haven't." He shrugged, then stared past him, towards his bed... and then looked to the bathroom.

"Maybe it's in there." He nodded his head towards it.... maybe he'd take the bait. He washed the brushes in there, didn't he? Maybe? Gany didn't really pay attention to that part.

Ganymede was already so hard to read. Ella was much easier to understand, the girl practically wore her emotion on her sleeves. It was because of that though that she was so easy to understand and interact with. Ganymede on the other hand was a completely different sort of Nightmare. Foras never had any clue what was going on behind that blank stare he gave. He tried to read his expression for anything other then...well nothing.

He couldn't help but look disappointed when Ganymede said he hadn't seen it. What could he have done with it? He looked toward the bathroom though, he did indeed wash his brushes in there. It was possible it had fallen out of the cup and onto the floor.

"Ah, it could be." His tail flicked behind him as he wandered into the bathroom in search of his paintbrush. He looks at the wink first, there was a cup sitting on the back of it that he used to clean out his brushes, but it wasn't in there. He looked in the cabinet underneath and on the floor, but it just didn't seem to be anywhere. And it had been such a good suggestion too...

he started to head out, his head hung low as he wondered what in the world could have happened to it. How long had it been missing...?

Ganymede liked to think of himself as easy to understand. However he didn't seem to grasp that a lack of facial expressions and a monotone voice made it incredibly hard for people to interpret what he was feeling, regardless of the body language he employed! But, he preferred it to people like Ella who showed everything, and while Foras wasn't quite so transparent he sure showed a lot more emotion than Gany was up for. Just that look of disappointment was more than he was interested in seeing. And why did it tug at the back of his mind?

He watched as Foras headed into the bathroom, waiting until he was completely out of sight before he slid off of his bed. He set the sketchbook aside, then quickly retrieved the paintbrush from its hiding spot under one of Rubelite's treat packages. Paintbrush in hand, he then quietly made his way over to Foras's easel to quickly slip the paintbrush into the holder with all of the others -- so far so good --

Except Foras hadn't taken as long in there as he had expected him to. Gany was only half way back to his bed by the time Foras emerged from the bathroom. Crap. Despite his best attempts to control it, his tendrils spiked a bit in alarm and a ripple of light went through his markings. Maybe if he didn't say anything Foras wouldn't catch on...? He could always lie....

As Foras reentered the bedroom he was a little surprised to see Gany out of bed. He couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow in the direction of the Geist, which became and even more intense look when the flash of light ran through the light blue spots and markings on him. That was definitely not something he had seen before, except maybe when Gany was annoyed. Except, for some reason he didn't quite look....annoyed. There was a bit of a difference in the way the colors had flashed in annoyance and the way they had just flashed now.

"Um...are you okay...?" He didn't know what could have caused that. In fact, he knew so little about Geists, only what they had been taught about their history in class. He didn't really know about them on an individual level at all. Something that he really ought to consider learning about, since one of his dear roommates was one. It had been sort of...pretty in it's own way. The way the blues glowed for a moment.

"You're not...sick are you?" Foras crossed his arms in front of him, keeping his eyes glued to Gany. Maybe he could see that 'light show' again.

He blinked, momentarily forgetting to guard his appearance. Foras... didn't figure it out. Thank the Nine. Another little ripple went through him, lingering flashes to signal relief across his face even if his expression didn't change. Honestly if someone could figure out what his light patterns were, he really was easy to read. Still, he was quite pleased that Foras hadn't caught on.

"What?" He shifted, trying not to look too suspicious. This was new territory, after all. He hadn't had someone ask if he was sick during a stolen item return before. "No, I'm not sick. Why would you think that?" He rolled his eyes, this time actually forcing an annoyed series of flashes - he had to maintain appearances, after all. This would definitely be a question that earned annoyance!

There was another light show, this time Foras watched. It was probably obvious that Foras was observing Ganymede rather intently. It was different again. They were all different in their own subtle ways. So was that one caused by something else? Did Geists even glow when they were sick? He had absolutely no idea. He'd have to talk to someone about this...

And then the flashes that he was familiar with. Foras unwrapped his arms and placed his hands on his hips at that point. "I'unno...the flashing of your...lights?" It dawned on him then that he had no idea what to call them, was there a specific phrase for them or term? He had no clue, jeez Geists were confusing. If only Gany had been a Fallen, Grimm, Imp, or Demon. Then he might have some sort of idea of how he was feeling at times. Trying to decrepit these flashing lights though were difficult.

"They were just different is all." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Her wandered over to his easel. Maybe if he just watched it for a second he could remember what he'd done with his paint brush. He stood in front of it for a moment, just staring at the blank pages. His tail flicked gently behind him as her tried to think about where it could be.

His tail froze when his eyes wandered down to his other brushes. And right on the outside of the cup was the brush he'd been looking for. Had it been there the whole time? Had he just over looked it. With his back turned to Gany he thought againt abotu just what those lights could have meant before....

He wasn't really sure how he felt about being scrutinized so closely... It was obvious that Foras was staring with the intent to figure something out - though it apparently had nothing to do with the stolen paint brush. Good. He narrowed his eyes a little, this time folding his arms across his chest. "What about that makes it seem like I'd be sick?" He snorted, rolling his eyes at the idea of it. Granted he did sort of glow when he was sick but it was... little fades of light that didn't stand out much.

"Maybe you just haven't been observant." He shrugged, then moved to sit on his bed again. He definitely wasn't going to explain the intricacies of his flashing to anyone - let alone Foras. He picked up his sketchbook and eyed Foras again... ah, he'd found the paintbrush... Now he just had to hope Foras wouldn't put two and two together...

Foras wasn't about to admit it, but he was very observant when it came to his roommates, particularly so with Ganymede. He knew there was something different about the light show he'd seen earlier, but he just didn't know what it was, because he hadn't observed it before.

"Well, I just don't know what they mean I suppose....I'll work on that." Was all he said on the matter. He went to the side of his bed where hi back pack was and then back over to his easel he started to pack up his painting supplies, and tucked his favorite brush behind one of his floppy ears. He folded up the easel then and turned around to face Gany.

He slowly walked up to where he was on his bed and then leaned in just enough to get a good look at the shades of blue on his face. "Alright, that's just the inspiration I needed for today. Enjoy the room." He spun around and skipped out of the room, his wings fluttered letting him hover just a bit in the air as he did so. He was pretty sure he knew what that unique light show had been all about at this point. He needed to talk to someone about Geists though....

On one hand, Gany was relieved he didn't know what the meant yet... but on the other, communication would be so much easier if Foras could read his flashing like other people. Oh well. He grabbed a pencil and started to work on his drawing again, but suddenly Foras was in his face.

He flashing an array of lights in alarm, and leaned back immediately, actually showing a bit of shock on his face for once. "Don't do that!" He huffed, scowling as Foras skipped out of the room. Ugh! How annoying!!
