Luxara catches the new recruits after the jubilee

PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2015 1:03 am
After the talk with Zeffer and Byakko, team space had spent the day at the village in one of the spare hives. It was too long a trek back for them to have traveled back home so it'd been their best option. Now that she'd rested, Tevini felt a bit better from yesterday and while she was irked with Cerpin the redblood kept it to herself. She was a very private troll and didn't think the whole rebel army needed to hear her cry about their problems from the tree tops.

"Here's breakfast." Pulling a box of stale mooncakes from her apron, Tevini had thought ahead about bringing some food rations in case the rebels had made the choice to turn them away. She figured even though they had gotten permission to join and drop by occasionally, the two of them should still try and take care of their meals on their own. Tevini had trouble learning it was okay to rely on others to help her when she needed it. Cerpin was a new thing for her still.

"What? They're still good." The redblood huffed as her partner wilted at the sight. The box was leftover from their purchases at the recent moon festival. Tevini had taken charge of managing the pair's meals with her stingy ways. She'd carefully made sure to get the cheapest groceries and nonperishable food items she could at the crappy stores at the outskirts of Chittentown. Unfortunately, because they'd agreed to go visit the rebels in the swamp, she'd chosen to not buy a whole round of groceries for their trip because how would they store it and carry it around with them? That left her bringing the lightweight and small items that were close to expiring just to clear them out of their stock but not waste any food.

It was a new night and he was filled with energy after the rest in the swamp hive. Walking all the way to Salamire was not easy but slowly his stamina would build to the point where he didn't feel so exhausted when he made the journey. Cerpin couldn't wait to grow bigger as well in order to jog there and back with longer legs. He listened as Tevini rummaged through her apron to pull out a package of mooncakes and cringed at the sight of them. They just didn't look good anymore, maybe they hadn't technically expired but Gog were they close.

"Good idea but no. I think it'd be better to see what the village has been living off of. We should learn how they're sustaining this place." The purpleblood rose to his feet and stretched out his limbs. He really didn't want to eat Tevini's slowly molding mooncakes. Hopefully she would admit his point had some merit and join him in the search for fresher food. He took her hand and led her outside as she grumbled in response. He still wasn't aware of her annoyance at his actions yesterday. Or perhaps he was purposefully not acknowledging it until they left the swamp.

Where to start? The two young trolls began to wander around the village with curious eyes, looking for any familiar faces to show them the ropes. Cerpin had met a few of the officers by now but doubted Zeffer or Byakko were going to be around to give them much help. He hadn't seen Etsali or her gang either by now- just who was in the swamps at the moment?

"There's gotta be someone here with food to share." He scratched at the back of his head as they walked through the small village.

He would rather go hungry than eat those cakes LOL He will buy travel rations from now on if old mooncakes are Tevini's idea of survival food!

They can have wandered wherever Luxara hangs out in the village, just wasn't sure where that was quite yet!

Luxara was in rare form. She was always smiling, usually doing her best to be chipper. There were plenty of positives to living in the Outpost, even with the continuing drama between the War Babes. That was all fine, but the jubilee was absolutely brilliant. She was still glowing, even after the fact. Wow. Wow, what a great outing. Heck, she had learned so much, too. Making moon cakes left her realizing that dough was a wonderful thing, and could even be used in soup for great effect.

And even now, she had just that. Luxara was a local hunter, skinner, butcher, and such, but the main food she could actually make was soup. And with a lot of trolls adapting to living in isolation, plus children growing up with little ability to make food to begin with, her being able to provide anything made her feel like a fortunate member of the rebellion.

Luxara honestly reveled in how much she had to offer.

She stopped in her tracks, pot of soup in hands for local delivery, upon hearing voices. Not like the local kids who have been around for a little while. Interesting. She went off the track, looking around for the source.

"Oh hey!" Luxara called out immediately upon seeing the pair. Tevini and Cerpin, two kids from when they first ran from the assault. Cerpin, the kid who caused some friction. Luxara hadn't seen them for a while, and had only assumed they had fled after some of the drama. If they were back, maybe old wounds were starting to heal.

"You guys are back! Or, er. You left, right? It's been so long, and I would've expected to see you guys more, but... Anyway! How've you kids been?"

          Was that?

"Luxara!" Tevini gasped at the sight of the greenblood. The last time she'd seen the girl was back in the tunnels with a bolt in her stomach. The image was still burned into Tevini's mind when she drifted off to sleep at night, it'd been a chilling reminder that none of them were safe anymore. But now here the archer stood, smiling even. Surprised, the redblood felt a burden lift off her. Her eyes even threatened to cry but she wiped away the starting tears quickly. This was not the time.

"We're fine. It took some time to resettle in Chittentown but he worked out a new place." Tevini answered. She was so relieved to see that the older girl was alive that she didn't even care about the words she was saying. They didn't know each other well, having only met for a few minutes in the battle, but now that they were going to be comrades it was important to take the time to care. It was foreign for Tevini, who'd spent most of her childhood alone in her junkyard.

"Are you alright? Last time I saw you... it was pretty bad." The redblood asked, more interested in learning how Luxara was healing. She also was curious to get a tour of how the village had progressed since they were here last time. The pot of soup in her hands caught her attention too, undoubtedly Cerpin's even more.
