SDRP Member Feature
From its humble beginnings, SDRP has sought to provide roleplayers with thorough mentorship within a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. And, while we are a “school” of sorts, we see our members as more than just students. It isn’t enough to have a passion for the written word or a love for the game; it’s to possess an insatiable desire to improve, to tap into hidden potential, to harness and own the ability to create the impossible. Here, we've witnessed worlds molded, characters fleshed out, and adventures woven more times than we can possibly count--arriving by vehicles of tireless imagination, leaving deep impressions in their wake. They go by many names, but their goal is essentially the same: to tell a story.
But just who are these unsung masters of their craft?
We, at SDRP, would like to finally shed some light on those responsible behind the emerald curtain and show our gratitude by presenting a monthly featurette, dedicated to you, our fellow roleplayers. For we are nothing without you. heart

- Thornwick: Just what is it about roleplaying you enjoy so much?
Tunes14
Roleplaying is like the interactive version of writing. I have always loved to write stories, but when you are the only author, nothing unexpected happens - you control everything. Whereas when you roleplay, it's like having two authors and your characters can surprise each other (or even yourself, sometimes!). You can't predict everything, which adds a new level of excitement!
Thornwick: What are your least favorite genres and why?
Tunes14
Well, I feel a bit out of place whenever there is a large focus on combat, because I just have difficulty coming up with things to have my character do. When I watch combat in a movie, it just looks like a big blur of movement, and in fighting games, I just kind of mash buttons. So when I have to help write a combat scene, I feel a little lost. I prefer "combat" to be political and behind the scenes. But my least favorite genre of all would have to be sci-fi. Technology is completely beyond me - it's like magic that is somehow explained by "science". Since technology is lost on me, I just prefer to stick with magic that is explained by... magic.
Thornwick: Have you learned anything new since joining SDRP?
Tunes14
Not as much as I'd like to. I see a lot of cool stuff on the roster, but I have not gotten the chance to take the classes yet. I think the first thing I really learned about here was the actual literacy levels. I had never considered that before I came here (probably because I found most of my roleplays in chatterbox). What I get most out of SDRP is fun people and interesting roleplay ideas - which are invaluable!
Thornwick: Any future roleplays in development you’d care to share with us?
Tunes14
I tried to plan a roleplay a couple years ago, and it flopped. I tried again, and it flopped again. I tried a couple different plots, but I never managed to get one started. I've come to accept that I don't know what I'm doing and I admire the people who get the things running - because I don't know how they manage! So maybe someday I will be able to throw some ideas of my own out there, but for now, I generally participate in roleplays that other people set up and if I'm lucky, I get there early enough to help add ideas to an already existing plot.
Thornwick: Just for fun: If you could have a theme-song play for you at every waking moment, what would it be? And why?
Tunes14
Woah! You know, with my username, you would think that I would have an answer already planned out for this! But I really don't think I could ever settle for one song. Not only do the songs that I relate to change with my mood or circumstance, but the very genre that I like tends to change with it. I think any song that I listened to for too long would drive me crazy! However, some songs that I relate to most often would be "One Voice" by Billy Gilman, "Crazy" by Simple Plan, and "Dankon" by Jonny M. I usually tend to have them somewhere on my playlist.
Thank you, Tunes14, for indulging us with this interview. For those of you pressing to know more about this month's rising roleplaying star, feel free to stick around and chat! Stay tuned for next month’s member feature. It just might be you!
