Tangled Puppet

Keona found herself starring, for a rather long and drawn out moment, starring out over the sea that they had finally made it to. It had been a while since her last attempt at this, having given up her last trip to help an injured Ataya. That had been a noble pursuit, one that was more then worth abandoning the trip, but she'd made it this time, "Alright, Meir! We've done it! We reached the ocean and we are going to prove once and for all that we can in fact catch a dragon with a fishing pole! Stupid Bi, doesn't think that I can do it." She muttered to herself as she squatted down, setting to work taking everything out of her pack, wanting to get everything set up and ready as soon as possible.

As she put her fishing pole together she said, "This time around we are going to not only catch dragons but we are going to fight them and defeat them! We will bring home a whole pile of Peisio orbs and Bi will see that we didn't just give up on our bet last time."

Sitting down next to her Meir watched for a moment as she put together the fishing rod they had bought back in town, one that a merchant claimed could 'catch anything in the ocean'. Here was to hoping it would actually work, he'd hate to hate to bite someone for swindling his best friend he thought to himself, tail thumping against the hot sand at just the thought. The last thing that he wanted to see was Keona with her feelings hurt. She was so determined to do this whole 'dragon fishing' thing, had been talking about it for days now as she prepared. Giving a little huff he turned to stare at the bag for a moment, then set to swishing his tail. Well, since they were here he might as well try to enjoy himself instead of worrying about swindlers.

That thought in mind Meir buried his head in the pack, grabbing one of the wrapped fish that was meant to be bait, and set to work unwrapping it so he could devour it. Best to do it while Keona was busy with her work, then she might not notice... at least until she went looking for the bait.

Mirela’s claws dug down into the wet sand. Her time on Eowyn had grown longer and longer and she was growing restless. She had expected to be back home by now and yet something was keeping her here. She didn’t want to blame Jijiko and yet she knew that he was part of the reason. Not that she felt any ill will towards him. On the contrary, she didn’t want to leave him. He had turned into a big brother of sorts and she was reluctant to leave. She knew that leaving would mean there would be a chance he would move on to somewhere else (she wouldn’t blame him) and then, when and if she came back, she’d have no clue how to find him again.

She glance down as the tide washed over her paws and huffed. As it eased away, she drew various shapes in the sand with her claws. It was definitely something she’d need to talk about to the older khehora. Perhaps she could talk him into going to Soudul with her? At that thought, Mir’s mood picked up and she turned to leave. It wouldn’t hurt to ask him. And the worst thing he could do is say no. It wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Just as she was about to take off into the air, noises down the bank caught her ear and her gaze jerked to it. Frowning, Mir lowered her head as she saw, first, a magescian and then a khehora. A small growl escaped her lips at the thought of another innocent khehora bonded to a two-legger. Before she realized what was happening, Mir’s body was moving on its own and she was stalking down off the beach, towards the two strangers.

"Alright! All set up!" Keona said, standing up, and showed the pole off to Meir before she spotted the fish he had hanging out of his mouth. Her eyes blinked a couple times before she gave out a squeak, "Meir! That's our bait!" They were going to need that if they wanted to catch a dragon... well, catch bigger fish that would be the pait for a dragon at least. She doubted one tiny fish was going to lure in a dragon, it was more a story of them using the food chain to their advantage when it came to fishing.

Giving a bit of a grin the Kiandri lifted up on his back feet, reaching into his mouth with the other, and then offered the remains of the fish to Keona. As he did so he gave a grin, "Bait?" He offered, before he set to laughing. It was a laugh that only got louder at the look on her face as he dropped the saliva sticky, half eaten fish into her hand.

In fact Keona had gone stock still, starring at the fish, before she set to flailing about. The fish bits went flying through the air, with Meir snagging them out of the air, and swallowing it as Keona set to wiping her hand off on her pants, "Ew, ew, ew! Meir!" She flailed about for a moment more, about to scold the Orakoir for what he'd done... when she spotted another Khehora coming their way. She blinked a couple times, trying to compose herself. Her hand was about as clean as it was going to get and the fish had been finished off by Meir. This just meant that they were down a bit of bait and that she had to wash her hands in the ocean when she had the chance. For the time being though she probably aught to greet the new comer.

After sticking her tongue out at the laughing Meir she looked toward the new Khehora and said, "Good afternoon! Are you here to fish too?" Best to figure out if this one was friendly or if she should be fetching her bow she thought to herself. She hoped not as fighting with another Khehora in front of Meir was really the last thing she wanted to do.

Mirela stopped in her tracks and lowered her head. As rule, she was always wary of two-leggers. When said two-leggers had a khehora in tow, she was even more wary. Because of two-leggers, she was on Eowyn and alone — away from her family. She didn’t much care for those who thought it was ok to steal khehoras and eggs from their homes and parents and then have them as pets. Huffing, she growled low, claws digging into the sand. “I wasn’t fishing,” she said as she huffed out. “Was just looking for alone time.” Her gaze flicked from the two-legger and over to the khehora that seemed to be keeping her company. “You shouldn’t have a bonded. They have families too, you know.”

"Ohhhh... sorry about that, we can always move further down if this is your hanging out alone spot?" She found herself wondering if they had accidently wandered into the other Khehora's territory. That was the last thing that she wanted, not wanted to insult a Khehora, especially not a feral one since they were far from dangerous then those who were bonded to people. At least that was how it was in her experience, "If we stepped into your territory I do apologize, we just sorta headed in as straight a line as we could from Tukyere and ended up here." Given how the desert worked though, with its many dunes, she doubted the line they walked was anywhere close to a straight line.

As the somewhat displeased Khehora continued to speak there was a long moment where Keona looked confused, glancing toward Meir who gave a shrug. After a moment she turned back to the feral Khehora before she said tentetively of, "Do you mean Meir?" She lifted a hand to pat him on the head in a gentle manner before she said, "I am his family, he's a bit like... well, a very scaly little brother since I think he's younger then I am by a few years at least." She couldn't say that she knew his exact age though, could she? Since they didn't quote know they'd ended up having to make up a birthday for him.

Meir looked at Keona as she chattered on about him being her 'little brother' something caused him to give a little huff, not wanting her to see him in that manner. Ah well, he'd worry about that later, for now he should speak up since Keona was missing the most important thing that the other Khehora seemed to be displeased over. Turning to look at the new comer he said, "I'm not bonded to Keo."

I am soooo sorry this took so long for me to get to. OTL

Mirela huffed and wrinkled her nose up as the two-legger continued to talk. It didnt’ matter to her if she thought of the khehora as her family and little brother. A bonded khehora was still a bonded khehora — a slave, in Mir’s opinion. There was not getting around the fact that a two-legger did and could have control over their bonded. Mirela knew that much from what her parents had told her about magescians.

Her gaze jerked over to the khehora when he spoke up, eyes narrowing on the younger male. “Then why are you with her? If you are not bonded...why are you with her instead of your khehora family?”
