• Personality: Jin is a very friendly person, but he also likes to tease and play pranks on others. His jokes and insults aren't serious, however, as he cares deeply about those around him. Believing that humans are very good at lying to hide their true intentions, Jin can also be a very secretive person, if only to avoid being betrayed by someone he thought he trusted. He states that 'people should always be like water, able to morph to fit their surroundings.' It's because of this motto that Jin can be a person's best friend, but also their worst enemy depending on how they treat him.

• Biography: Having grown up in Cianwood City, Johto, Jin always heard a lot of tall tales from the sailors around town. His mother and father both worked at the Safari Zone northwest of Cianwood, and one of Jin's favorite things to do was sneak inside to watch Pokemon frolic. One day, however, a forest fire broke out due to the recklessness of a tourist trainer. Jin was there, and got trapped in the inferno with no means of escaping after trying to confront the reckless tourist. They would have surely died, if not for the strange appearance of a Legendary Pokemon: Suicune. The beast put out the flames by summoning heavy rain, protecting the two humans in the process. Jin was amazed, but he had no time to thank Suicune before the creature strode off and disappeared.

Jin became infatuated with rain, water and Water-types after that. He began catching Pokemon of his own, using them to explore the sea and make new friends. In his spare time, Jin also studied up on Suicune, hoping to come across the beast one day so that he can at least thank it for saving him. Lugia and Kyogre were also creatures of note, but far less so than his childhood hero... Traveling the world, Jin explored nearly every body of water he could find, becoming a renowned explorer in the process. His travels finally lead him to the Pluto region, where the young man figured he could help others to understand the importance of water. Jin became the leader of the Maplewood City Gym, allowing upcoming trainers to challenge him while he studied the Water-type Pokemon of the region.
