Skating/Rollerblading: Ever since Dawn's father taught her to rollerblade at a young age she loved gliding around on wheels or blades. When winter comes you can find her at the ice rink and when summer comes look for her at the skate park or the roller rink. The sense of constant motion, and potential motion when stopped, amuses her and gives her the idea of freedom. Like a bird taking wing, Dawn is now faster and stronger then she was on just two feet. She can race like a horse, glide like a dolphin through water, or dance upon the skates like a bird upon the air.
Animal Lover: Dawn loves animals. She would have so many pets that she could be counted as her own zoo but her parents won’t let her so she only has some fish and a bazillion stuff animals, from pandas to horses, tigers to bears. For every birthday or Christmas a new stuffed animal friend was added. But she does make up for not having any real furry pets by volunteering at the local animal shelter, pet sitting for her neighbors when they go away, and she is the cutest darn dog walker you ever did see... she can walk your cat too if you want.
Activity Books: Dawn is very active and even when she is not outside playing with friends, rollerblading, or playing with the neighbor's dog she has to be doing something entertaining like activity books. Coloring books work too but it’s the activity books that she carries around with her so she has something to do when she is bored and can’t go out to play.
Girl Scout: Camping, cookouts, badges, and more. Girl scouts was Dawn’s mother’s way of giving the active little girl an outlet… she didn't see how much she would get into it or how long it would last. Dawn is determined to get as many of the badges as possible and to ascend the ranks until she is an Ambassador, the highest rank possible. She is already thinking of ways to get the Gold Award, to add to her sash of more than a dozen colorful badges, each one symbolizing an activity or event that she had done. She particularly loved her 'Pets' badge.
Virtues:
Golden Heart - Dawn is very friendly and finds that she hates only one thing in this world... animal abusers. She has no issues going up to a stranger and starting a conversation or dragging a soon to be new friend into a game of tag. She has no real 'best friend' because they are all her 'best friend' even the kid who sits in the corner eating paste. Don't get me wrong, she knows that the world can be a dark and scary place, Dawn just believes that with a little work we can make it a bright and friendly place instead. And it all starts with a 'hello' and a smile.
Friends Forever - Once you become a friend, and it’s not that hard, Dawn will stand by you thick and thin. Did you get a failing grade on your math test? Well Dawn will help you study. Did your cat just die? Dawn will go to the funeral with you and cry just as hard as you do. Do you need a third person for your game? Dawn's your gal. Did you just steal a candy bar from the market? Dawn will scold you for it but will be standing by your side as you go back to pay for it. Are you going on an adventure? Take Dawn, she will help and keep you out of serious trouble... like a broken bone or something.
Be Prepared – Dawn took that line from Girl Scouts to heart and now is one of those ‘go to gals’ if you need a pencil, a safety pin, or a bandanna ask Dawn. Is your fly falling and won’t stay up? Dawn has a safety pin that will help with that. Did you hurt your wrist? Dawn’s bandanna is a handy wrap until you can get to the nurse. Gahhhh! You have a test and left your pencil case at home. Dawn has a dozen she is willing to share. And when she isn’t at school she keeps her trusty Swiss army knife in her pocket and her Survival bracelet, with it’s built in flint and tinder she can get a fire started safely of course, around her ankle. Her hair is normally kept at bay with the trusty bandanna… good for a bandage, sling, makeshift bag, and many other things. And she has a half dozen safety pins normally at the bottom of her pants, skirt, or backpack… good for fixing tears in clothing, pinning the bandanna together, holding up a falling fly or cuff of a pant, and many more things. Dawn likes to think that with her pins, bandanna, bracelet, and knife she could help anyone MacGyver style.
Flaws:
Painfully Blunt – Dawn might know what the meaning of benign is but that doesn’t mean she uses it. If you ask her if those pants make your butt look big she will respond truthfully… yes, yes they do. Don’t ask her if she liked dinner if you don’t want her to be painfully truthful… the broccoli was mushy and the mashed potatoes were chunky but the chicken wasn’t half bad. She won’t sugar coat it but nor will she lie about it. If your drawing is good she will say so although she might point out that the nose is way too long and kind of looks like a foot.
Anything You Can Do – Whatever you do… DO NOT tell Dawn that she can’t do something. If she is not allowed on the monkey bars she will play on them. Can’t play in the mud…. She will be covered with it. Too young to read Dante’s Inferno… you will find her slumped over sleeping when she tries to read it. Is she too young to drive the car?... she will learn even if it's to drive go carts until she is old enough to drive for real. Don’t say it’s for boys because you will find her standing in line to do it… at least once. Baseball, basketball, football, rock climbing, laser tag…. She will do it. She might not be the best at it and she might not be better than you at it but she damn well will do it one way or another.
Like A Rock – Dawn is one determined young lady. Once she has her mind set on something it is nearly impossible for her to change it, and it’s almost not worth it. When Dawn became a vegetarian her mom tried to get her to change her mind…. Forget it. After three months straight of Dawn eating her spaghetti plain, her pancakes without bacon, the vegetable sides served with the meatloaf, the bun from the hot dog, her parents gave up. Dawn is also persistent when it comes to getting her friends to do things the ‘right way’, basically her way, and if they don’t want to she will do it anyway. They are playing freeze tag but only counting to 5 rather than 10? Dawn will speak up and argue about the validity of counting to 10 versus 5. And if they still insist on counting to 5 she will count to 10 anyway or just stop playing. After all it’s no fun playing with people who don’t know how to play it right.
