General debriefing: There's rumours going around that something big is going down at a costume party in Nevada. It's not a black tie affair by any means; most people will be attending in outfits ranging from store bought to custom-made; which will make it easy for any hunters to slip in undercover.

While the whole thing is simply an excuse to get together to celebrate the spirit of All Hallow's Eve, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. There's too much money and bluster going on to not be covering something up, and the tips we've been given only confirm more of the same.

Find out what they're doing, and stop the deal from going down, by any means necessary-- and remember: don't get caught.

* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, and at least one of them must be an Intermediate Trainee.)

MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the main portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 13H.

This mission requires a disguise! Pick out a costume for your hunter, with a way to cover at least half their face! (Makeup and wigs are acceptable!) You can assume the quartermaster has some to borrow, within reason, or they can acquire their own.

Everyone on this mission will have a radio earpiece, super-spy like, so even if you get separated, you'll be able to talk to each other.

Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a BOSS ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics.

1- 20: The ballroom is packed to the brim, and noisy to boot. You manage to listen in to a series of conversations that seem suspicious between two shady figures in a corner. But they catch sight of you, though, and scatter into the crowd, talking into their wrists. Stay alert.

21 - 30: You decide to check out the basement, which takes a bit of lock picking (or breaking). Worry not about security: it looks like someone else has already taken care of that, a glowing red device attached to it, probably feeding it an empty loop. A level down, you find a bunch of crates, filled with familiar runics tinged in red. But you hear someone coming down the hall-- better get back to the party.

31 - 40: Something brushes you as the hors d'oeuvre go by, and it takes a few minutes to realize that a bug has been planted on you. It stays on you until your next roll. After that, you crush it, but... if you said anything, assume it's been compromised. Eyes seem to focus on the back of your neck, but it's impossible to find the source.

41 - 60: It looks like action is about to get started. People start filtering towards the doors, all of them discreet, but you are on the lookout, after all. But tailing one leads you nowhere; a diversionary tactic. Better get back to the hall and try again.

61 - 80: Someone mistakes you for a server, and you get hustled back into the kitchen and loaded up with a plate of food or drinks, and then shoved right back out of the kitchens. To not blow your cover, you need to, well. Serve. Roll 1d10 and get a 7 or above to offload them all. It wasn't for naught, though: you managed to confirm there's a huge deal going down at the stroke of midnight, down in the basement. You better be there, or be square. Or, you know. Fail your mission.

81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER:
- It's time. You've managed to tail someone to the levels far below the party, enough that the din has dulled to a low roar. You can hear yourself think, but you can also hear low murmurings as you approach the site of the deal you've been looking for all night.

It's not creatures of FEAR, you find, but several men and women. And they are armed to the teeth with weapons that glow blood red. The other half of the bargaining party decide that discretion is the better part of valor, and slip out the door, taking only as many goods as they can carry.

The armed figures block off every exit, and every camera has been shorted. There's no one that can hear you scream, and that's fine. You are a hunter, and now, it's time to prove your worth.

- BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a number of humans that have a collective 100 HP. They use red runic weapons, but have no shield. It's numbers they have on their side, and in great excess.

Every time you attack the boss (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back.

After Boss defeat:
Upon the death of the final enemy-- the rest having fled-- you realize they've activated a self destruct button on the crates of supplies they were trying to sell. They'd rather they be destroyed than return to Deus' hands, especially in the wake of the failures of the Delta Event.

The weapons have crumbled to dust in their crates-- but there's still some laying around by the dead bodies. Better take some back to the island.

(Note: You cannot keep these. They will be confiscated upon arrival.)

Roll 1d4 to determine what is dropped
    1. Red runic weighted chains, several links loose.
    2. Red runic daggers, one of them cracked.
    3. A box of red runic bandages, half empty.
    4. A red runic trap gun, with both the trigger and barrel busted.

* 2 mission reward points for completing this successfully

A mission was a mission. Ezekiel was used to them by now, the early morning texts letting him know when and where to be. Today's text had been a little different. Along with the usual information there had been an additional note: find a costume. Something that covered at least half the face. It had been strange enough to have the Mist raising a brow at the message when he'd dragged himself out of bed to look at it.

Then, noticing the location of the mission, couldn't help but laugh.

At the designated time the Mist arrived early, dressed much the same as he had been when he and Ever had headed off for the bright lights of Vegas a week or so prior, but with a few definitive differences. The shirt had short sleeves, showing off the burns that covered his left arm, and that side of his face had been painted up to match. It wasn't the greatest example of Two-face, but it would work well for this, at least.

It was time. Kyle had been wondering for some time now when he would be called upon for a mission. So when he woke up that one morning to find the text with the necessary information waiting for him in his phone, the Sun was stoked. He couldn't wait to see who else was on the team.

He arrived at the meeting place five minutes before the designated time all dressed up as a pirate. A loose cream coloured puffy shirt that showed part of his chest layered with a brown vest and fastened by a leather belt along with a red scarf around the waist. Around his neck was a thick gold medallion necklace that the quartermaster managed to dig up for him along with the see through eyepatch and the red bandana that now complimented his outfit.

Seeing that Ezekiel was already there and dressed up as Two-Face from the Batman series, he smiled and waved to the other hunter. "Nice job. Did you paint that on yourself?"

Ever certainly hadn't put this together by himself; but then, he worked in the Life building, filled with various nerds who had been glad to help out. He already had the near-white hair, and the pants were out of his wardrobe -- but the rest of his Quicksilver costume had been leant to him by someone or other, piecemeal. The two-tone shirt was tight enough to show off the fact that he was really too skinny to be wearing a shirt that tight. The shoes were white with blue stripes down the side. And on top of that were the goggles -- currently pushed back on his head, but when he tugged them down, they'd wipe out most of his face with blue glass.

He blinked at Kyle first [he knew a pirate when he saw one] but Zeke got a raised eyebrow, questioning, as Ever offered the other man a hand.

"I don't know you. Ever Ambrodiel, Life intermediate. And Zeke, what is that supposed to be?"

The Mist offered a smile to Kyle has he wandered up to the lighthouse to join him, shaking his head at the question. "Nope. I'm not nearly this artistic." Not by half. "I had a friend help me."

Ever's appearance was a delightful surprise, and the friendly smile he'd been wearing melted into something closer to a leer as the Lifer wandered up to them and introduced himself to Kyle. Zeke paid enough attention to pop culture to know who the blonde was dressed as, and he wasn't in the least surprised by the quizzical look that was directed his way a moment later.

"Two-face," he answered rather cheerfully. "Villain from Batman."

A trainee with two intermediate hunters. He was starting to feel like a kid raring to go for his first family outing already.

Taking Ever's hand, he shook it firmly before releasing it with a smile. "Pleased to meet you. Kyle Cooke, Sun trainee." Now that the self introduction was over and done with, he observed the leer that Zeke was directing at Ever. It was obvious from the way they spoke that they already knew each other prior to this. Somehow he had a feeling that the relationship they shared went beyond that of friends especially taking into consideration that this was the very first time he was seeing Zeke looking like that at another individual.

"Arm wrestling for who's in charge, Zeke?" But Ever smiled -- a brief flash across his face, eyebrows raised -- and likely he didn't actually want to be in charge. Instead he gestured Zeke forward with his free hand and patted Kyle easily on the shoulder, friendly ad familiar even if they'd never met. It was what it was.

"We all know who'd win that, Ever." Except they didn't. Zeke might have been winning spars lately, but Ever had beaten him plenty before his weapon bond with Lagertha had strengthened. When it came right down to it, Zeke wouldn't have put money on that bet. It was too much of a wild card.

Taking the lead, Zeke led the pair of them towards the portal, and through it, stepping out in am empty staff corridor within the casino. "Kinda of like deja vu, eh Ever?" They'd just done this. Not the mission, but Vegas itself.

The Mist pushed open a door into the casino itself, and even from there they could hear the music from the ballroom. The party was in full swing. "Spread out and observe. Report anything suspicious over the radios." He held the door for the other two, ushering them through, and smiling as he did so. "And try to have fun. It is a party."

"Roger that."

Stepping through the portal and then the set of doors that Zeke held open for them, Kyle nodded. It was time to get to work. Grabbing a drink from one of the servers, the Sun sipped on it as he made his way through the crowd, combing the perimeter to see if that would yield anything. Staff rooms. Fire exits. Toilets. Hmm... He stopped to set the already emptied glass on a table, flashing a smile as he politely declined another server's offer for more drinks.

That set of doors looked different and might be of worth checking out. His mind made up, he checked to make sure that there weren't any security in the area before crossing over to test the door and slip in after finding it to be unlocked. Once he was in, he waited by the door, only moving after making sure that no one was going to come after and surprise him from behind. Making his way down the flight of stairs, he stopped himself when he spied a security camera in the distance. There was something attached to it. Something that didn't look like it was supposed to be there. Seeing that there was no other way around the camera, he decided to try his luck and walk directly into its line of sight.

Nothing.

Seemed like he might be onto something here.

At the bottom of the stairs was a hallway and at the end of it, a locked door but it wasn't anything that a set of lock picks in the right hands couldn't take care of. Now that he was in, he began to proceed with caution, stopping every now and then to reassess his surroundings lest someone came along and caught him snooping around. Seeing a bunch of crates that didn't look like they belonged there, he decided to check its contents, not at all expecting to find an assortment of runics that resembled those that they had back on the island. This had to be it. Very lightly he tapped his earpiece. "Looks like whatever we're looking for is in the basement." He stopped, ducking behind the crates when he heard someone coming as he continued in a hushed tone. "Weapons. Runic ones like ours, only that the runes are red in colour."

Kyle made his way downstairs and Ever eased his way into the crowd, instead -- eyes sweeping the crowd from behind his goggles, looking for someone who might be out of place. His habit wasn't to search for human faces but instead something a bit more supernatural: demons or monsters or horsemen --

"My runes are red, I don't think that means anything." Ever said it quietly, with his head cocked so that he could touch the earpiece -- and then pulled his eyebrows together as he saw the flow of traffic moving in one particular direction. With a hum, he took his hand away and started off in that direction, carefully trailing the stranger --

Nowhere special. The food table. Ever grabbed something to look like he fit in and shook his head just a little, turning to scan the crowd again.

"I have nothing here."

Zeke's thoughtful hum could be heard loud and clear over the earpieces as he slipped effortlessly through the crowd, as if he belonged there. An easy confidence that was always present, but far more noticeable in a crowd. He smiled and nodded to those around him, murmured compliments when a costume seemed especially impressive, and mingled expertly, but his attention, truly, was all for the voices in his ear.

"Bonded weapons and runics aren't quite the same. Hard to say what a different color could mean, though I don't think that's why were here." Curious, but not their main concern. "Keep looking." Pale eyes had landed on the back of a man in a suit walking purposefully through the crowd, towards a door on the wall. It could have been nothing, but it could have been something. Dropping his hand from the earpiece, the Mist moved to follow him.

Through the door and down a flight of stairs, the sounds of the party above them were growing fainter and fainter. Quiet enough, now, that Zeke didn't want to chance speaking over the two-ways in case the target he was following over heard. He had to see where he was headed first, then he'd report in...

There was the murmur of voices up ahead, and Zeke slowed his pace, creeping along now as he strained to hear what they might have been saying. It was impossible in the concrete corridors, he was going to have to get closer. First, he tucked himself into a bit of shadow as he reached for the earpiece, pushing the little button to open up communication. "On the south wall of the ballroom there's a single down. It leads down a flight of stairs, into a hall, and at the end of the hall is another flight of stairs that leads into maintenance tunnels. Follow them, I've found something." Even with his voice barely above a whisper it seemed incredibly loud to him, but the murmur around the corner never paused, never changed in quality. For the moment he went unnoticed.

Now it was a waiting game.

"Oh... I didn't know that. Sorry..." Kyle mumbled as soon as he deemed it safe to do so, already making his way back to rejoin the party lest he risked blowing his cover prematurely. Slipping out through the exact same way that he had come, the Sun hunter started towards the food table to help himself to some cake. He had really thought for a moment there that he was onto something. Sheesh.

Upon hearing Zeke's report for them to gather, he set the plate down and tossed a casual glance at his surroundings. South wall would mean... there. "Alright. Am on my way." He moved as quickly as he could as soon as he was past that door, the flight of stairs and hallways that followed exactly as Zeke had said they would be over the radio until he eventually arrived at the maintenance tunnels and found the Mist.

"I'm here."

"I'm not far behind you." Ever almost whispered it into his piece, lingering somewhere down the hall. His eyes tracked a couple people as they slid by, impatiently watching for the hallway to clear --

"Waiting for some people to pass. Go ahead and I'll catch up." He licked his lips, trying to figure out if there was another way past...and then, of course, they slid away, the woman laughing as she did. He started down to join them.

It seemed Kyle had been right, or at least at found something connected to what was going on in the basement. Zeke waited for the other's to join him, almost holding his breath as he tried to listen to what was going on around the corner, but he couldn't catch more than a word here or there. Then the trainee was there at his shoulder, and Ever was on route, urging them onward. It was enough. The Mist summoned his weapon before slipping around the corner.

What he saw was people. A mess of them, some with red runed weapons, some without, but at the intrusion they all fell into motion. Half of them ran for it, and there were just too many to stop them. The other half took up arms, charging the pair of hunters.

Zeke brought Lagertha up, cutting a quick slash across one person's arm before another took a slash at his back, pulling a hiss from his lips. "Multiple enemies waiting for you when you reach us, Ever." A little warning couldn't hurt.

This was it. What the trio of hunters had been sent out for.

Summoning his weapon which was an absolute mismatch with the pirate costume that he wore, not that the group of people whom they were about to confront gave a hoot nor was there a need to maintain their cover anymore, Kyle was right behind Zeke when he stepped out of his cover and round the corner towards the gathering of people and the red runic weapons that they carried. Some of them bolted. Others stood between the pair of hunters and every exit known to them as they surged and brandished their weapons.

Breaking off from where Zeke stood and engaged their enemies, Kyle aimed his shurikens at the man who had snuck up on the Mist from behind, kicking aside the polearm that was dropped only to have his enraged foe charge and tackle him to the ground with a grunt.
