Kerberos's patrols tended to run late into the evening, by virtue of him being more comfortable late at night. So for him, eight PM was early - barely the start of his route, bouncing through back alleys and darker spaces that he would circle back to later to look for trouble that had arisen while he fanned out.
His schedule was by time more than by place - he feared having his routes discovered, because that would leave him in danger.
A Captain's aura prickled at his senses, and that was enough to send him bolting towards it. Fangite was a Captain, and he hadn't seen the man since he purified - he was hoping to see him, but when he bounced to the rooftop nearest to the signature, the silhouette was all wrong. Too big, too muscular.
But big and muscular, bearing a hammer, was someone else familiar.
"Titan!" The Eternal called, and he leapt from building to ground, landing gracefully in a jingle of bells and metallic accessories.Ivynian STARTS ARE HARD here have a puppy

Both chance and design conspired so that he rarely spoke to anyone- his colosseum training sessions were mostly solo with Youma, and there was no need to speak at either the Gym or at his work shift. His patrols were solitary, and he had not felt other auras to even cross- there was no need to make the decision of loyalties in whether he would fight an enemy of the Negaverse or pass them by. The feel of so strong an aura, white moon blazed full and bright, in the hind of his dimmed monotony came as a shock. A rapidly approaching and plainly pursuing shock. It is definitely and eternal senshi. Is it Ida? Or some other? Will they want to fight? I don't think she would. His name was uttered before the figure finally materialized from above. The captain blinked, trying to take in the odd uniform and ridiculous bells and put together how they knew his name. He didn't recognize the uniform. Only...the face he did. "Hold up your palm to show you wish to talk in peace." Meanwhile Titan used his mouth to pull off one of his gloves and do the same without putting down his hammer until he saw the same gesture returned. It is kerberos? It must be. He has come traitor- no. It is...traitor to the Negaverse is traitor to a usurper and tyrant. It is unfortunate, but it is not ...It is better for him and any who do.

Titan's initial caution was an uncomfortable reminder that were now on opposite sides - that Kerberos's choice that night on Hvergelmir's wonder had drawn a stark line between himself and his former allies.
He raised his palm, as instructed, . "I don't want to fight you," he said, sincerely, as a verbal addition. "I mean, I've dome some stupid things, but picking a fight with someone who could snap me like a twig is not on my to-do list tonight, thanks." Magic or no - and he would never be able to turn his magic, and its cruel daggers of grief, on Titanlaventite. Not on someone who had been kind to him when he was a wreck.
"It's, um - been a while. How are you?" He didn't want to say that he was concerned - to push or pry too much would be a risk when he wasn't sure if there was any air of trust between them. Titan might find him a traitor, or he might find him sympathetic.

With parley properly declared between them, Titan set his hammer down and stepped away from it, a few steps in toward conversational distance instead of that of uncertainty. "Is it still 'Kerberos'? " "You remember me? You remember much?" It seemed impossible, in the grander scheme, for whatever determined what they kept to keep his name intact in someone else. Kairatos remembered his time as Realgar, nothing of his regular life. In the dreams, I will remember Titanlavenite....I don't remember this. Kerberos was one of the ascended, broken, ruined and wrong. It is changed. "It has been a while....I did not know you were missing. "

The Eternal couldn't stop the sigh of relief that escaped him when Titan set down his hammer. "It's still 'Kerberos,'" he confirmed. "That's the um, half of my memories I kept." He wished he hadn't, sometimes, wished he didn't remember being cracked and broken and Ascended.
"So yeah, I remember you." He offered a smile, a genuine and warm one, and considered taking a step or two closer himself.
"I slipped out under the radar, then, I guess," he said, and that, too, was a relief. It meant no one was coming fro him. Not yet. "I've been out for about a month and a half."

The’ half kept.’ How does anyone know it is half. If someone asked me to tell them all my memories i have now of all my life, I don’t think I could tell them all, or half, or a quarter. There’s a lot of days in a year. I can’t remember that many days out of one year. I can’t remember half the days out of twenty years. Or half the things that happened on half the days of half a year. And of all that, remembering me. That is poor against a parent, or a sibling, or a lover. It was a sizable length of time passed, and no reports or noticing. It was similar in depressing, or once-depressing, ways as when he’d first visited Laurelite’s door to bring to light the fact that Realgar had been missing many, many, many months without due notice or investigation. SpecOps and Information were failing the whole of the operation yet again. Duty should obligate it be reported- and doubt surrounded that even if it were reported, nothing would come of it unless he himself did something about it. It should have been a more difficult situation, would have been a year on ago. Now, he let it slip away as a concern. His loyalty to the false monarch, Metallia, was broken, but months in the pressing dark had become as much an agent of numbing that firebrand. It feels inevitable, pursuing it or not, in the end. Everything will be under Metallia’s power. But what of Kerberos? He does not want to hear questions about the purification, or about the other senshi. Of course it is better and worse in many ways. Maybe he has had many people asking and providing necessities of life. But life isn’t living. The questions that are important, in such a change, are about him.“Are you happy? ”

Kerberos looked a little surprised, to hear the question. Of all the things he was expecting Titan to possibly ask, that hadn't been it. And he wasn't even sure of the answer. Was he happy? He felt alone, often - which was strange, because he had friends, people who were willing to reach out. But he was lost and adrift, cut off from everyone he had known. People he knew from the Negaverse hated him. He was a traitor.
He was also free. He no longer had to look over his shoulder, wondering if someone was coming after him. He wouldn't have to take any more lives, he would never have to fear becoming an Ascended monster again.
"Yes," he said, finally. "Yeah, I'm really happy. It's not easy - but it's way, way better." That was probably treasonous, but then, he wasn't a servant of Metallia anymore. "Plus, the new uniform is fantastic." He laughed, a little, unable to resist a moment of humor. "If a little cold."

The wait for an answer didn't bother the large captain at all. It was a little reassuring, actually, meaning that Kerberos had taken it seriously enough to at least weigh the words and answer. Whether Kerberos was answering truthfully didn't matter as much— the important thing was that it meant Kerberos himself had the truthful answer in his head, for himself, and might see to bettering his situation if he'd found anything lacking in his heart. There was hope, naturally, that communication could always be simple, truthful, open, but there was no guarantee. Especially not from opposite sides of a bridge. Titan nodded, accepting the answer. "It is good news to hear. " "You can wrap a shawl, jacket or blanket around yourself after you transform. As long as you do not hold it when you make the magic, things do not go to Elsewhere. " Compared to other officers who had smart jackets that could have been taken off and lent over, a look down was just a reminder of how old fashioned and out of place he stood as a soldier. His uniform was still that of a military man, but one a few too many centuries early from any other officer he'd met. "Do you have some friends? The prisoners we saved, Hvergelmir and Kairatos, you could talk to them if you feel alone. " I can remember the days now. I wrote it down and I look at the days. "Hvergelmir is often in a park, on her bench. Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Kairatos was Captain Realgar. He has lived in...changing ways as you do now. " "You take a lot of risk. You approached a Captain's aura- and you are only a month gone. It makes me worry. " There is no guarantee they would keep you alive. Recorrupt you. Not with your service record and branch. But maybe death is the kindest end.

Kerberos smiled, genuinely, glad Titan had accepted his answer - and maybe understood some of what he hadn't said, some of the reason it had taken him a while to answer.
"Yeah, I've thought about picking something up, but it hasn't really gotten cold enough yet." He shrugged his shoulders, a little. Beyond that, he just didn't have the kind of money to be buying things like that - luxuries, really - when he needed to be buying survival things first. "If it starts getting more uncomfortable though, I probably will - and maybe a pair of boots or something too."
But his physical needs weren't all that big of a concern to him. Nor was his own comfort.
"I'm in contact with Hver," he said, which was a little safer than saying he'd slept in her apartment. "She's the one that helped me get out. And I'll probably find Kairatos." But he hadn't done much to care for his own emotional needs, either. First and foremost came beginning to repay the debt he had racked up as a Corrupted Senshi.
He reached up, to brush hair from his face. "Don't worry about me - I can handle myself well enough. The fancy buttwings aren't just for show, my magic is - well, it's nasty. And powerful."

'Probably' wasn't very reassuring. Neither was senshi magic. Swords didn't run out of bite. And however 'nasty' a senshi spell was, they easily healed with a starseed. It didn't take many, but it didn't take so few either, that addiction or youmafication were much of a threat from healing up even the worst of spells the Captain had seen. Even that princess with rainbows, for as much as it had burned, wasn't beyond the scope. White moon senshi couldn't heal. They spent themselves and then, like a used matches, had nothing solid to wield. There was plenty of reason to worry. Ultimately, there was no way or reason to gainsay the small noble. He was new into a fresh life- what faith could be had in his own self care and care of his lands was undefined. Conversation was left at an impasse- with no argument, there was not much to offer to the small senshi. Asking about friends and companions could be dangerous and was inappropriate. He didn't want to risk the eternal being too casual and slipping connections civilian or otherwise. Kerberos had asked no questions, being mostly reactive. It was hard to navigate the No Man's Land between the trenches to form meaningful, lengthy relationships or conversations. All the more in that they'd not had many connections prior. He'd not known Kerberos' name, or even where the other man lived. He didn't know what agents the other had spent time with, if any, to be able to offer if they were well or not. The could have been an entirely life outside the bottle the senshi had crawled into, back in the small time that the captain had known him. But Titan didn't know it. Titan nodded in assent, his brow furrowed but trying to show solidarity and support. "It is what a friend does, worry. Maybe that is too bold. " "It is a happy thing to have had the chance to see you. You can build. You can walk the stars. You can make wishes and pursue them. It is a happy thing." " I hope it will not be in battles, some day, where we must come to blows. If it does, don't hold back on me, ja? "

Kerberos reached out to rest a hand on Titan's massive forearm - perhaps too much of a liberty, but he had never been entirely concerned about things like that. He was definitely smiling, trying to extend some of the warmth Titan had so easily passed to him.
"It's not," he said. Yes, he would very much like to count Titan a friend, even if their acquaintance had been brief. Even if they were now on opposite sides. But he liked Titan, big and gentle and honest. It was warming that he'd cared enough to ask after someone he barely knew.
"What about you?" He asked, gently. How close could he get to encouraging treason, before it was too far? "You don't belong in the Negaverse, you're too good of a man for that." As it turned out, he was willing to go pretty far. Verbally, at least.
A gentle squeeze of hand on arm. "I hope it never comes to a fight between us," he agreed, at least partially out of sheer self-preservation. Then, a brief breath. "I haven't been to my planet yet, but - once I've been, I'd like to take you?"

"That may have been true once, of being good. " Titan's gaze was drawn to the point of physical contact. It didn't even take a breath for the reply- it was a known fact. Even Anna's mouth had pulled tight in hearing the litany of missions he'd participated in and stained the palms of his large hands swath by swath until even their girth was red with wrongdoing. "But that doesn't mean giving up." When things were set with Kairatos, it could happen, and happen as safely as any he'd talked of the specifics to could estimate. A chance at leaving no trails and less risk to family and friends more than the danger he'd already brought on them. The offer of a planetary visit was as easily and readily answered. "I once asked Konge Zinkenite, and he personally approved of visiting worlds with senshi. It has been long, long months since then, but there's never been other orders. His opinion was clear. I would like to see your world. When you are ready for visitors. " "They are all very different. I have been to less than a hand. Maybe they can be dangerous, though. Very hot, or without water, or some other trouble. Be careful when you go first. They were all very wonderful, that I saw. Different than Earth. They are your heart, so they are very precious. It would be an honor. Maybe you will find you have knights someday, ja? Like the royalty. " Like the talk of knights with the pointed stars as sigil who belonged to Polaris. Or how Hvergelmir served Cosmos. Perhaps there were knights on other worlds as well? Surely there were wonders on every world, or things wondrous to the living things there that would strike even outsiders as wondrous. Things that could hold power, belief, and the life of a world as much as the wellsprings of mystery in myth on Earth. At least, it made sense there were. But what made sense and what was true seemed to follow variable patterns of truth or likelihood. There could be other factors that his slow pate hadn't come to yet. Still, daydreaming on such things couldn't be too dangerous or hurtful in a scope between neutral or friendly parties.
