Hyperborea and Remarque reappeared just outside the the towering gate that lead into the courtyard of her acropolis. Below them stretched the city of Hyperborea it's ancient buildings in various states of disrepair. On the main street could be seen the marble statues of ancient knights and the barren dead trees the filled the space in between them. Further out, the broken and crumbling stone walls that surrounded the city could be seen and beyond that a broken bridge that once led to what Hyperborea believed was a large farm.

Above the city stretched a seemingly infinite expanse of stars the twinkled like small diamonds in the Hyperborean sky. Hyperborea always felt like she could just lose herself for hours looking up at the beautiful stars. But she shook that idea from her head, she had a guest and she would make sure she was a good host for the dark mirror prince.

She turned to Remarque and curtsied again with a smile on her face. "I welcome you oh fair prince to my grand city within the stars. Hyperborea welcomes you, Prince Remarque of the Dark Mirror." She said in formal but friendly tone.

"Is the view to your satisfaction?" She asked indicating to the stars. She looked up and pointed out three orbs of purple light that were larger and brighter than the other stars. "Those three are the stars of Hyperborea, we are in the center of their orbit right now." She explained.

"Would you like to see my acropolis or would you rather go into the city proper." She asked.

As Remarque often was with these ancient wonders, he was impressed. While he tried to keep a collected appearance, his eyes rapidly skimmed the area before him—and then he allowed himself to look at the stars.

And behind that calm exterior, they took his breath away.

He didn't respond to Hyperborea's question immediately, instead just taking in the silence and trying to burn the image of this place into his mind.

"Quite to my satisfaction," he finally mused, nodding approvingly and redirecting his gaze to her face. "I'd like to see whatever you care to show me. Have you been here often?" he prompted, but there was another meaning to the question—only, he didn't wait for her to read between the lines and clarified, "How many visions have you seen?"

Hyperborea smiled. "I do not receive visions."She explained. "I am not a reincarnation, rather I'm the last surviving member of the ancient knight bloodline of Hyperborea." It was a fancy way of saying that she was a descendant of the last Hyperborea but she felt like it was appropriate to put on airs when playing host to a prince.

"Instead of visions of the past I have the ghost of my ancestor, the last Hyperborea, to guide and teach me about my city." She elaborated. "But to answer your other question I do come here often. I come up every 2 weeks to train with my ancestor.

"Lets start with my acropolis then." She said leading him through the towering gate. "There is my ancestral home. Over there is a training hall. I believe those were the grand baths over there." She said pointing to various buildings. "And that is the great temple of Apollon, the god of the Hyperboreans and supposedly the first Hyperborea ever. It was the home of the current knight and the entrance to the labyrinth beneath the city that is the magical core of my wonder." She said pointing at the football field sized temple.

"Oh and that statue" She said pointing to a bronze statue of a knight holding a golden javelin high. "is a statue of the legendary knight Abaris, it is said he built all of the buildings on the acropolis. And the javelin reflects the light of our three suns to direct starseeds on to Sagittarius Zero Star." She explained.

Remarque nodded absentmindedly, but he was caught on something the woman had said. "Fascinating," he said, and seemed to genuinely mean it despite his distracted thoughts. What remains were left of her civilization were truly great, and in all his travels he hadn't seen anything of the sort.

But it only went to show how much more there was for him to see. And he was no step closer to learning how to get to his homeworld—or anywhere else, for that matter, without assistance.

While he was admiring the statue, he finally spoke, "Forgive me for interrupting, but you mentioned something earlier. Your…ghost. I haven't heard of a Knight who could actually interact with someone like that. That's interesting. How do you summon your ancestor? What's he like?"

It was an onslaught of questions that he tried to phrase politely, but this was something new. This was something he had to know more about—desperately. And while he did a good job of feigning only mild curiosity, his heart was pounding with excitement.

"Hm, well he's pretty formal and kind of stuck in his ways. He doesn't show alot of emotion and can seem cold. But at the same time he's patient and a good teacher.." She replied. "As for summoning him, he's always around here somewhere. He just tends to stay back when I have a guest unless I need him."

"Theseus!" She called out looking around for the old knight. Sure enough he appeared next to them.

"You called Kora?" The ghostly stone giant inquired. Before his eyes difted to his descendant's guest. For a moment Theseus lost his calm demeanor, standing before him was the first dignitary he had ever received as a knight. Theseus flashed back fondly to his time with the blond prince. No. he reminded himself This is not the Remarque I knew. His eyes narrowed at the prince's outfit.

"You looked better in white." He said mostly under his breath. "Welcome Prince Remarque. I am Theseus the former knight of Hyperborea." He said formally regaining his composure.

Remarque had his questions, but the ghost before them was more than any verbal answer ever could have been. His eyes narrowed, not in anger or hostility, but with intense scrutiny. There was a certain comfort in knowing what you were dealing with—in knowing how to handle an enemy, should one make itself known.

But he was a ghost, already dead. Was it possible for him to be a threat? And if he was…

It was a thought best left for a later time; there was no threat now. Only curious words. "I happen to think I look fine enough now," he replied. "But I'd warrant there are some things you know better than me."

And unless the Knights and their ancestor's were mind readers—or this Theseus had been eavesdropping for longer than Remarque had known he was there—that meant he knew something.

He kept his eyes on the ghost, curious still. "It is a pleasure. And an honor to make your acquaintance. I hope I'm not intruding…?"

"I knew you in the past, or rather I knew different you. In my opinion chaos does not do you justice, heir of Remarque, but that is simply my opinion." He elaborated. "As for me knowing better well that would depend on what you know." he responded.

"The honor is ours prince, as for intruding this is no longer my wonder. If Kora felt it was appropriate to bring you here then you are a welcome guest."He assured the prince.

"If you have questions for me though I will attempt to answer them." He said.

Hyperborea watched the exchange between her ancestor and Remarque. So his past life visted here once upon a time. Interesting. She thought to herself.

This was clearly new to Remarque, who now seemed openly surprised. He had anticipated a good show, but nothing like this. Generally his visits to planets or wonders resulted in a little bit of exploring but they were never like this.

"Oh," he said, not quite at a loss for words, but briefly thrown off. "I suppose I could come up with a list of them, but I'd hate to be a bore." He looked to Hyperborea apologetically, and while he would have enjoyed a continued conversation with her…they could do that on Destiny City. He still owed her a trip to Mirorrspace, so there was that.

This…who knew when he'd get this again?

"I know much," he admitted, "Though my knowledge extends to Earth and present happenings. I know very little of your time, and I have no memories of my past life," he said bluntly. "So I'm afraid your face is foreign to me. But if you're answering questions, I'd like to know: how well did you know the last Remarque? And what impression could he have given you to dismiss my affinity with Chaos so easily?" He shifted positions and crossed his arms as he continued to examine the ghost. "Though, I'd be curious to know what it is about this Chaos that does me no justice? If you don't mind, of course."

"I would not say my relationship with your past self was intimate, we meet on few occasions in person but your planet was a trading partner of Hyperborea. He was the first dignitary I ever received after taking my vow of knighthood." He said in response to the prince's question.

Hyperborea had taken a seat on the edge of the marble dais above the bronze statue. She didn't really mind being left out of the conversation it was interesting enough to watch the other two talk.

"I do not mind though I will not hold my tongue on the issue. To begin with in my experience chaos serves only one purpose to destroy all that it touches." He said his purple eyes watching the young man calmly.

"As for why it does not do you justice, that is because chaos does no one justice. You were meant to be a heavenly body. That is the purpose that Cauldron created you for. Yet your radiance is smothered chaos." He explained.

Remarque watched still, but shrugged. "Different people, different paths. I've destroyed no one." Yet. "Perhaps you'd be disappointed to know that I've met more radical senshi. I preach peace and exploration, whatever colors I may wear. It's given me more powers," he shrugged.

"Perhaps, if the time comes when I've exhausted all that Chaos has given me, I'll see what I look like in those white colors. But for now, I still have use of it. It's not so bad, you know." Whatever he believed, he didn't seem to be lying. "In fact, I admit that I'm rather glad to be separated from the radicals of the White Moon."

He turned to Hyperborea. "No offense," he added, before returning his attention to the ancestor. "I don't know what times were like in your day, but I know that fealty to an absent queen has resulted in the suffering and death of many with ties to the Silver Millennium. At least with this I can choose my own path and not dread the day some coward Queen descends to command me." He shrugged and added nonchalantly, "Plus, I can walk through mirrors, so that's pretty cool."

"You misunderstand my words. When I speak of chaos I speak not of you but rather of the parasite you have taken into your starseed." The giant knight said pointing a ghostly finger where the prince's starseed resided. "Whatever sort of man you are, chaos will eventually consume you. It's hunger and jealously cannot be sated. Eventually all of your radiance will be consumed, but then again that is my opinion you clearly consider yourself knowledgeable about your chaos so perhaps you know better."

"More to the point I did not mean to give you the impression that I believe all beings of order, or even all senshi were of sound moral character. In my time I saw senshi use their power to dominate weaker planets and force them to join their empires. I saw armies cut down by magic both of knight and of senshi. Certainly some lived in peace but just as many others lived lives of war and conquest. So believe me when I say the idea that some senshi are more radical than yourself is not a difficult notion." He replied

Hyperborrea shrugged when he turned to her. "None taken. I think I mentioned it before but I don't actually serve White Moon, I serve Cosmos and the Code. I'm order but not necessarily White Moon though I do work with them."

Theseus nodded in affirmation to his descendant's summation "I do not disagree with you Prince. Princess Serenity was a child, and a foolish child at that. She put her lust ahead of her duty and the galaxy suffered for it. Her mother was no better, the fabled queen was arrogant and foolhardy she failed to protect her holdings and allowed a great evil on the universe." He said in a bitter tone.

"You....walk through mirrors?" Theseus asked in a genuinely perplexed tone. What strange abilities this chaos gives him.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 19, 2015 1:09 pm

"My starseed is my own," Remarque countered, and though he was not hostile he was defensive. "I'm no different than the day before I joined the Dark Mirror Court. Sans the power, of course. Four years, so far, I've worn the colors of the Dark Mirror. And for four years, I have controlled it. But I'll take your words to heart. Should there come a day when I find my judgment is clouded, I'll consider abandoning my Chaos. But for now," he shrugged.

"Desperate times. So the Mirrorwalking comes in handy. It gives us access to a place we refer to as Mirrorspace. The only safe haven we've got, away from the White Moon or the Negaverse. I've promised to take," he paused and looked at the girl next to them, "Your ancestor. So perhaps the next time you see her she can give you her own run down. But do not be so quick to discredit the Dark Mirror just because of the Chaos. We have admirable goals, I should think. The White Moon is so preoccupied with Earth that they’ve forgotten there's a universe out there. And while Earth is my home, I'm aware of how easily it could be destroyed. By the Negaverse," his tone darkened a bit. "Or something worse. It is ignorant to pretend like Earth will keep us safe forever. So our goal is to expand into the Universe and restore life where we can. While we can."

"I am admittedly no expert on the workings of chaos, I can only speak from perspective of an outsider looking in. For your sake I hope you are correct prince." Theseus said with a shake of his head.

"Fascinating, I shall look forward to being regaled with tales from her then." He said looking towards his young descendant.

"Admirable goals indeed. But unfortunately if the source of your power is malevolent it will hardly matter what your personal goals are, to that end I hope your chaos truly does serve you and it is not the other way around." He said with a nod. "You are wise to not put your hope on the survival of one world, even one as radiant as the Golden Empire. You were each meant to rule over and protect the many worlds of the Cosmos, to congregate on one planet will ultimately accomplish nothing."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 29, 2015 5:38 pm

"I have given nothing to this Chaos which cannot be taken back. And I will take back what I must if it comes to it." There was no hesitation or worry in his voice; it was a promise, and one that he had the upmost faith in himself to carry out. "So for the time being, I will use it. You are a fascinating man. I'd warrant you're full of stories. Hyperborea is lucky to have you guiding her." He nodded to the girl and smiled.

"I hope I don't let you down, though. I don't know what sort of person I might have been in a past life, but I hope to outshine him in this one." With or without the Chaos, Remarque was going to do great things.

It was just in his blood.

He wasn't the type to quit, and he wasn't the type to let anyone beat him at his own game. This whole thing was something he took very seriously, and he wasn't going to quit until he'd done something.

Or died trying.

Sorry this took so long sweatdrop , but fin on your post and then we can start the mirror space trip

"Thank you for your kind words. You as well are an interesting young man. I hope to hear more of you and your chaos from kora." He said with a small grin. He still doubted that chaos in any form could be anything but harmful but he would have to take the prince at his word for now and hope one day he saw the light.

"Knowing him I'm sure he would say you've already out shined him plenty." He said with a chuckle remembering the timid prince, how different he was from his current incarnation.

"For now I shall take my leave. I wish you luck in your endeavors fair prince. Remarque must be a lonely world without its guardian." He said before vanishing leaving Hyperborea and Remarque alone.

Hyperborea got up from the dais, walking over to the prince. "You ready to go back, I'm really interested in seeing this mirror space now." She asked offering her hand to the prince.
