Age: 11
Gender: Female
Powers: Invisibility
Aura: main color dark midnight blue 003366, secondary color dark raspberry (red-violet) 872657, generally low frequency
Appearance:
Daringly cute, Violette is an adorable child, but there is just something off about her that can give those around her an unsettling feeling. Perhaps it's her gleaming red eyes or her antique porcelain skin and bright red cheeks. Might be her cheery smile. It could even be that her hair has an almost gravity defying 60s flip. Her twilight colored hair is a vibrant yet dark magenta/purple. She takes care to brush it down and tries to keep it sleek, but it ultimately will always flare out toward the bottom.
The girl is an average height for her age and a slender girl. She has a fluid way of moving; lightning quick when she wants to but usually taking her time, often skipping about from place to place.
Violette takes all of her fashion cues from Wednesday Adams, preferring to stick to simple black and white garments; occasionally a pop of color is permitted, usually red or purple. In particular, she favors clothes that are slightly formal in style such collared dresses with leggings as well as anything stripey.
Personality:
Foremost, at heart Violette is a fun-loving girl. She likes to keep herself entertained, occupying herself with any type of media (books, games, comics, movies). She's happiest when doing something that stimulates her mentally (visually or in her imagination). Violette clings to things that she finds amusing or thought provoking and will go to great lengths to avoid being bored. She'll make up games or riddles, and will do whatever she can to get out of chores. When faced with a task she doesn't want to do (such as cleaning), she'll invent a reason to get out of it, procrastinate, or avoid it all together by running off in hopes the person who asked her to do it just forgets, or does it themselves.
Violette is a curious kid, the kind who is always getting into things. She sees something interesting, she just needs to take a closer look at it. Always wanting to be in the know, Violette is not above snooping or eaves dropping. If she wants to find out something, or worm her way into something, she finds a way to do it. Secrets are double-edged sword for her. On one hand, she is completely happy to keep her own secrets and prowl around mysteriously. On the other hand, she dislikes when others have secrets and openly will not share them. Hypocritical? Yes, but knowledge is power and she wants all of it.
Her thirst for knowledge and curiosity leads her to have a large variety of knowledge in various things, mostly tidbits without any real specialized knowledge or expertise. Generally enjoying to learn, Violette is happy to read, watch, or listen to just about anything; subject matters don't often manner as she's keen to know a little bit about everything. Wikipedia is one of her favorite time wasters. Violette could go on and on , skipping from one subject to the next devouring information. She's excellent at trivia games. She, however, has a poor attention span when it comes to staying focused on a single subject for extended time periods. An hour? Not a problem, even a few days are okay. But she is terrible at staying on top of a single subject for weeks. When reading, Violette will have multiple books on the go and cycle between them, often accidentally dropping a few along the way. Easily distracted by things, Violette is the type of girl who will passionately throw herself into something, but can quickly be deterred when something shiny and new comes along.
Of all of the subjects do interest her, Violette is particularly interested in the arts. She admires craftsmanship and fine details; she easily appreciated the hard work people can put into their art. While she appreciates art, she is not particularly gifted with it when it comes to drawing or painting. Violette is more inclined herself towards physical art forms and modes of expression, such as dance and music. Violette adores music, of all types. Not a musician herself though, Violette uses it a method to release frustrations. Music can calm her, it can cheer her up, she can have the best time just dancing along. It captures her imagination and attention in ways that other ways of expression often don't. If she has trouble expressing just what she is feeling, or making sense of it, often she's able to find the word's in another person's voice; if she likes you, she will totally be making you a playlist to show it.
Though she can be swayed and distracted, Violette can also be a passionate and willful child. When she really wants something, Violette will do what it takes to get it, unless something better comes along. She is not above being devious, stealthy, or even manipulative at times. Refuse to tell her something or anger her? Violette will give you the silent treatment and shun you until you let her have her way (or until she forgets about). She can carry a grudge, but is still prone to forgetting about it if something else distracts her. Just don't be surprised if she suddenly remembers and goes back to digging in her heels and holding her breath.
Usually, she gets along just fine with most people. Either they click and get along, or she will suffer in silence until she can run away. She's not likely to yell, but when it does happen she almost immediately regrets it. What might trigger that? Violette is more likely to lash out when she feels personally attacked and offended. Like many kids, Violette can put up a calm and cool demeanor, but has a sensitive side.
She does not like to be alone and on her own for too long; she feels most comfortable when with others. She likes to be seen and acknowledged, and being alone for long periods of times leads her to feeling rejected and ignored; not the sort of feelings anyone would particularly like to have. It can take time to really get to know her, but once she has found a few people to latch onto, she likes to stick to them like glue. She finds company to be very calming. Even if she might not have a whole lot to contribute at a time, she prefers being around other than by herself.
History:
Parents:
Simon Pierrot - Father - toy collector/dealer, non psychic - 40
Clementine Bleak - Mother - current occupation/status/whereabouts unknown, psychic? [this is true, Violette theorizes her mother could be a psychic, but lacks any evidence to prove it and thus does not actually know for sure] - 38
Violette is the product of a brief union. Her parents were unmarried, young mid to late 20 somethings when they met. It was 2 whole months of whirlwind bliss. The paid met at a comic book and toy convention, her mother Clementine was attending and her father, Simon, came as a vendor. Her father ran a small business selling collectibles, and the two met as Clementine investigated what he had to offer. They had a instant spark, as Simon was intrigue by the air of mystery Clementine projected just as Clementine adored how he seemed to awkwardly stumble around her and murmur about toys.
The two dated over the course of two months, seeing each other often until Clementine suddenly seemed to stop calling. Having had a short romance, and not fully knowing her very well, Simon assumed that she had lost interest in him. It seemed like Clementine just disappeared or what dodging him; there were no phone calls, no one home when he tried to knock on her door. Simon , though saddened by it, shrugged it off eventually as a love lost. He didn't think of her again until over a full year later when Clementine reappeared in his life, and brought with her a baby girl. Clem tried to reason away her absence as having to do with family drama, and that since their romance was so short, she was unsure of how to tell Simon about Violette. Yet she was there now, and Violette had his signature hair color, Simon did not dispute that he was her father.
They were a happy family for all of a week. Once Violette seemed settled into Simon's home, her mother vanished again. Frustrated by her disappearance yet again, Simon tried to follow up with police inquiries, but nothing ever came of it. Together, him and his daughter built their life together. Occasional questions would come up about her mother, but Simon either avoided them all together by changing the subject or invented reasonable lies if he did not have any truth to provide. All that Violette currently knows is that her mother is not there, and it doesn't really matter much as her father has, so far, been sufficient in raising her.
Although she grew up in a single parent household, Violette had a fairly comfortable life with little in the way of upset. Her father is a toy dealer and runs a small store as well an online shop for collectibles; Violette never wanted much for new things to play with, as there was almost always something that the dad brought home for them to play with together. Some things were for playing, other just for looking at, and Violette was always aware of which was which. As she grew up she even became interested in the odd item, and could recognize what was valuable if they went out together and found things.
Violette developed her powers slowly, or only noticed them slowly. As invisibility goes, she often was not aware of it happening. She became fully aware of her powers just recently.
Violette was invited to attend the birthday party of a friend from school. Her father dropped her off with the understanding that Violette would be able to get a ride home later from another parent. The party itself was at one of those cheesy pizza party and video game arcade places; the type of place where parents spend ridiculous amounts of cash on game tokens so their kids can buy a prize worth $5.
At the party, Violette spent her time playing games with the other kids, collecting her tickets carefully. When it came time to collect a prize, she eyed what was available carefully. She then saw as funny looking cupcake with googly eyes. It was an unusual toy, and one she immediately assumed had value. The toy was strange looking, and she presumed a rarity; it just had to be hers. Counting her tickets, she came up several short. The party place was closing soon and there was not enough time to collect more ticket. But Violette just could not let herself leave without the toy. She paced around, thinking and thinking to herself about how she could possibly get it. If only nobody was watching... And then it happened. The place emptied, and no one seemed to notice the girl by the prizes. The door was locked, the lights turned off. The place was empty.
The pizza party place was empty all except for Violette, and unbeknownst to her, the janitor. She had unknownly become invisible while they were closing. This was her chance to claim the prize she wanted. Violette climbed up onto the counter of the prize corner, and reached for the cupcake. As she went for it, she knocked over several items, which crashed to the floor with a loud thud. It startled her, and she jumped back, but cupcake in hand.
The noise altered the janitor, and he was surprised to see a girl appear in front of him. He grabbed her off the counter, and immediately wanted to know what she was going there. Violette was unable to explain just how she was there, but that she got locked in. The janitor called her father to come get her.
Her father was frazzled that Violette was never dropped off, but pleasantly relieved to know she was okay. No one was really able to fully explain how she managed to stay in undetected. All Violette could explain was that just could. When the security footage was checked, all they could see was one moment Violette was there, people walked by, and the next she was gone.
From then on, Violette seemed to disappear at random times, more and more often, though always reappeared eventually. This left her dad bewildered, though he didn't worry too much over it. That was until a mysterious brochure for a summer camp arrived in the mail included with a few pizza coupons. The security video likely got around, and a package was mailed to their home.
Turns out that Violette had a psychic ability, and Murmuring Pines was just the place equipped to help children like her.
