When Otto woke up the day of his birthday, he would find that Chance wasn't there anymore - and that there was a small, wrapped box in place of said boyfriend, just a simple, unobtrusive object with a note attached that said, in a familiar scribble:bittiface Good morning, sunshine~
I have a few things for you, if you can find me : )
Like I'd make you think that hard, I'm in the Deus kitchens.

Otto rubbed the sleep out of his eyes on the morning of his birthday, groggy and wondering why Chance wasn't there. He clumsily grabbed at the box left for him, his eyes finally focusing enough to read the note along with it. The realization that this was a present dawned on him very suddenly, and it was ripped open with little to no grace or care. Otto immediately replaced the shirt he'd been sleeping in with his new teeshirt. The feel and smell of new clothing definitely helped wake him up. Now, Otto did want more stuff. However, he was in no mood to play hide and seek. He still needed his damn shower! However, another note inside the decimated box revealed Chance's location. Oh, good. He hoped he hadn't been there long, cause Otto slept in (since it was his Birthday) and he planned to take a long shower. And he did. The brat. So finally, the blonde made his way into the commons kitchen searching for a tall man with curly black hair.

Chance, fortunately, had been with Otto long enough by now to determine that it might possibly be a while until he actually made his appearance. He kept himself otherwise occupied, and it was only when he heard footsteps did he look up from where he was sitting, on one of the counters with his long legs dangling, a sketchpad in his lap.
"Morning, hot stuff," said Chance cheerfully. "Sleep well? Get all your beauty sleep in?"

"Most of it." He said haughtily, running a hand through his damp hair. He didn't want to come off as eager or excited to see Chance (or get presents). "You make a habit of hiding out in kitchens?"

Chance grinned, waving a lazy hand to indicate that Otto should come over.
"I make a habit of being anywhere my specialties lead me," he said dramatically.

" What specialties?" Otto snipped in a snide response, idly taking his time walking towards Chance who had perched like a peacock on the counter.

"Putting up with you," Chance deadpanned, reaching out once Otto was close enough and snagging him by the hem of his shirt, a cheeky grin on his face.
"Nice shirt, by the way."

A snorting laugh escaped him.
"You a**," he said, and leaned to kiss his forehead. "See if I give you any of the rest of your presents now, jerk."

"What? No, you have to!" Otto retorted, putting on a grumpy expression despite the kind kiss. "It's my birthday. Give up the goods."

"Bingo," said Chance with a wink, and grinned. "All right, Mr. Impatient Pants, there's something over in the fridge."
He swatted Otto's arm and pointed. Inside on one of the shelves was a small, round cake sitting neatly on a plate with a fork beside it, covered with a plastic lid.
"I figure you'll eat your entire weight in candy and then some today and tomorrow," Chance deadpanned. "But hey, cake on your birthday is a tradition. Plus, you know. Cake."

Otto opened the fridge to find the most beautiful cake he'd ever laid eyes on. It looked as if it were made with only candy, and he stared at it with blue eyes wider than saucers. "Dude!" The cake was lifted carefully from the shelf before Otto shoved the door closed with his hip. Chance sounded like he had said something, but all Otto could do was imagine how amazing this cake was going to taste. He also briefly wondered if he cared about getting a stomach ache if he ate it all right now. He grinned up at Chance, "Thanks, man." Despite the casual tone, he did lean up to give his boyfriend a grateful kiss.

It was worth it to go through all of the snark and sass just to see Otto's reaction to the cake. A little smile tugged at Chance's lips as he watched, spreading into a grin at the enthusiasm clearly evident, and the kiss was accepted against curved up lips. He swiped a hand affectionately over Otto's hair.
"You're welcome," he said lightly. "I made it last night, hopefully it's all right. Don't eat it all in one sitting, though, I still have some other s**t for you."
