Sitting down on the play rug during play time, Phyre remained by herself as she pretended to play designer, moving blocks into certain shapes and pretending they were furniture. The main character in her playing was her yellow vespercat plushie she always had with her, making it move blocks and making it say comments like 'This chair needs to be blue, not green!' or 'I like how that table looks next to the shelf.' To Phyre, this was way more fun than doing a game with the other nightmares who were on the other side of the rug, because she got to use her imagination to make cool rooms for her plushie to play with. However, maybe it would be fun to have someone else play with her? After all, mommy had told her that she needed to try and make more friends besides her growing collection of plushies. According to Candy 'Plushies are nice friends, but other nightmares can be leagues better once you get to know them.'

To be honest, Anara was probably the least likely in the whole classroom to make a friend. This was mostly because she preferred to be by herself, and if any other Nightmare did approach her, she was likely to shudder from the noise, trying to inch herself closer to a secluded area. Because of this, it probably wasn't all that surprising to know that she had been hiding in a rack of coats, just eyeing the other children. She stayed there for a little while, thankful that the teachers hadn't picked up on disappearing act, that was until she noticed a girl playing with blocks and plushies. This made her muse, wondering if she could get away with stealing one of them without the girl noticing. Taking a couple steps from the coats, she inched closer, hiding behind desks until she was just close enough to reach out a hand to steal one of the blocks.

As Phyre went to grab one of her blocks, she noticed a different hand than her's going to grab it. Huh? She didn't have such beautiful purple skin. Who's hand was that? Slowly turning around, Phyre was then face to face with the geist who had just tried to grab her toy. Who was this freshling? She had never seen them before. Being calm and quiet about the situation, Phyre knew she had to address the problem at hand. Did this freshling mean to steal her toy? ", Ummm... hello. Were you going to take my toy?"

Knowing she had been caught, Anara tried to take a couple steps back. "Uhh... no... not at all.." Her thin voice came out as she tried to lie but she knew she was a terrible liar, not to mention that her tendrils had flared out, glowing slightly as to give her away. "I just... thought... it would be nice... to play... together..?" She gritted her teeth and forced a smile. It wasn't true. Not in the least. Anara didn't play with other children and she had little to no want to play with this girl, but she didn't want to get put in detention either for trying to steal things that weren't hers.

She could tell they were lying, seeing it in their eyes. Even though She knew that she should turn the other in, she felt that maybe it would be better to try and befriend them? After all, they seemed very nervous and she knew she had never seen this freshling playing with the others. Keeping her voice down to not alert the care takers, she leaned in closer and whispered to her ", You really mean it? You want to play with me? Because I would like to play with you if you really did. No need to be shy around me."

Anara watched the girl's expression carefully and she instantly noticed the recognition in her eyes, the girl wasn't fooled despite her apparent willingness to play anyhow. "Umm.. yeah.. I totally mean it." She continued her farce despite knowing the other girl knew better, her eyes darted to the side slightly to see if the teacher was watching. She bent down on the rug, moving to a sitting position. She wasn't happy about the situation, but it was her own stupid fault for getting caught. "So what are you playing exactly..?" She eyed the toys on the ground, not really sure what to make of it all.

"I am playing interior designer," Phyre explained, pointing to a few of the blocks while remaining quiet over all for her. She wasn't about to have this girl get in trouble. Well... not yet anyway ", That is a blue couch, and that is a yellow lamp, and that is a red table. I am trying to pretend to made a living room for my mommy. And this-" she held up her plushie ", Is who I am pretending to be the designer. Do you understand?" Hopefully the other did, since she wasn't sure how else to explain it ", If you don't understand, we could play a different game. Maybe pretend we are spies in a mansion, and we could build rooms with the blocks that we need to pretend to go through?"

Anara listened, hardly making a noise as the other girl spoke. When she indicated the pieces, her head turned from side to side as if considering. She nearly vetoed the whole thing, wanting to explain how a block couldn't be a table or a couch, but when her eyes caught the teacher's she just frowned and stayed quiet. At least the girl was being nice, for now, and hadn't once mentioned her odd eyes. That was a start, at least. "I guess.." She stated when the question came. She picked up a block and turned it upside down before placing it on the ground beside her. When the girl mentioned "mommy" it was obvious that Anara flinched a little, trying to pretend the word was never said. At that point she slightly crossed her arms and looked away from the toys. "Maybe... spies would be better... I don't really think this is my kind of game."

She gave a nod and began to gently take all her block furniture apart, beginning to make rooms and doorways that the plushies could go through. She even managed to get a few figures that they could use as guards, and a sparkly ball that was there prize goal. As Phyre spoke about her mommy though, she noticed how the other didn't seem to like that. Did she have no mommy like she used to not have? This girl must be very sad then, super sad. She had to try and cheer the girl up somehow! "Okay... do you know how to play pretend spies? I want to make sure before we begin to try and do so. Wouldn't want you to get confused," Phyre gave her a small smile ", I'm Phyre by the way. What is your name?"

"I'm not dumb!" She shouted in protest, her arms crossing over her chest. Growling a little, she had wanted to prove the girl wrong, completely. She didn't like the thought of being labeled as not knowing something so simple, but truth be told, Anara had never played games with other children before. The girl couldn't be right, could she? Was she really just stupid when it came to other kids? Letting out a breath of air, she tried to ease herself into a less pensive state. "Of course I do. We just.. pretend we're infiltrating a base.. or something.. Sneak around.. gathering information about the bad guys." She nodded triumphantly as if it wasn't something she just blurted out on the spot.

Phyre jumped a bit at her shouting, not expecting it with her being so quiet. She didn't make any loud noises back though, just tearing up some before getting a grasp of herself ", Okay... Sorry... there are some nightmares and daydreams that don't know how to. I feel sorry for them, because imagination is the most fantastic thing to ever exist." Giving a nod to what the girl said, she handed her a plushie she cared a lot for ", My brother gave me this plushie, but you can use it for now as long as I get it back."

Anara couldn't help but frown, slightly perplexed on why the girl was crying. This definitely wasn't a situation to cry, so why was she doing it? Had she really upset her that much? She wasn't quite sure what someone was supposed to do in this situation, should she comfort her somehow? "Imagination? Like.. making things up?" Her question was more curiosity than anything. She had heard of it, she wasn't that socially inept, but it wasn't exactly a thing she did or thought of all that much.
When the girl gave her the plushie she couldn't help but feel even more guilty for making her cry. "What are you giving me this for... It isn't like I've been nice to you..." She didn't like the feeling that was welling up in the pit of her stomach and a part of her wanted to toss the plushie away, but she had already made the girl cry and she was sure that would too. "Ummm... I'm Anara..." She was still staring at the plushie as she spoke, not sure what to do with it.

"Yeah, that is what imagination is in a way," Phyre smiled, tearing up no more. She felt a little better now, having only started to tear up earlier in fear of offending the girl. She didn't mean to cause the girl to think that she thought she was dumb, and it brought back memories of being lonely and afraid to cause people strife due to her mutations back in the orphanage ", Why am I letting you use it if it means so much to me? I'm not letting you use it because you have been nice. I am letting you use it and play with me because out of everyone in this room, I feel you need a friend the most. No one should feel the need to be alone, I learned that when I was adopted. So now I try to be as nice as I can to everyone, even if they haven't been completely nice to me." Phyre then turned to grab her yellow vespercat, her tiny single wing visible for Anara to see as it started to flap some from Phyre moving. Her tail was now visible as well, showing that it too wasn't normal at all. Just like Anara, Phyre was a mutated nightmare.

Anara huffed a little. She hated feeling vulnerable. She hated even more that this girl had figured her out so easily. She wanted to lash out and tell the girl she was wrong and it took almost everything within her to keep her cool. "I don't need friends. I've been alone my whole life, I don't need anyone.. or anything.. I'm fine by myself." Despite saying this, her voice never came above a whisper. She held the plushie back out to the girl. Her eyes were hiding behind her hair. She didn't want her to see her crying. She hated crying. She hated feeling weak. She hated anyone knowing exactly how broken she was inside. Seeing the girl's tail and wings, she had a small glimpse that maybe this girl knew what it was like, if even only for a little bit. However, she couldn't bring herself to admit it.

It took everything in her to not just start bawling and running off. Why was it so hard to make friends with non-plushies? Besides Anara NEEDED a friend, it was even more apparent now that Anara had opened this up a bit more. Without another word, she scooted close to the freshling, but didn't take a hold of the plushie. Instead she gave them a hug, tearing up as well. If only this girl could understand that she did understand what it was like ", I thought that not that long ago when I had no family, alone in the orphanage. No one liked me, no one wanted me. No one could look at me like I was a normal child. Everyone talked about how bad looking I was while I was still in there presence, and all the other nightmares made fun of me. The fallen children made fun of my tiny single wing and how I could never fly like they would, and the demon children made fun of my tail while throwing pebbles at me. The adults always would tell me no one would want to be my friend, let alone adopt me because I was different. So I refused to have friends. I didn't need them, I didn't need anything. No one... nothing." She pulled away some to try and look Anara in the eyes, smiling affectionately at her. When she looked at her, she didn't see a mutation. She saw a normal freshling who needed a friend ", I was proven wrong, and I want to prove that statement you said wrong too," she then let Anara go, taking the plushie back but soon offering yet another one for her to keep ", I am giving you this one for you to keep."
