Professor Selene has chosen you to come to the human world and help her make a few things right. There seems to be an epidemic of missing Halloween candy, and the human children are in need of your help! It's time to try and make some Halloween magic!

Indu had felt slightly disappointed in the lukewarm reception to her fabulous costume, but she had made a promise to herself to use it, and the next class she had on her Indu's 'do everything possible to celebrate our special time of the year' master class list. was seemingly made for it. Oh - it was being run by the same teacher. She tucked her list away, and snapped her fingers confidently. Immediately popping into her complete witch's costume, Indu patted her hair and trotted onwards down the hall to class. Arriving at the professor's classroom, she noticed other students were putting together costumes there. Talk about last minute - and they wouldn't get any extra credit marks for preparing beforehand. Some students just had no drive. Smugly walking past them, she stepped through the portal that presumably the teacher was waiting on the other side of.

Indu nodded at the teacher's instructions, privately hoping this was some kind of simulation. If there was really such a dire situation going down, trained professionals would be the ones to call in here rather than students. Or maybe there was backup waiting if the class failed, although that would be risky too. Rubbing the top of her broom thoughtfully against her pointy hat, Indu trotted forwards to the nearest house and gave their candy bowl a thorough examination. It was ... lacking. Wistfully thinking of her hoards of sugary treats back in her dorm, Indu wished she had slipped some of that into her bag - then she could have just upended it into the bowl and passed the class! Or would that have been cheating. She wasn't sure and wasn't about to ask - the teacher clearly had enough work cut out ensuring this street was properly assisted.

Indu began to quickly empty her candy sack into the bowl in front of her, crouching down and hoping that her all black costume would allow her to blend into the night. She was nothing but a falling leaf on the breeze, no reason for any human to come to the door. If it came to that, she wasn't sure what she'd say if she was confronted.

Sure, apparently humans could understand her when she spoke, but maybe she'd say something suspicious. Maybe they'd catch on, and then there'd be a big scandal. She could imagine it now, in her mind's eye "Humans learn the truth of Halloween, and stop being scared forever. Local reaper in big trouble."

It wasn't remotely likely of course, but when you were doing your best to be perfect in everything, the possibility of the opposite coming true was always there. Unless you were deluded, and Indu felt comfortable in admitting that while she had a few shortcomings, her ego wasn't that swollen.

Sweating slightly despite the cool night air, she resolved to get more invested in that DETH club she'd heard about when she got back to school. They were all about understanding humans weren't they? You got instructions on how to talk to them and take care of them and think and act like them, and if you did well you got a badge saying it. The idea appealed to her organized nature.

Researching technique for scaring methods was one thing, and practising candy-placing speed was another, but actually being able to feel comfortable talking to a human was a third pile of spider eggs entirely. It was amazing how many things you had to juggle to feel comfortable operating in the human world, but Indu felt that this was all (despite the sweat) an important learning experience for her - even if it just told her what she needed to work on next.

Glancing down, she noticed that her methodical placement had almost emptied her bag and filled the pot. Turning the empty sack on its end she simply shook the remaining candies out into the bowl - pausing only to scrabble for a few that had bounced out and threatened to roll off down the steps. No candy would be overlooked, this bowl would be filled to the brim.

Finally content with her work, she leapt upright and ran off, cackling appropriately back to the teacher. On her arrival Indu practically saluted with enthusiasm, presented her empty bag and her 'mission accomplished', and skipped back through the portal to school with a song in her heart and a clear goal ahead for her future.
