Ophelia was still adjusting to her new life at the women's shelter, it had only been a few weeks since she was saved from the streets, but already she could feel her physical and psychological health improving.

Her body was still damaged, cut, bitten and bruised from rough nights and even rougher fights. Her hands were pale with blisters and scars covering her knuckles; and her black eye was still ever so slightly noticeable against porcelain skin. She had not powered up since she had become a resident at the shelter, partially because she knew she was being watched by a rather worried Prince, but mainly because she needed time to recover. To come to terms with her new role within the court and the mission Jett had sent her on.

Her brown hair hung loosely over her shoulders, amber eyes scanning the park and the people who visited it on this cold October evening. It was halloween very soon and all the leaves had turned golden, children were out of school and playing and couples were walking down the paths holding hands. Ophie instead walked alone with her hands casually resting in her parka coat. She was wearing black jeans and knee high boots, wrapped up as warmly as she could be because of the weather, it was hardly afternoon but the sun was already threatening to set.

Everything glowed orange and gold.

She filled her lungs with crisp air before letting out a sigh, truth was she was rather bored, unable to work for medical reasons for at least another month meant she had most of her days to herself. With no friends or family to speak of it was rather hard filling the time from dawn to dusk.

The brunette finally settled down, sitting at the base of a tree to look on at the lake which was in the center of the park and her mind started to wonder off.

It was so peaceful now.

Gabriel had gotten far too use to spending his nights here in the park. He was just getting off work for the day, and that often meant that he had a few hours to himself before he needed to be home for dinner, as well as to greet his little sister as she returned from school.

He pulled the fur collar of his leather coat up around his ears, the cool air chilling him a bit, but not enough that it was annoying. It was one of his favorite times of the year, and not only because his birthday was the next day, but because he loved the scent of spiced cider and crisp, dry leaves.

He did not really pay too much attention to those that were around, it was a normal day, same people, same disgusting romances on the banks of the lake. He would be the first to admit that he was a bit jealous of the couples as they sat there, wrapped in each others arms. He did not have anyone as of yet that he dared allow that close. His last close relationship had ended rather badly and he was not ready for that amount of heartbreak again.

It was as he rounded a sharp corner that he managed to snag his foot on a tree root and in consequence go toppling over the young woman that happened to be sitting at the foot of the tree. The next things she would hear was a string of drawn out curses, as well as a few more colorful expletives as he rose from the cold, wet, ground.

He dusted off the front of his clothes, the black on black ensemble hardly showing the dirt. He then noticed that he had, in fact landed on a woman. His face flushed the deepest of red, a strange color on the goth boy. "My gosh...I am sorry. I did not mean to trample you." He cringed, even to him he sounded like a damn fool.

Ophelia had to admit, on this mundane afternoon, the last thing she expected was to be keel hauled by a strange goth boy.

As he landed on her she made a sharp gasping sound, she did not have time to close her eyes or brace for impact, meaning she went pretty limp as soon as the two made contact.

She felt her ribs ache, old injuries flaring up and taking the air from her lungs, though she tried not to show the discomfort on her face. Showing weakness was not natural to her, and putting on a brave face was a reflex at this point. The man's long, drawn out curses took her mind off of the pain in her side, and golden eyes made her way to him. He was a giant blur of black, with an unmistakably red face.

He instantly apologised.

"N-no, don't worry about it. Accidents happen." She stated, trying to put on a reassuring smile on her usually stoic face. She did not know if it came off more cocky than kind. "That was quite an impressive fall though, are you alright?" She added, not out of genuine concern, but rather because she thought it was the polite thing to do.+

Her gaze was locked on him, dissecting him like an ant under a magnifying glass. He looked so strange to her, like a character from a Tim Burton movie with his makeup and dark clothing.

She had a feeling this one was dressed for Halloween every day of the year.

The young goth man was less amused by her words than he was by the expression on her face. He knew that look all too well. The look of someone trying to size up a new encounter. He did it more often than not. Even more so now that he knew that some of those the frequented this part were not of the most savory of sorts. But such was the lot that was laid before him. The life of a knight was one of loneliness and paranoia.

He brushed off the thoughts that haunted him. He still did not understand a lot about what he was, but he did know that there was something, someone calling him at night and that he was growing closer and closer to heeding that call. Camelot had told him he would know when he was ready, he did not think he had meant this.

He heard her words as if they were just and echo in his ears, he blinking once before pushing down the blush that had made it to his cheeks. "I am more than alright. It takes a lot more than a simple fall to take me out. I am far more worried about yourself. I might be a stick but I am certain that I weigh more than you do." He gave her a soft smile, his black painted lips parting just a bit to reveal that he had sharp canines to go along with the goth look. It was a blessing of birth, but it added to the effect.

"I see." She hummed curiously. She did not quite know what to make of him, besides clumsy that is. The brunette paused for a moment and just stared at him, the silence that passed seemed almost uncomfortable, like she was sizing him up to eat.

He seemed harmless enough, she concluded.

Ophelia did not really know how to reply for what he said, as a combat orientated senshi she had received blows that left her hole body radiating with agony, she should have hardly felt an impact like that. Still, her body was healing and this made her sensitive than she usually was, nevertheless she kept that famous poker face of hers and laughed it off.

"Do not waste your energy doing so, as you put it... you're a stick." Her gaze turned into more of a squint as she turned her head and looked at him out of the corner of her slit eyes. A teasing smirk painted across her lips, she was pretty sure he thought himself a bit of a vampire and that amused her.

Ophelia's love creatures were not in their aesthetic, rather than their acts of carnage.

The brunette pushed her back against the tree and slid to her feet, she brought her damaged hands from her coat pockets and offered one to him. Her gently cascading over a shoulder as she moved.

She reached out in silence, waiting to see if he would take it.

Gabriel was not certain how best to take the woman's agreeing with him. Normally he would just shrug it off as a comment, but the way she looked at him, the way she seemed to size him up, made it fell like more of an insult. He lifted one brow in thought of this. "Perhaps you are right. I have been told I worry far too much. Forgive me."

He extended his hand, not really taking hers, but making the offer for her to take his all the same. "I have not seen you about before. Certainly not here or on campus. I'm Gabriel. Sort of the resident odd ball and spook." He shrugged lightly. He knew alot of the more academic students around the area looked at him as a rebel. They often sold him short, but that was also to his advantage. He smoked them on tests.

"Are you attending university? Or maybe you are still at the high school. That would account for the reasons I have not seen you." He knew he was rambling, but it gave him time to look her over. The bruises and cuts, the clothing she wore. She was a rough one. The last traces of a black eye, a fight or abuse? He was certainly not one to ask.

"Hello Gabriel, I am Ophie." She took his hand, not to steady herself, but instead to shake it, but quickly brought her hand back to rest in her coat pocket. She leaned back against the tree, bending a leg so one of her feet rested against its bark casually. Leaves fell from the tree above them, cascading down through the chilled wind that was still blowing at random intervals and causing ripples in the nearby pond.

He seemed to be rambling on about school and it seemed he was trying to place her, well there was no surprise he had not run across her before giving her circumstances.

She finally smiled and answered his question rather flatly. "Neither really. I am actually a full-time hobo." Though she supposed that was only half true now, she was still homeless, but staying at a shelter. If he had met her a few weeks ago she was sleeping in the park, filthy from head to toe and struggling with infection and dehydration. "I am used to people passing by without giving any notice, but that was the first time anyone actually came crashing into me." She chuckled, her answer to his question rather blunt but the answer she gave amused her slightly.

She never knew how people were going to take it, and the absurd turn her life has taken seemed alien to speak out loud, even now. Who would have guessed that once upon a time, before she lost her identity, she was a Crystal girl with an exceptional musical gift and love for language.

"So, your a student? What are you studying?"

Though he was abit taken aback by her words, he did not make light of it. The way one lived their life was their affair and he was certainly not one to judge. Though the more he thought about it, the more he seemed to recall the nightly resident of the park. The young pile of rags that would sleep on benches and not draw attention.

He seemed to brighten a bit as she followed through on his ramblings. If nothing else it made him feel abit less like the social clutz he knew himself to be. "I am a university student. Majoring in History and Sociology." He said the words with a pride that some in his eyes. He was a nerd, and a proud one. "I would be lying to myself and you if I didn't say that your social position was of interest to me." He had said he wouldn't speak of it, but yet it escaped. Damn his infernal rambling

"Huh, is that so?"

She asked, raising an eyebrow at his statement.

"And what part of it interests you, exactly?"

The brunette followed through with his statement, she was not being passive-aggressive with her line of questioning, quite the opposite infact. It was just she was used to people reacting to her situation with sympathy rather than curiosity.

He smiled as she seemed to peek at the idea of his interest. This pleased him more than anything in that moment. For, to bring joy to others was certainly something he enjoyed. It was all the more pleasing if they took an intrest in the same such thing.

"Well, if nothing else, it is not every day that one can speak with someone that lives a life alternative to those he is use to. I cannot imagine living in the park, myself. But to learn how it is that you get on in such a life, that is interesting."

He knew that he probably sounded strange to her. Not many people enjoyed learning how others lived. It certainly was not a conversation to have around the family dinner table. Not that Gabriel himself had not tried to initiate such a conversation with his father many a time. It was different when inquiring about the lifestyles of business executives.
