It was a lot bigger, Liam thought, as he stepped out of the lighthouse on the island. Bigger and brighter. The sun was beating down hard, making the Moon wish he'd thought about weather changes when he'd decided to pay Deux a visit. He certainly didn't need the sweater he was wearing over the dark grey tee shirt, and the jacket onto of that was just brutal over kill. "Jesus, it's hot." He wasn't used to the heat anymore. First things first. Liam pulled his phone out and shot Harper a quick text to let her known he'd arrived. Probably he could have followed the path back to the base, but on d he was there he wouldn't have a clue where to go. So he'd wait. It gave him time to strip off his jacket, the sweater beneath it, to tuck both into the familiar, worn nap sake he had slung over one shoulder.

Before Eerikki could even give any sort of protest Harper was barreling her way out of the training room, her coat over one arm as broke into a run across the ground. Liam had sent a message he would be there in a half hour giving her not a lot of time to at least attempt to shower before meeting him. Skidding in the hallway she threw her things down and bolted to the shower. Her phone buzzed again, just as she finished getting dressed, picking it up she threw on her coat and headed out to meet him at the lighthouse. Of course her aim was to be there as soon as possible as she still ran down the hallway and out into the grounds. It was hot, even hotter with the jacket it on but she didn’t even seemed phased. When she finally saw him she tried to slow down, at least a little before jumping and wrapping her arms around his neck. “LIAM! You made it!”

He heard the pounding of her boots on the path before he saw her come barreling at him. It gave him time enough to turn, to brace himself and make sure he was balanced before she was launching herself at him and wrapping her arms around his neck. He laughed as he caught her, holding her up easily. "I did. Easy as stepping through a...portal." Which was still a very strange concept for him. He blinked up at her hair, before meeting those pretty green eyes again. "Just hop out of the shower? You're all wet." He was still holding her up, though he'd let her slid an inch or so so their faces were more level. It let him bump his nose against her's playfully before tipping his head to catch her lips in a soft kiss. murmuring against them. "Happy birthday." A little hesitant, at first, as if he half expected her to draw away from him, but melting into something more confident when it became clear that wasn't going to happen.

She squeezed him as he caught her, holding her to his chest as he mentioned stepping through the portal to get there. It was strange, the whole sc-fi portal thing but cool that she could almost go anywhere. Almost…Harper laughed, she hadn’t even paid any attention to the fact that she had barely dried her own hair. “Yep, I was training all morning and I didn’t want to come smelling like a gym. So shower it was.” As long as he didn’t mind her dripping a little in exchange of at least smelling like soap then it would be fine. She returned his kiss, taking another one for herself after he told her happy birthday, she was of course glad to see a friend on her birthday. It was going to be weird that her family wasn’t there to celebrate like they always had but this was good distraction from the thought. “Thank you, and thank you for coming Liam.” She left her lips close enough to brush his as she spoke.

No, Liam definitely didn't mind the wet hair. Honestly, he wouldn't have minded the sweat, either. He was pretty certain at this point that it would be impossible for him not to want to touch her when she was near him. The smell of soap that clung to her skin was just a touch intoxicating though. Or maybe that was just her beneath it all. Liam wasn't sure yet, but he hoped he'd get the chance to find out. He grinned against her lips as she thanked him, humming something noncommittal in response so he wouldn't have to draw away just yet. Just a lite more, one more kiss, one more taste, then he let her slip back to stand on her own two feet again. "Some of that hug is from Caroline," he chuckled, hands lifting from her sides to her arms, where they trailed down until he was holding both of hers. "She wishes you a very happy birthday also." He had something for her from the other woman as well, but that could wait till later. "This place is huge." Finally tearing his eyes off her, he looked over her shoulder towards the rest of the island. "Makes Victoria seem so small."

One more kiss as he lowered her to the ground, she kept her eyes on him with a large grin still on her face. Undoubtedly she was overly happy he had some to see her on her birthday, it had however been selfish of her to ask knowing he had few days off from the Victoria base. There was guilt, but she hoped to make it up to him. “I’ll have to thank Caroline on twitter. How is everyone at Victoria? I know hasn’t been long since I was there but…” She still wanted to know how it was all going, if there was anything they needed or if there was any changes in what had happened to others. Even if they had found others. She swung her arms with his hands in tow as he looked over her shoulder at the rest of the island. “It’s HUGE, but what do you want to see first? There’s tons of things, and a few things we aren’t allowed to go for example the infirmary is currently in tents outside since some sort of explosion… I have no idea it was like that before I arrived.”

Since he'd been planning to visit unless she had had other plans, she needn't feel guilty about his presence on island. He was more than happy to be there, with her, making her birthday just a little more special than it might have been otherwise. Given where they were, what they'd been through, Liam had to imagine a birthday, or any holiday really, being a little bittersweet. He would do everything he could to make sure she enjoyed her day. He smiled down at her while she swung their arms back and forth. "Everyone's doing alright." As far as he knew. Someone would have told him if something had happened. "Explosion?" That had his attention. The smile faded a touch into something more concerned. Was it dangerous here? At least whatever had happened happened before she'd arrived. Still, it had the runic trainee squeezing her hands gently. "We can go wherever you want to go, it's your day. I'm just along for the ride." And he seemed perfectly content with that.

“Good I am glad that everyone is ok. No one needs anything right?” Harper almost made joking comment about him needing her but she decided against it, it was more or less her wanting him there. “Yes, I don’t really know the details but it was something I guess something in the labs went wrong? I don’t know, nothing to be really worried about one of those occasional occupation hazards I think.” She shook her head for him not to worry about it too much before grinning up at him. “Oh come on, I live there so I have seen all of it, ok almost all of it. So you should pick where we go.” She also didn’t want to mention that there was a few occasions that she had gotten lost and still hadn’t found some of the smaller places she was suppose to know. “We could go see the training grounds, the cafeteria? My room even, though I warn you it is not nearly as nice as your cabin.”

"I don't think so." At least nothing she'd be able to give. If it were up to Liam, Harper would be at the Victoria base with them, but that just didn't seem an option. Traveling back and forth was nice, but it just wasn't the same as being able to see her whenever he wanted to. "Well, if you're making me choose," he started, wrinkling his nose at her. "Maybe we can swing by the dorms so I can drop off my bag?" They could start the tour from there. Assuming they didn't get distracted first. Although honestly, that would have been alright with Liam. He was excited to see the island base, but he was more excited to see her. They had the whole day, surely that was enough time to fit in everything. He let one of her hands slip from his, but the other moved to lace their fingers together.

“Ok room it is! I warn you I haven’t had much of a chance to decorate yet. I did grab a few extra sheets and found some miscellaneous paint, hair dye, sort of do something color with them but they aren’t up on the wall yet.” It was a hodgepodge of items that she had managed to dig around, dye, markers, anything that made some sort of color, even scissors to cut out scraps to stitch on. The walls of course were dingy, the basement was not the greatest hall of rooms but it would do after living in the university. She let his fingers lace with hers, squeezing them for a moment as she took a few steps forward heading back to the room. Not that she was in a rush or anything, just really excited to share everything with someone.

Liam blinked. "Are the basement rooms really that bad?" The dorm they'd all lived in hadn't been bad. Not great, but not bad. The cabins at Victoria were disasters when they'd first arrived, but between himself and Caroline they'd got them looking livable. He'd assumed anything on Deus would be nicer than either of those, but the way Harper talked, if anything, it was worst. "Do you want help decorating?" He fell into step beside her as they started towards one of the big buildings. "Oh! Any luck finding anyone else?" He asked often. Not because he didn't think she would tell him, but because he could stop worrying about the ones they hadn't yet found.

“The basement is… interesting.” She grinned not wanting to really tell him that they were rather questionable especially at first arrival. Of course there were nicer rooms, but being a trainee she didn’t get the option of picking yet. There was a chance of one day owning on of the houses, if she had enough funds but that was not an option any time soon. No instead she would make do with what she had. “Sure only if you want to help decorate.” That of course would be another day not when it was his first day there and on her birthday. “Oh yes! My neighbor, Austin, was from the university. I told him to get on twitter and send a message to Caroline. Do you know him?”

"I don't mind helping." And he didn't. Liam was a selfless sort of person, and being helpful made him happy. Making other people happy made him happy. Besides, even if it didn't, for Harper he'd do pretty much anything. There was a very brief wave of delight as she mentioned having found another faction member, but faded quickly as he heard the words 'neighbor' and 'Austin'. And it wasn't that he wasn't happy the other boy was accounted for and alright, it was the proximity between his ex and the girl he was finding he liked more and more with each passing day. It was the weight of history that came with the blonde, and the possibility of old habits picking up again. His or Liam's. He gave Harper's hand an unconscious little squeeze before flashing her a relieved, albeit slight sheepish sort of smile. "Yeah, I actually went to high school with him, but he was a year ahead."

“No no, its ok I mean it’s my birthday we should do something fun. Decorating will always be around so we can save it for later.” Harper grinned, happy he was willing to help but another day would be ok. “Oh? So you know him, that’s good. I have to say I didn’t really talk to him when we were at the university, I mean I didn’t talk to a lot of people at the university for the longest time. But I am sure he will at least be happy to see someone he knows right? I know I would be.” She squeezed his hand back in return, noting the sheepish smile on his face. There were questions, but now was not the time to ask them. “The building is that one just ahead.” Pointing to a large building that looked as if it held several rooms, similar to a dorm.

"Yeaaaah," he admitted, trying for casual and mostly succeeding. "I know him." Well. Very well. Better than Liam was willing to admit. He could have gone on to say he didn't know if Austin would be happy to see him. Possibly, though not for any good reason. Instead he nodded, smiling at the lovely girl beside him as they walked, until Harper was pointing out the building ahead. "So what fun thing did you have in mind?" He asked, hoping to shift the conversation away from Austin and back onto her. Onto them.
