The Deus library was not his home. It was great for napping, but he could hardly do that here. Not with cameras on him and such; the local library back home was a little friendlier to his kind.

Today, though, he was genuinely perusing the collection of information. Not for anything in particular, to be honest, just wanted something to do to pass the time that didn't involve anything physical. For once. He was usually running around outdoors, training or at the gym or being forced to do pod duty or sentry duty or something. But it was typically outdoors and active, not indoors and snooze-worthy. Today felt a bit different, and so he was doing something...well, different.

He plucked out a random book from one of the shelves and settled at a table, flipping it open. It was a book about something Halloween-related of course, though what was inside he really didn't know. A lot of these books were unfamiliar, of course, so why this one in particular he couldn't say. But he cracked it open all the same and came to a page about some forest or another in Halloween, and he began to read. It started out boring, but slowly his attention began to get drawn in by something in the text. Artifacts, they were called, and this was the first time he'd come across the term. It was a curious thing..

Rhys paused his reading and glanced up, catching sight of Sin within yelling distance. The guy had been around longer, right? He probably had more knowledge about these things, right? Right. The brunette waved a hand at the blue-haired hunter to try and get his attention.

"Oy! Sin, yo, get over here, man!" he called, knowing full well that he was in a library and just blatantly not caring.

Sin accepted that sometimes, life wasn't what you wanted. You couldn't just spend all your time outside, some of it had to be holed up in a stuffy building with mountains of tedious books. As much as he liked to spar outside, he grudgingly accepted that studying was necessary to keep up-to-date. It was either that, or die. And that latter option didn't sound very appealing. So it was reluctant, and unwanted, but necessary. Though the lollipop protruding from his mouth was certainly his choice. Eating probably wasn't allowed in the library...... but Sin was not deterred by such trivial rules. Or it could have been the fact that no matter how much the library monitors stole his food, he always had more.

Besides, the food was the only thing keeping him awake. He covered a yawn quickly with his hand, feeling sleepy already. Reading long texts always bored him. It was going to be a miracle if somebody didn't find him asleep in a corner.. He was walking by, returning his current book for a new book when a shout of his name caused him to pause. He looked up to see Rhys, a familiar hunter, on an upper level calling out his name. "Hmmm?" He gave him a questioning look, unperturbed by the multitude of admonishing stares they were getting.

Within moments, he was at Rhys's side. "Why'd you call me?" Rubbing the back of his neck, and his easy saunter- he looked like a person who didn't belong to a library. He looked over curiously at the book Rhys had open. "Artifacts?"

When he was satisfied that he'd gotten Sin's attention Rhys went back to the book for a moment, flipping the page and reading through the general description of where these artifacts would be found, specifically. There was a highlighted and underlined word scribbled into the margin of the book that read "NOT EASY -- DO NOT ATTEMPT ALONE" so he was glad to have called over the other hunter when he had. It wasn't his intention to invite him on the trip per se, but now that he read the warning he probably would just to be safe. Two trainees were better than one, right?

When Sin had finally made it over and asked that simple question it immediately got a grin out of Rhys and he nodded, pointing to a particular paragaph that mentioned finding the location and other information they probably needed. "Yeah," he said as he skimmed through the text again. "Just opened this book up and found it, thought it was kinda cool but like hell I'm gonna do a shitload of research on what they are. I just wanna know the basics."

A heavy hand patted the open book to help emphasize his point as he looked up at the blue-haired hunter with a determined sort of glint in his eye. "So what can ya tell me? They impossible to get? Worth the effort? What?"

"Ah.." He had heard about this. Though he hadn't yet had time to go on a mission concerning these items. "Apparently, they're new items that fall into different classes. Sometimes they're used in regular life, sometimes they're used in battle. In terms of classes, Class E is the weakest, to Class S as the strongest items. And then we have everything in between." Diferent, varying levels of power.

"I've never had one, so I hate to tell you but I don't know how hard they are to get or worth the effort. Still though.." Just because he hadn't yet done it didn't mean he was never going to do it. You needed to try things the first time, in order to be experienced at it, right? "Do you wanna try and get one?" The grin that Sin slid over to Rhys indicated that he was up for anything, rather than just reading in a boring, stuff, old library. "And get the answers to your questions first hand?" That seemed much more fun than merely having verbal answers.

He made a face at the answer he was met with.

Rhys was hoping for a little more from someone who'd been around a bit longer than him. Though it was definitely informative, at least the first bit, but the part that mattered--the time investment part, at least to him mattered--was lacking. And it made sense to him, since the reason was that he'd never actually gone on a trip before. Like anything else, theory and actual were two very different things, and this was likely no exception.

With a sigh the brunette looked back down at the book for a moment, his thoughts not even going to the idea of going on a quest for one, until of course Sin mentioned it. His eyes shot over to the other hunter curiously, as if asking him to repeat the question. Rhys could read between the lines on his expression though, and much like Sin here he was a the sort that looked for things to do. Active things, like say, oh, going on a quest for an artifact. It sounded so Indiana Jones in his head but he didn't care. A grin spread wide on his face soon enough and he nodded toward the shelves.

"We should take notes on where to go first, see what else we might need. Little more research, maybe, then we go?"

A small smile flashed across Rhys's face then, one of excitement and daring. And it was good to have company that was least more familiar with the material than he was. He had just about zero idea what to look for as far as "requirements" went for these quests.

He shrugged at Rhys's face, giving him a vaguely apologetic look at being unable to answer more. In the end, Sin was still a trainee. He was working his way up to advance in the ranks, but that was still a way off. Slightly disappointing, but hey, there were worse things in life! The scribbled red note in the margin caugh this eye as well, warning the both of them not to go off alone. He mildly thought of asking several other hunters to come along, but quickly shoved the notion aside. As long as they didn't dabble in something too hard, they would be fine by themselves. Besides, hunters were sometimes a very individualistic community. Missions were performed in teams or in singles. And you needed to be prepared for both.

Sin agreed with Rhys's suggestion that they take notes and research further. It always helped to be prepared after all. Sin had learned through numerous missions that being prepared didn't always save you from death, but it certainly didn't hurt you to know. Picking up another book on Artifacts, he nudged the seat next over to Rhys to accommodate his larger frame. Luckily, it was already empty. They were later reading side by side. There were multiple books on this particular subject, since quite a few hunters were interested in these artifacts. Occassionally while they were reading, he would stand up and ask the librarian about a different book and scribble notes in a handbook off to the side. When his fingers weren't occupied with turning the pages of a book, it toyed around, twirling a pencil while he read. He was always doing something as he remained in the library, unable to sit completely still.

It didn't stop him from talking to Rhys either. "Did you want some food?" He offered Rhys a lollipop from his coat pocket. A discreet pick would reveal a handful of lollipops in the other hunter's pocket, leading to another question: were there other types of food in his other pockets? The answer was the world would never truly know about Sin's supply of food. Along with his cigarettes too though.

Whenever they finished reading on the artifacts and the requirements, Sin was ready for the mission.

It felt like they'd been at it for hours, but the lollipops staved off hunger and eventually Rhys felt confident enough about everything they learned and gathered in their notepads. He leaned back into his chair to stretch a bit; he wasn't used to being idle for so long (except for sleeping, obviously) so his body felt a little stiff. When he was done he gave Sin a clap on the back and moved to get up.

"C'mon, man," he said as he started gathering up the books to put away. "I think we're good to go."
