It was FRIDAY! Which meant it was the weekend. Glorious. Olga all but skipped out of her classroom, out the building, and was starting across the grounds to head off campus. She had mushed together enough change to get a smoothie before she went home, and she was utterly delighted. She briefly wondered if she could catch Sergei somewhere--- But then, something saved him. Another foreign hottie. Olga froze briefly as she caught sight of someone across the grounds. She had actually met him in person yet, but she read enough about him and seen enough pictures of him to know who it was. Holy crow. Holy crow. Holy crow. She had been hoping for an introduction from his girlfriend, but that was okay! With all the tact she possessed (which was none), Olga bellowed: "LOOOOOOOOORNE!" She then picked up to a jog, quickly closing the distance between herself and the young man, where she leapt in front of him. She grinned up at him, her expression turning fox eyed. "It's so good to finally meet you in person!" She gushed, just immediately going for it. "I've heard so much about you, and I've seen some pictures, even ones of you shirtles------wait." She paused for a moment, her eyes widening briefly. Oops. She then thrust out a hand. "My name's Olga! I'm Nadia's penpal slash friend!"

It was Friday. Which meant it was the weekend. Which meant after today, Lorne was going to go two whole days without having to worry about running into Archer on campus.
It'd been his constant fear ever since that first day when he'd ended up stumbling into him in the hall, an encounter that'd left him hiding in the bathroom until Colin could come and save him. It'd been a rough beginning to what was shaping up to be a rough semester. Not like he was really talking about it much, but with all the distractions, with all the... everything...
College wasn't exactly going that well. Some things were, but mostly... he hadn't really said anything to his friends, though, just because there was kind of enough going on and frankly, it was kind of nice having a place to just get away from everything. Whether it was by ducking into Nadia or Colin's embrace or hanging out with Auguste or Scholomance or his cousin or even his cousin's boyfriend -
If the voice calling his name hadn't been distinctly female, he would've panicked, and a nervous flush still across across his cheeks as he whirled to try and pinpoint who it was that'd shouted his name. It didn't take long; she was bounding towards him, making him take a reflexive step backwards as she stopped before him, his eyes wide and hands limp at his sides. "I, uh - "
Olga.
Oh! His stance relaxed a bit, though the tension never really left his shoulders, the same as the blush never left his cheeks. But Lorne did smile, however tentatively. "Olga! Of course. Nadia's mentioned you a lot, " and he took the offered hand - his grip was not exactly firm, but not exactly limp either, just light and prone to flight. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, I - "
He stopped short. The blush in his cheeks intensified, overwhelmingly red on his pale face. "Wait. P-pictures? Did you say shir - ?"

Olga didn't judge him too hard for the lame handshake. Nadia had told her enough about him for Olga to get the idea about his character. Besides, there was a part of it that was rather endearing. Like a deer! Or something like that. Her grip on his hand tightened, and she lifted it, turning it so that the back of his hand was turned up. She never looked down, and instead grinned widely up at him. She then started to pet the back of his hand, as if in reassurance. "Yeah, pictures! Yanno---a few here and there through texting! I'm a curious sort!" She also did not bring up the shirtless ones again as she pet his hand. "Say uh---are you busy? I was going to head to a smoothie shop not too far from campus---" She jerked her head in the direction of it. "Wanna come, too?"

The petting just had him blushing harder, although he guessed he should have supposed that a friend of Nadia's would be kind of touchy-feely - it wasn't that he exactly minded, he just - what didn't fluster him, really?
"O-oh... okay?" Lorne sounded a little questioning, still, but he smiled at her none the less in her nervous way, and gave a soft laugh that was much the same. "I'm terribly sorry, then - I'm really not terribly photogenic."
A chance to get off campus? The prospect of a smoothie was tempting enough, but the thought of getting away from here and any chance of seeing Archer again had him nodding perhaps a little too readily. "I'm not busy at all, I'd love to!" - that sounded too terribly over eager, didn't it? "I- I mean if you're sure, sorry - I, um, " don't want to risk running into an ex-boyfriend? "Really like... smoothies?"

He was so cute. Olga gave him her trademark fox eyed grin as she listened to him nervously talk. Still petting the back of his hand. "You're more like terribly adorable---and also terribly photogenic! You can't convince me otherwise!" Her grin got wider as he eagerly agreed, and she didn't think anything of the eagerness until he pointed it out. "Oh man---stop apologizing, guy! It's okay!" Olga flashed him a thumbs up. "I appreciate the enthusiasm for smoothies! They're awesome!" She let go of his hand, but grabbed onto one of his sleeves instead, and more or less started to drag him in the direction of the smoothie place. "Don't make me put a quote on how many 'sorry's you can say in one day." She looked back over her shoulder and winked at him. "Because I will!" She grinned once more. "So Nads told me you're from France! I think that's awesome! What made you want to come to the States to study?"

She was quite endearing, wasn't she? Lorne found himself quickly understanding the pull between her and Nadia - in a good way of course, not the 'that figures' sort.
"Oh, no, I'm not at all - " he started with his cheeks burning, and he kept trying to interject with a protest but Olga didn't leave him much chance to do it. So in the end he faltered and fell short, just allowing himself to be dragged right along without an ounce of resistance.
"I'm, uhm - that would be - a number, " and that was in no way helpful to her threat, his cheeks still burning and all the wrong words coming. Thankfully, Olga gave him an out, and he managed to regain some measure of composure. "My, uhm, father's family's from France, actually - my mother's side is from here - " he explained quietly. "We moved to France after we lost Grandpa; my father took over his restaurant, so... a-anyway..."
I had a dream about a terrible future in a padded cell. That would surely go over well.
"It's not really anything special; I'd just had a break-up so, I, uhm, needed a change of scenery, and here I am I suppose." He flashed her a sheepish smile. "And you, Olga? - what is your story, if you don't mind my asking?"

" Three." Olga told him, holding up her middle, ring, and pinky finger in demonstration. "The number of times you can say 'sorry' a day from now on is three--- so you better pick and chose carefully, guy." She grinned at him. "Nadia will back me up, so don't you think you can get around it!" The campus was soon behind him, since they both had long legs, and Olga was leading the young man down the University strip. "Ooooooh!" She hummed, delighted. "That's so cool! So you're like---half and half? Ah, man, to be living in France though---I hear the food over there is amazing! Just---all the way around, and to think your family has a restaurant too!? So awesome---" Olga then paused though, coming to a stop as she whirled around with the utmost horrified look on her face. He said he 'just had a break up' and she jumped to conclusions and immediately assumed the worst as she blurted: " You and Nadia broke up!?" Everything else was obviously not important in light of this.

"I - " Lorne stared at her, wide-eyed and red, stumbling and fumbling for words as though they were grains of sand. None came to him, and so in the end his jaw was left hanging open, the barest hints of a disbelieving sort of smile on his face. "But - "
Then she was talking again, and he didn't have much of a chance to interject; instead he nodded idly along; yes, half and half, yes, the food was good, yes, there was a restaurant, and yes -
Wait. What?
"Oh, no!" he blurted out, his face turning the most interesting shade of red as he vigorously shook his head, all but flailing his free hand in the air. "Never, I'd, no, never! - I mean unless she decided to - but, I hope she won't - I mean - n-no, not Nadia, definitely definitely not! We're still - sorry - "
His shoulders drooped sort of helplessly.
"My last, uh, boyfriend, he, uhm, ended it with me I mean. Not long before I came here."

Olga still had the most horrified look as she stared at him as he fumbled through his words, but once he got them all out, and she processed them, she immediately relaxed. She let out a loud and relieved breath. "Oh, whew! You scared me there! I was about to say, my beautiful and exotic foreign ship couldn't have sunk already! I'm so on board shipping Lornia! Plus, I need to see your guys's babies!" Olga exclaimed excitedly. "I told Nads I'd bet you guys would have the freakin' cutest babies ever! Half Russian - Half French and like tri-lingual---so cool---" She paused for a moment in her rambling, both to resume walking with him, but also to process the other subject. She seemed really surprised honestly, that someone would be the one to initiate a break up with Lorne. He was just so nice! "Why did your boyfriend break up with you?" Nosy as ever.

When she said she was relieved, his own shoulders sagged as if he were consumed by the same sensation - and really, Lorne was. He couldn't even entertain the thought of breaking up with Nadia, really, he couldn't. Not that some part of him still didn't worry she'd eventually have enough of him and his stupid quirks, much like Archer had claimed back when they'd parted ways.
Wait, though.
Did she just said -
"B-babies?" he just about squeaked, and as though he wasn't blushing hard enough before...
It didn't really diminish when she asked, although his gaze dropped, sliding his hands into his pockets. "I, uhm." However uncomfortable it was for him to talk about it, he was an honest man by virtue of his own inability to lie, and it wasn't like it was any big secret. "He couldn't really - I'm sort of - a handful, I - I mean - he was a lot better at handling, uhm - pretty much everything than I was. So he ended it - or he sure made it seem that way, anyway, " and he said the last part much more quietly, his brows furrowing in his own subdued frustration over the whole thing.
"Uhm, anyway, though - enough about me, please, " please please please, and he offered a soft, delicate smile, "Tell me some more about yourself."

If only she knew that his ex-boyfriend was Drew. Oh the rhyming. Olga's brows furrowed as she looked at him, and soon enough, the smoothie shop appeared in sight. She bounded ahead of Lorne, and opened the door for him. "Pssshaw!" She exclaimed, and waved a hand. "You're not a handful at all!" Despite only knowing Lorne through Nadia's letters and this short in person interaction she had with him now, she felt confident in saying that. "I mean---if he wasn't strong enough to stick around and work with you, then he didn't deserve you, anyways!" Olga declared, puffing out her chest like she was some kind of relationship sage---and she most definitely wasn't, considering she never had a single boyfriend to date. "After all, there's a saying---if you can't handle me at my worst, than you don't deserve me at my best!" She gave a firm nod, and then ushered the man in. Olga planted her hands on Lorne's back, and pushed him up to the smoothie counter, where she leaned and peered over his shoulder to look at the menu. Usually she got all shy and blushy being in close contact with hot guys, especially of the foreign variety, but since Lorne was a giant sweetie pie, and Nadia's---Olga felt at ease invading his personal space. "My favorite smoothie to get is the strawberry banana---oh! Well---I came here from Wyoming---and I wanna be a romance novelist, so I'm in the writing program!" She grinned at him.

Lorne just smiled at her through all her supportive words, understandingly, patiently... just not all together believing what she was saying, though. It wasn't that he didn't know by now Archer had been bad for him. But it'd be so much easier to just blame him for all of it, wouldn't it? To say he was a victim with no fault of his own was to say a change did not need to happen, and he didn't want that. He was changing, slowly but surely, a little bit each day. Sometimes too slow to tell.
"Thank you, " he said softly with a slight tilt of his head, truly appreciating the effort in any case. "I least I can safely say that many of the people that surround me now, they're... much like that. Taking me as I am. So I am happy now."
He squeaked at the pushing, but did not resist, his steps feather-like until they reached the counter. A soft peal of laughter escaped him. "Fancy that. That's my favorite kind, too, " he admitted, flashing her a smile. Then tilted his head to a side, eyes widening with a degree of wonder. "Wyoming? - oooh, how was it there?" he asked in his softly-eager way. "More suburban or rural? - also, that is fantastic!" An aspiring novelist! Who would have expected. "You should, uhm, sign something for me then - for when you become big, I mean."
