Nadya remembered how just a day before, the cool, dry autumn air gave her chills. Today, though, the heat was unbearable. Everything seemed so much different than the last time this happened, but the terror and the smell were the same. The burning wood crackled loudly as the mare fled from the flames, her heart racing and her mind in a panic. This situation seemed far too similar to what she had encountered years before. She was living her greatest fear, a repeat of the hell she'd narrowly survived after the drought. It seemed as if she simply couldn't outrun the heat and the noise that accompanied it. The cerynei felt desperate to escape, but it seemed as if it were no use. She was defenseless against the inevitable growth of the fire in which she found herself.

Prince Sebastian had smelled the fire from afar, but didn't expect it to reach him. He was lounging beneath an evergreen when the smell became overwhelming, and a small flash of black and brown made its way passed his small abode. Worriedly, he scrambled out from under the tree and couldn't believe how quickly things had gotten out of hand. He frowned as he looked for his small companion, only to find that he'd gotten the right idea and had fled without waiting. Seb made his way through the forest in leaps, somehow catching up to the cerynei mare. Her face was ash covered and it seemed as if she had been running an awfully long time. Concerned, he shouted to her. "Quickly, this way! There's a lake we can take refuge in!" He knew that water would be their only hope of escaping a fire this big, with nobody to help douse it. It seemed odd that a water 'suti hadn't at least calmed it slightly by now.

It was a typical day for Dotty McFearsome. She was quietly moping at her home by the lake, hating the world, hating life. As usual, she was mourning what never was and what could have been. She mindlessly kicked at rocks, watching them 'splunk' into the water. While she could smell smoke off in the distance, she figured that a two-legger had started a fire to get warm, or that a fire 'suti had gotten angry at something and decided to take it out on some brush. It never occurred to her that it could be much, much worse. Then again, for Dotty, nothing could seem to get worse than it already was. Life was miserable, existing was pointless, and all there was to do in the world was wither away into the abyss. She sighed heavily, kicking another stone into the lake.

Kaska trudged along the path she had been following for days to no avail. A gypsy mare had told her that at the end would be a teepee, and in it would be a fairly well-known green and black mare, of whom she believed to be related to. She had been moving for days now, stopping only to raid a few teepees along the way, none of which seemed to contain the mare she sought, nor anyone who would admit to knowing her. The hybrid believed the teepee to be somewhere near water, as she'd heard of it before, but she had no idea what she was looking for. If she was steered the wrong way, she was determined that she was going to find that mare one way or another to let her know just what she thought of her and her directions, and it would probably not go well for either of them.

Jayashri had smelled the smoke and instantly headed toward it. Fire usually meant that there would be somebody in need of help or healing, or both. Although she knew the risks, she felt as though the danger would be worth it if she could help just one individual. Persistently, she pushed on through the smoke and the ash, hoping to find someone. However, she truly wished not to find any creature that wasn't able to make it out. It would be horribly difficult to assist anyone who couldn't walk, or someone she couldn't carry such as a flutter. Adrenaline filled her body and her mind raced, hoping for the best outcome of this horrible disaster. When she reached the flames, however, she was forced to push back. Jay felt utterly defeated by this.

Adrastos had caught word of the fire not long before he was sailing high above it. His brows were furrowed and his heart raced. It was headed right for his grandmother and great grandmother's home, and he was worried they didn't know it. He was quite far away still, and the fire was quickly growing. The overwhelming smell of smoke filled his lungs as he soared on, determined to make it to his family's home. Though they were by open water, he was sure that there were some things worth saving in that teepee. He watched helplessly as so many ran ahead of the fire, spurring out in every direction. Though this was nothing compared to the fire years earlier, it endangered everything he loved, and that made it seem so much worse.

Rotom had taken Ali out for a picnic. Ever since the foals had come. They had little time for themselves. And now that the kids are off on their own and grown, it was the perfect time. Rotom had asked Ali to meet him under the willow near the lake so that he could surprise her with the food. So he was out gathering some apples from the orchard when other horses and animals started rushed past. His asterisk eyes followed a couple before he was able to catch one that was moving a bit slower.

"Hey what's going on? Why is everyone rushing off?" He frowned at the other before he was informed on a fire that was raging its way toward them. "Oh no..." Rotom thanked the horse and then rushed off to find Ali by the willow at the lake.

Neriah was just minding her own business doing her work when one of the familiars from Fiamma Eterna came rushing up after her with the news of the fire. But rather than running from it her orders were to run to it and guide anyone that needed help away from the fire. So with that, the small mare took off as fast as her little legs would carry her toward the burning forest.

As she got closer the heat from the fire pushed back against her and it was hard to keep getting closer. Her lungs burnt from the heat and she could feel the beads of sweat form and roll down her body. Her orange eyes squinted against the smoke, she helped a couple rabbits that got stuck and they took off and her eyes fell on a blue and purple mare that seemed to be looking around and then turned to run. Neriah made a bee line toward her. "Hey!"

Yasei could smell the hair on his tail burning as he rushed off. Man was that a scare! He was minding his own business getting some berries when he hear the crackling behind him. The wind was blowing downwind so he never smelt it creeping up. All of a sudden there was this intense heat! He spared a glance back at his tail with his brown eyes. The tips had burnt, thankfully it wasn't on fire. But he was near the start of it and had been running for some time now. He got himself turned around and almost right back into the flames. He had caught sight of a natural mare of the larger variety with dark hair and then out pacing him came a strange looking stallion with blues and purple, weird looking wings. The larger stallion caught up the mare quickly while Yasei struggled but he head the stallion mention something about a lake nearby.

"Hope you don't mind a 3 wheel!" He called after them as he followed.

Sapphireia Photona McIggins was just introducing herself about to start a small show when large amounts of smoke where spotted in the distance. The mare enjoyed signing for others, she had inherited her mother's voice and her father's starry eyes. Her pupils made it a little hard to see sometimes but even she couldn't miss the smoke that looked like it was near where he parents lived.

Her heart raced as she leapt from the stage. The others were all started to group and make for safety she dashed off. She would need to go toward the river and follow it to the lake to be able to make it that way to her parent's home. Her siblings lived farther off and would likely be okay, but her parents might not have enough warning. So she raced along the river toward home.

Ali was already at the lake. As a matter of fact she was under the willow waiting for her mate Rotom to arrive with a surprise. And as she waited the pink mare watch a regular sized horse with colors one orange and black take out some anger on a bush. The mare had candy shaped markings and seemed to really hate that bush.

When two horses came rushing toward the lake, her ears leaned forward, a natural mare with some pretty jewerly and dark hair, then a stallion of blues and purples with blonde mane and tail and then followed by an Usdia. Small in stature just like Ali. She watched and waited for the Usdia to approach, feeling a bit nervous around stampeding larger horses. "Hey. What's going on?"

The mare's eyes widened as she heard the small stallion speak. Suddenly, she slowed, feeling too guilty to leave him behind in his slower pace. "I don't mind, but you'd better hurry along now! I don't know how fast it's travelling!" She had tried her best not to look back to the flames, and she couldn't quite remember how long she'd been running from them. This nightmare of hers seemed almost too surreal to even be true, but she knew from the burning in her lungs that it was. The cerynei tried her best to keep her composure around the others, not wishing to cause any more panic than there already was. She hoped it wasn't too late to escape this dreadful situation.

Seb had already slowed down to keep pace with the mare, and it pained him to slow down even more to wait for their new short legged companion. Even his heart wasn't selfish enough to abandon others in such a time as this. His tail swayed impatiently as the mare spoke to the usdia, but as she did he noticed his small fawn still struggling to keep up. Grumbling, he made his way back for his little nuisance, scooping it up with a paw and tangling it into the base of his long braid. "Now don't you move, I'll not turn around again." He snuffed at the fawn, but he knew better than to think he could ever follow through with his threat. Hurriedly, he made his way back to the cerynei and the usdia. "Hurry now! To the lake!"

Dotty didn't notice the swarm of creatures at first. She was too busy wallowing in her own dread. However, it did not take long to notice them crowding the shores of the lake, making quite a clustered mess of things. Some made it into the waters, others stayed on the rocky beaches in hopes that it would be close enough to avoid getting scorched. Annoyed, she made her way over to the edge of the group in an attempt to see what it was they all seemed so terrified of. If she didn't have to speak to any of them, she wasn't going to. It didn't take her long to tilt her head to the sky and notice the billowing smoke. Oh great. As if things weren't hard enough on their own.

It took her quite a while to make it through to her destination. The thick canopy ahead had masked the visage of smoke, but she could smell it in the air. Curiously, Kaska looked at all of the animals gathered at the lake. It didn't take her long to realize that this was probably their only ray of hope. None of them had wings that were suitable for escape, and not many of them seemed capable of outrunning it. She scanned the crowd for her target, but saw nothing of interest. But perhaps, she thought, somebody here may know what she was looking for.
