Kiyelt drifted through the Oban markets feeling more at home here than he had back in tendaji, this was his home he supposed and it seemed like it always would be. He was in one of the larger cities to gather supplies before heading back to the small logging town that he adored so much. All his familiars were back there for once. He found it much easier to move without all of them attracting even more attention then they needed too. But he loved them what was a beast tamer to do? ..Get more critters obviously.

He walked about looking for interesting tidbits to take back to his friends when he thought he spotted a familiar form from the war recently passed.

"Hello there, I don't suppose you remember me but we fought together? If it is indeed you who I saw."

Ichil was dressed in commoners' clothes, a cowl obstructing her hair but leaving her face exposed. She was simply browsing the shops herself. Noblewomen were supposed to wear only the finest jewelry from commissioned jewelers, but Ichil found that common folk made things just as nice, if not better. She had gotten somewhat distracted, though, and picked up an imported fruit from a tall basket.

It was then that someone addressed her. A person recognizing her was never a good sign, so for a moment the young woman tensed and prepared to run. It wasn't one of her own, however. It was one of those Ice folk. In fact, it was one she recognized! He had assisted her on the battlefield when an enemy had come into close range. This was no threat, just a potential friend and maybe someone to flirt with, just a little.

"It was I," she said, still smirking as she placed the fruit back down where it had come from. "I remember you. You might have saved my skin." She stood with legs apart, hands on her hips and chin up as if she was sizing him up. In reality she was just admiring how different he seemed amidst the dark brown skin and black hair she was used to. "So thank you for that." She broke her stance and approached, still smiling softly.

"My pleasure to help someone who fights with such grace. As a beast charmer I admire survival skills,"and the rest of her he admired that too, the proud way she held herself just sparked respect in him.

"It was a good battle, I'm sure you would have been fine without my meager help. I must say it is nice to see someone I sort of know here." He chuckled. "Its not hard to get lost in such a crowd unless your blue." He grinned at her unabashed at his farting around. He needed some cheer and friends were just the thing.

Ichil's brows raised and she turned her head slightly while lowering her chin. Ohoho, there was some spice in this one! The other Ice folk she'd seen had appeared sort of... cold. Was that too cliche? This one seemed different regardless.

"Flattery will get you everywhere," she said, offering her hand to shake or do with it what he would. She was interested to see what kind of man he was. Her shake would be firm if that was his will.

"Ah, yes. Fire and Ice and all that, there's a pun in there I'm sure. I'm Ichil, and you?"

"Kiyelt, a pleasure to make your aquaintance Ichil." He grasped her hand gently and brought it to his lips. No he was not your typical iceling and he never would be now. Things had changed so much for him. "I fell in love with Oba, her fire sang in my heart and bid me return." Would that make him melt perhaps? Or was his ice eternal? Only one way to find out! He was determined to live life to the fullest. He felt like in Oba he could achieve that. Even if he did sweat more then was nessessarily healthy his body would readjust again. The thing he missed most about Zena was the quiet not the cold.

Idly he wondered if he was about to get beat up from passers by for his show of courtly drama. Oh well, he would probably trounce them as long as there were not too many. His muscles hadn't lost the edge that Oba had put on them and fighting a war wasn't exactly being a couch potato either.

A-ha! She wasn't sure why, but she had expected this man to go the way of archaic flattery. When ever she'd gone to dance with the soldiers she'd just let them take her by the arm. This was different. This was, above all else, incredibly interesting. Not only was this her first real conversation with an Ice tribesman, she'd managed to run across a particularly amusing one. He seemed willing to play her game and oh, she was willing to play his.

Ichil's smile broadened, and the glint in her eye sharpened. She put a hand over her chest playfully, as if about to swoon. "Well that's very poetic of you, Kiyelt. Such a strong name that is. Are you looking for anything particular today? I do live here. I have my whole life. Maybe I can be your escort." Double entendre totally intentional.

"Um something special for my friends back home, something that is hard or impossible to get in Tivrod. Something sentimental. There is a little girl looking after my hoard of beasties and I want to make her happy. She does a very good job no matter that she is quite outnumbered, outclassed and outsized."

"Besides that some spices, salt and other foodstuffs wouldn't be amiss." He was grateful for her help it was like a zoo in here. "I would like an escort, I'm afraid I still get turned around in crowds like these."

"Hmm..." Ichil tapped her lower lip in thought as she looked up and down the avenue. Something sentimental, hm? Maybe it wasn't a 'little girl' so much as a girl back home. What a shame. Good for him, though. "Come on. Food is easy. We can talk about your 'little girl.'" She was still thinking as she tugged Kiyelt by the arm toward a stall specializing in spices and dried seasonings. That'd be easy to start with.

"How little is this girl, exactly?" Were they looking for dolls or jewelry?

"Still a youngling yet, but she wishes to be a beast tamer, her parents understand and let her hang out with me. It keeps her out of the way of the foresters but shes actually a great help with my critters, they can't be looked after by just anyone."

He peered at the spiced and started bagging the important ones, the spices here were cheaper and of better quality so he filled up some bags holding ties in his mouth while his hands worked industriously. He was wary that the hot ones didn't make it to his eyes.

He grabbed a few dried fruits for himself, thinking that it would be funny to try to feed them to Iniu. His sailscale would put anything in her mouth but that didn't mean she would eat it. He also took some of the dried seasonings too. It was a long freaking walk and he was here to get stuff done. It would be a good work out with out his critters.

"Oh! There's a man here that does wonderful little carvings. Some of them are pendants, even. Or is a plush more appropriate?" Ichil watched Kiyelt start gathering goods without truly addressing the shopkeep and saw the Oban woman behind the stand wrinkling her nose. Ichil just smiled. What, was she going to deny his money because he was an Ice man? The war was over, lady. Racial tensions were slackened. Get with the times! She turned to take the ties from Kiyelt's mouth to tie his bags for him, deepenig the perceived connection between him and her. For once Ichil hoped she might be recognized. An Iceling with a noblewoman wouldn't find much backlash.

"Of course there are a lot of different gem dealers and jewelers. Ooh, or a child's whip maybe? Is that too dangerous?" She tied another bag, completely ignoring the shopkeep as well.

"Oh! A critter carving would be perfect, I wonder if they do Janarim or Sailscales, I think those are her favorites. I'm not sure shes a plushy kind of girl but I could be wrong, I think a carving would survive better though." Kiyelt noticed the woman too. Interesting. "Maybe I will get her a whip too, with luck she will take after me." He snorted. "What will her parents think?"

Kiyelt was too busy shopping to really care what the shopkeep thought as long as the woman took his coin then whatever. If not well there were smarter Obans to buy from. Once he had all the spices ready he asked for a quote on the price for it all.

"I've seen janarim carved before," Ichil said with a nod. "Why do you say that? Is she Oban? I'd rather like if my child ended up strong and successful, and caring to boot." She shot Kiyelt a coy half-smile as she tied up the last bag.

The shopkeep looked down her nose at the Ice man, which was a bit difficult considering how tall he was. She quoted him a price and took his coin, and then Ichil took Kiyelt by the arm and began to tug him away. "Come. I'll show you the carver I'm thinking of and you can tell me if he's to your liking. If not, we can find someone else."

"Well yes she is Oban," then he blushed deeply. Ichil was a quick wit that was for sure. "Well thats not exactly what I meant but thank you, her parents seem like nice enough people, shes with me more then them but they both work."

He followed after her complacently, admiring her strong character. He gasped when they arrived at the carvers. "They are so life like its amazing!" he should know he had spent long hours taming janarim..or for the most part trying to tame janarim.

"Ah, so you're 'Uncle Kiyelt'," Ichil replied. She had a few of those; uncles and aunts that weren't blood-related but good friends of the family. They didn't all approve of her, but hey, who did any more? It was good that at least one family had accepted someone of another race. In fact, it was fantastic that a great deal did nowadays. The wars had changed everything.

When they arrived at the stall and Kiyelt gave his exclamation, Ichil clapped her hands together and grinned. "See? I told you he was the best!" She had seen battle janarim plenty of times before, although she preferred to not think about the times they were bloodied.

This was how first meetings with Ichil generally went. Some poor soul found themselves dragged from place to place. If they enjoyed it, they stayed. If they didn't, it was no skin off her nose. Kiyelt seemed to be taking it awesomely.

"I can't imagine how long they must take." Of course then that made the carvings a mite more expensive than some could afford on pretty baubles, but she could handle it if it came to that.

"Me either they are so intricate, they look like they could just walk off the table. Kiyelt found two janarim figurines. "Which do you think she would like more the one standing or the one lying down?" Both pieces were so fine that he could not choose between them himself.

He enjoyed her company she was very spirited and decisive a nice change for him, he had been alone in Oba for too long it seemed.

"I wonder what the prices are like I may have to work up to one but I at least know where they are, she will be so delighted and really all I need money for is food."
