Calder had been outside, training the seapent he recently befriended. It was a recent discovery he made in the lake and after they swam around and he showed it now harm, he started to warm up to it and made it a point to return to the lake to continue spending time with it. Now it was out of the water with him and while far less quick as Calder was outside of water, it still followed him about and provided some entertainment.

Laying about in the grass, he glanced at his phone as a text came in front Barth to come inside. Peting the seapent, he made a motion for it to stay and walked inside, leaving it at the door as it laid there, waiting.

Inside, he found Barth in the living room.

Calder made a glance abotu for any thorns before looking back at him. "Everything ok?"

Barth had been keeping the thorns (as best he was able) trimmed and out of sight. Although he'd repressed them for a century, the restraint didn't come as easily at it once had. Calder might still catch the occasional shifting under the rug. Barth wasn't entirely sure what had made Calder shy of them. It was Calder who had helped him come to terms with them in the first place, and although it was no longer as sensitive an issue as it once was, he was still a tad self-conscious. He also didn't what to make of the strangely sentient patch of thorns that had begun to grow in the stable that was not from him.

They had all had strange dreams.

The calendar, too, had been steadily ticking towards the height of the season, the focal point of their power and the night where the barriers between this world and the human world grew thin.

Barth was lying bonelessly in one of the chairs, although he looked slightly more harried and ruffled than usual, although not too worse for the wear.

"Everything is fine," Barth said in a strained way that was edged with determination. "Just fine. Zar and I have had a..." he paused heavily, before deciding, "discussion."

Here, Barth's tone did finally soften, "about a visit to the pumpkin patch."

Zar was there in the living room too, albeit not on a chair or skulking around where he would normally be. Instead his presence was given away solely by the tragic groan which came from behind the couch where he was sprawled on the floor like a very limp tragic lump, not even able to lift his tail.

"I think I shall stay home." he said with words that were a lot slower and more enunciated than usual.

Calder slowly sat down in a chair, looking at Barth with caution.

Hands in his lap, he twisted the fabric of his kilt for a moment before smoothing it out. "A discussion?" He startled when he heard Zar, not having noticed him at all and rising up from his chair.

Walking slowly, with a given space about Barth, he looked behind the couch to see the demon on the ground. His eyes went from Zar to Barth.

Holding the back of a chair, he looked at the pair of them. Despite all that had happened, he still felt a flutter at the mention of the pumpkin patch. It had been something he was sure to bring up when he was still at Amityville dreaming of going away with Barth, but things had changed. He had changed. Their home was much larger thand different than he imagined.

And recent events had him wondering how capable he was.

But he still had worries, and that fluttering excitement was caged in with concern. Zar and I had a discussion.

For all that could mean, they alone would be going....maybe they had talked about wanting a scarling...

Or....

...their discussion was about how they didn't wish to make any visits to the pumpkin patch.

He bite his lips, glancing at them both. "Are....you two okay....Zar?" He asked, looking at the demon on the floor.

Had it been.....a disagreement.......an argument?
Then again, for all he knew, they could have just had a good time together. Calder hadn't exactly been visiting Barth after his volunteering in the human world.

"He is also fine," Barth gritted out slowly, "and he is extremely eager to go."

He pronounced things carefully, around the artifact.

"We were wondering how you felt about it. If you were...ready. Halloween is getting closer, and we've had enough time to settle into the house."

Zar made a nasal sound of dissent at Barth's comment before the subtle tug of obligation stirred in his chest and he reached helplessly for the couch for a few moments before letting his claw drop back to the carpet. He didn't bother raising his head in the process.

"Ugh."

He sighed, "Eager. Is not really the word." he said, offended by the implication he would be eager for anything.

Calder pressed his lips thin as he looked at Zar.

"I......" He knelt down to regard Zar. ".....I've always wanted them. I never had siblings or a big family...and recently....different parts I never was conscious about....that have been new to me......want it more." Parts he had only started to form and become familiar with because of Zar.

He went to try and touch Zar's hair, giving a little smile. He looked cute all tuckered out.

"...but that's just me."

He wasn't the only person in the castle.

The wondered what they had discussed. Zar didn't seem all that eager about any of it, but then again, he couldn't be sure what Zar wanted most days.

He looked at them both. "I didn't know you two wanted scarlings." Barth had seemed hissy about it last he mentioned them.

"Ah, good," Barth seemed relieved.

"I've always been fond of scarelings. I wasn't...initially very keen on having demons, admittedly. Pardon me, but my family can be a bit...much." Barth sighed as he looked over at Calder and Zar on the floor. "But I've warmed up to the idea. I would...very much like to."

Zar gave Calder a long look from where he lay, feeling the old irritation stir in him at Calder's comment he had always wanted scarelings. He was well aware of this fact, having been aware of it from even before he had a hope in hell of being part of the kelpie's relationship. Still, it was mostly fear an inadequacy rather than actual malice he felt about it all. He couldn't be bothered with the effort it would take to get angry, feeling as if he hadn't slept in years, every movement an effort and every blink an attempt not to fall asleep.

"I don't." Zar said languidly in response to the accusation of wanting scarelings. "I loathe young stupid things."

Barth's comment that he like Calder also wanted scarelings seemed only to set the Incubus even more against the idea, as always immediately panicking about seeming too eager about the things he wanted but did not feel he deserved.

"You two can have some I'm sure, that was always the plan. I'll just..." and he trailed off, not out of emotion but out of almost dozing off. "I'll just... stay here."

Calder continued to watch Zar. "We didn't have plans." Calder had a desire but it was never something set in stone that it would happen.

"Even if we did, a lot of things changed since back then." Zar, the house, and many other events both fun and scary.

Frowning, he rose up to look at Batth and nodded his head in the direction of Zar, confused. He thought they talked about them all going. The incubus seemed against it and how could they make scarlings if they weren't all on board.

Barth smiled very slightly. "Normally I would very much indulge that inclination of yours to do nothing. But not today. Grimhold, I have need of you."

He did not call loudly for the vampire, but nonetheless the driver appeared with a rustle and shift of shadows, a dry book in his long fingers. "Traveling today, Master Barth?"

"Yes, although not off the property. We'd like to go to the East field. Please take Zar to the carriage."

Grimhold hesitated for only a moment, sizing up Zar like a particularly unwieldy piece of luggage. "Of course." He reached down to grasp one of Zar's claws, grip and the force behind it surprisingly strong with the distinctly raw force that an undead whose muscles didn't understand strain. Grimhold had also had a lot of practice in moving limp bodies. "Up we come, Master Zar."

"You alllways had plans." Zar drawled out to Calder rolling his eyes. "Plans I just had to shift to adapt." However there was none of the usual bitter nastiness in Zar's tone and in fact he looked rather pleased and satisfied with himself, too comfortable to exert the effort to frown. This contentment vanished as he found himself lifted by Grimhold, too laden with sleep to resist the indignity of being hefted up in the vampire's arms.

"Unhand me." he said without much force behind it, lolling his head back and closing his eyes. "You brute." His tail, normally reflexively wrapping around other people for balance did not respond at all, a limp noodle which simply added to his rather significant weight.

"I have never been so outraged." And even his complaints were stated at a slow and leisurely, almost languid pace, coming off more sultry than offensive.

Calder beamed at Grimhokds impressive strength, but his attention snapped in a moment to Barth.

"Wait. We're doin this now. Now-now?!" He looked at where Zar was being taken back to Barth before walking closer to the sloth demon. "Is now the best time for this?" Barth went to the same classes as him. He was sure the demon knew scarlings required sharing energy and concentration, not to mention a desire for scarlings. Zar didn't seem able at the moment to even life his head. It was all so sudden!

"Is everyone ok with this?"

PostPosted: Tue Oct 27, 2015 2:42 pm

"Today," Barth clarified, "Zar and I are in Agreement." He put odd emphasis on the last word.

Grimhold took up Zar's legs in a swift motion, carrying him like a maiden. He had occasionally carried Barth this way, although the Sloth demon did not complain nearly so much. He was doing his best to entirely avoid looking at Zar's exposed throat.

Barth stood, surprisingly, on his own. The shifting under the rug intensified before shrinking backwards towards the sloth demon.

"Agreement." Zar groaned dramatically. "I didn't agree to anything, I am not agreeable to this act of ha ha agreetion." He seemed to find this amusing enough to forget his complaints, quite comfortable in Grimhold's arms, not that he could have done anything much about it even if he wasn't. "What's the hurry?"

He gave Barth an upside down look from across the room. "Maybe we should jussst leave it. Calder's having second thoughts."
