Backstory: Awiagina was once a high-status Honored Woman on a reservation in Oklahoma. Before the Day of Fire, she was a leader among her people, tending to and taking care of disputes, sitting in on discussions, and adding a strong voice that could be heard on behalf of the women in her tribe. It was by sheer luck that she escaped the fate that her tribe had. She was on a cruise at the time, in the middle of the ocean with her sister when the world exploded. Upon reaching the shoreline, the devastation and inability to return home faced them.

Try as she might, she could not save her sister. Radiation poisoning seeped the life from the younger woman, and Awiagina watched as her sister faded in life, while she herself became stronger. Riddled with survivor guilt, she stepped away from her sisters burning corpse (to set her spirit free) and begin to wonder until she had found others...like her. Others who had turned different.

Her spiritual beliefs led her to embrace her physical and mental changes more freely. She accepted herself and her changes without a doubt, and it would not take very long until she was a leader, appointed by others who had survived and changed. Often she spoke to those who were having trouble adapting. She was smart, and gathered those who had knowledge of how to create, build, and survive, and turned them into the council. It was not long until they had built an underground sophisticated city and system, with her decorated horns and wings on the mantle as the leader.

At first, she tried to welcome those who had not mutated... but it was clear not see that the veins of hate that had run so long into history had not been burnt out with the rest of the world. And after a few heated incidents where blood had been shed, she had banned the rest of human kind, welcoming only those who had been outcast by the changes that had come with the radiation.

When the war broke out, she had no problems rallying her people. It was time of war. And the only way to stop the hatred and move the world forward was to rid the world of the hate that came with the Unchanged.
Other: Deep inside, buried under all the personal of the leader, there is a grief stricken woman who was once kind and gentle. Awiagina has the ability to turn a leather touch into velvet...should someone break through her exterior.

Gender: More comfortable displaying masculine traits, but tends to identify as agender post-mutation.

Personality in 3 Words: Sweet but salty.

Backstory: If your definition of 'average kid' these days is 'quiet, kinda nerdy kid that likes games and books and movies', then Remi is your guy. He had a family, went to school, made a few friends, but only one truly close friend. While most of the people he had known had drifted away or died in the crisis, his closest friend had stuck with him through thick and thin. They were like siblings - the kind that didn't have to share a living space. In short they believed they were inseparable. Even after Remi was orphaned in the nuclear crisis, even as he went through his mutations and became a varian, they still stuck by him as if nothing had changed.

But eventually the war reached their little suburb, and despite Remi's friend sticking up for him when other humans became hostile towards him, they were eventually torn apart; Remi's friend spirited away by their family to safer places, while Remi was left to fend for himself in the newly ravaged land.

A few years pass, and Remi learns to grow up fast. He learns to present as hard and bitter to protect himself and not look like a vulnerable target, but he still keeps his caring nature in secret. His outward facade keeps him safe, and earns him respect from his peers. He eventually finds new purpose with the varian army, and rises through the ranks to become second-in-command to the leader. As the war goes on, the leader's goal becomes less and less like it was originally, and Remi begins to feel uncomfortable with his role in the affair, but he sticks at it, in the vain hope he might secretly be able to find his long lost friend... or at least discover what happened to them.

Other: The mutations turned the pigmentation of his body a deep, navy blue. The only thing that remained unchanged was the whites of his eyes and his internal organs. Despite this, he occasionally gets his hair dyed to his original colour with the help of some of the other varians (just because it's a war doesn't mean they can't have some creature comforts - pardon the pun) to make him feel a little more like himself. The deep colour of his newfound pigmentation meant that he was quite efficient at blending in with the darkness of night, and this made him very useful for nighttime recon missions.
