Quote: Survey Mission 13H Location: Las Vegas, Nevada Images:: x, x General debriefing: There's rumours going around that something big is going down at a costume party in Nevada. It's not a black tie affair by any means; most people will be attending in outfits ranging from store bought to custom-made; which will make it easy for any hunters to slip in undercover.
While the whole thing is simply an excuse to get together to celebrate the spirit of All Hallow's Eve, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. There's too much money and bluster going on to not be covering something up, and the tips we've been given only confirm more of the same.
Find out what they're doing, and stop the deal from going down, by any means necessary-- and remember: don't get caught.
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, and at least one of them must be an Intermediate Trainee.) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the main portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 13H. This mission requires a disguise! Pick out a costume for your hunter, with a way to cover at least half their face! (Makeup and wigs are acceptable!) You can assume the quartermaster has some to borrow, within reason, or they can acquire their own. Everyone on this mission will have a radio earpiece, super-spy like, so even if you get separated, you'll be able to talk to each other. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a BOSS ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: The ballroom is packed to the brim, and noisy to boot. You manage to listen in to a series of conversations that seem suspicious between two shady figures in a corner. But they catch sight of you, though, and scatter into the crowd, talking into their wrists. Stay alert. 21 - 30: You decide to check out the basement, which takes a bit of lock picking (or breaking). Worry not about security: it looks like someone else has already taken care of that, a glowing red device attached to it, probably feeding it an empty loop. A level down, you find a bunch of crates, filled with familiar runics tinged in red. But you hear someone coming down the hall-- better get back to the party. 31 - 40: Something brushes you as the hors d'oeuvre go by, and it takes a few minutes to realize that a bug has been planted on you. It stays on you until your next roll. After that, you crush it, but... if you said anything, assume it's been compromised. Eyes seem to focus on the back of your neck, but it's impossible to find the source. 41 - 60: It looks like action is about to get started. People start filtering towards the doors, all of them discreet, but you are on the lookout, after all. But tailing one leads you nowhere; a diversionary tactic. Better get back to the hall and try again. 61 - 80: Someone mistakes you for a server, and you get hustled back into the kitchen and loaded up with a plate of food or drinks, and then shoved right back out of the kitchens. To not blow your cover, you need to, well. Serve. Roll 1d10 and get a 7 or above to offload them all. It wasn't for naught, though: you managed to confirm there's a huge deal going down at the stroke of midnight, down in the basement. You better be there, or be square. Or, you know. Fail your mission. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - It's time. You've managed to tail someone to the levels far below the party, enough that the din has dulled to a low roar. You can hear yourself think, but you can also hear low murmurings as you approach the site of the deal you've been looking for all night. It's not creatures of FEAR, you find, but several men and women. And they are armed to the teeth with weapons that glow blood red. The other half of the bargaining party decide that discretion is the better part of valor, and slip out the door, taking only as many goods as they can carry. The armed figures block off every exit, and every camera has been shorted. There's no one that can hear you scream, and that's fine. You are a hunter, and now, it's time to prove your worth. - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a number of humans that have a collective 100 HP. They use red runic weapons, but have no shield. It's numbers they have on their side, and in great excess. Every time you attack the boss (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. After Boss defeat:Upon the death of the final enemy-- the rest having fled-- you realize they've activated a self destruct button on the crates of supplies they were trying to sell. They'd rather they be destroyed than return to Deus' hands, especially in the wake of the failures of the Delta Event. The weapons have crumbled to dust in their crates-- but there's still some laying around by the dead bodies. Better take some back to the island. (Note: You cannot keep these. They will be confiscated upon arrival.) Roll 1d4 to determine what is dropped 1. Red runic weighted chains, several links loose. 2. Red runic daggers, one of them cracked. 3. A box of red runic bandages, half empty. 4. A red runic trap gun, with both the trigger and barrel busted. * 2 mission reward points for completing this successfully Halloween Raffle Bonus! You may collect 2 Raffle Tickets for completing this External Mission! Go HERE to claim!

Scout was on time and sat by the portals anxiously checking her wristwatch. Had she gotten the wrong time? Was she in the wrong place? These were the sort of questions that always ran through her mind as she was waiting for people.
It was even worse when she didn't know either of the people she was supposed to be meeting. There was no face to match to the names, just an awkward sit by the assigned portal.
Okay, be cool. It wasn't the end of the world, it wasn't going to ruin her career. Worst came to worse she would just ask one of the nice portal techs for help. Easy as that.
Her weapon was making pigeon noises at the moment. Maybe the coos were an attempt to soothe her?
Thanks for nothing, birdbrain..

A hunter turned up, although this hunter wasn't the same person he had been a few hours earlier.
Actually it was, it was just he was wearing a large poofy dress, a long red wig to cover the blonde hair, and his face was covered in makeup. The mission required them to be incognito, and Jason had struggled to come up with a subtitle disguise, either unable to find the materials he needed, the costume he wanted being sold out, and the ones that were available being kinda expensive. Whatever the excuse, this was the only thing he could get in such short notice.
And his weapon was just loving it
Zanth replied, flamboyant rich person accent and everything.
The moon hunter sighed, looking at Scout dejectedly, before mumbling a small, "H-hello:

He was a little later than he meant to be.
Putting together a costume had proved a harder task than he thought possible, so he'd spent the better part of his day rummaging through the numerous boxes in his room (that technically weren't his, but he didn't care). He eventually managed to put together a sad excuse for a Gaston costume and made his way to the portals. There were already two others waiting there, so he jogged the rest of the way.
‹ He looks lovely. › Zephira said, clearly amused.
The brunette stifled a snort as he nodded by way of initial greeting. "'Sup," he said as he adjusted his collar. "Is it just us then?"

Scout was in a very drab, very basic witch costume, because she couldn't pick anything too outrageous. Being a witch with a sniper rifle was sort of silly anyways.
She looked to the other two, nodding at Rhys' question. It was supposed to be a three person mission.
She tried not to give looks at Jason's costume but ... well there were some looks. But that was rude, and she tried to look elsewhere.

Of course both of them were staring at him, leaving Jason to sigh wearily and, lifting his dress so it wouldn't drag on the floor, walk through the portal towards their destination. He was met with the hum of constant chatter, wine glasses clinking as people proposed toasts to things, and the general finery that accompanied a upper class party. Having read the mission debrief, he was aware that they would be trying to bust a deal of some sort, and being the most senior member on the team he would have to look out for the other two, obviously just trainees. "C-can you two hear me?" He whispered into the ear piece, blending with the crowd and watching everyones movements, looking for anything suspicious. It wasn't long before Jason saw something strange; A person sneaking behind a picture frame. "Okay, follow me, b-but subtly." He moved through the crowd, then reached said picture. On the surface it appeared normal, but slipping a hand between the portrait and the wall revealed a small space one could squeeze through, and a secret door to boot. He slipped in and through the door , quietly following the person walking down a set of stairs, before vanishing behind another door. He waited a few moments before opening it, entering a much larger room. One filled with people, all staring at him, holding weapons that glowed a vicious red. "...Ah, s**t

The nod worked well enough to answer his question.
Rhys fixed the wig on as his eyes traveled back to Jason and another snicker escaped him, and he finished his costume off with a mask that clashed horrendously with his outfit, but it served its purpose and wasn't nearly as bad a fate as the guy in the dress. He'd dismissed the costume as one of those amusing "to each their own" situations and followed after him through the portal and into one hell of a swanky party.
Clinking of glasses and moderately decent costumes seemed a standard fare, and there was a constant chatter and some kind of holiday-esque hum in the air. To blend in he offered a smile to a passing server and picked himself up a glass of wine and meandered through the crowd, breaking away from the small group for a time. The mission was simple enough and they weren't out of communication with each other, so it seemed alright to do.
"Loud and clear," he responded as he caught the eye of a barely dressed cat burglar. Rhys just flashed a smile and moved on, keeping his own eyes peeled for anything that looked...off. Far as he could tell there was nothing going on there, until Jason's words filtered through the little super-spy earpiece and he found his way back to the senior hunter. He hung back, tried to be subtle.
He was new, but he'd seen all the movies. He could only hope he was doing it right.
"I didn't really think this kind of s**t existed," he said as he slipped past the hidden doorway a beat or so after Jason. "Any idea who we're tailin' exactly?"
He'd turned his head to see if Scout was behind him, and so hadn't noticed that the hunter ahead of him had stopped and subsequently bumped into Jason, shoving the other guy a bit further into the now silent room. Filled with people that didn't looked the least bit pleased about their presence. Armed with weapons. Red, glowing ones, and lots of them.
"Ah, s**t is right," he muttered as he summoned Zephira. The sword materialized in a pale blue light right in his hand, and swung rather viciously at the first guy that came at him.

Scout followed the other two dutifully, and when Jason called over the comm she said, "Yes, sir."
The place was already overwhelming to her because parties were not her place (she was far too boyish, far too overt with her worlds) but even more so when she had to be on the lookout for a mystery target, which meant actually making eye contact with people.
The sigh of relief that came out of her when Jason said to follow him was so audible it was painful. Thank god she was being given some direction.
Well s**t seemed to be the theme in encountering the red weapons humans. That ... that wasn't normal.
Seeing as her weapon was a sniper rifle, being up close and personal was sort of pointless. She took her time trying to find a spot away from the horde that she could get a good shot in.

the weapons glowed ominously in the dark, leaving a glowing trail as the humans came at Jason from all sides. For once the hunter kept his cool, stepping in front of Rys to block the incoming attacks. This was gonna be hard, he couldn't defend two people at once, especially against so many people at once. He tried to ignore the glowing red and focus simply on wailing against whoever tried to get a hit on him. He obviously wasn't focusing too much on defense, but he did briefly notice Jason blocking hits that were clearly aimed him.
"Thanks," he said was he sliced clear through a guy's face. There was a pause and he had enough time to look around for the third one in their party.
"Yo, girly, you okay?"

"Fine," she called, having found a little set up by knocking over a table and ducking behind it for cover.
As though emphasizing her point, she took out one of the humans via headshot that had been inches from getting to Rhys. Scout may have been quiet and polite, but she was a good shot when it came down to it. She had technique, she just lacked experience.
"Sir I can cover you!" she informed Jason, giving him the go to to attack.

Jason had plenty of experience, and some technique to boot. Though seeing the people fall to the ground, one with his face sliced open and another with a gunshot wound to the head, made him feel queasy. He was used to fighting monsters and horsemen, or even hunters with FEAR shields. Not other humans. His bit his lip, wondering if they were still alive.
'You may say that...' He frowned, then spun as one of them came up close and personal with red glowing dagger. There was no room to maneuver out of the way, his shield taking a beating. With a flick of his wrist, he ran the guy through with his sword.
No, he really wasn't affected by this...not at all.

"Heh," he chuckled as he watched the now-dead guy go down. "Nice shot."
It was probably lack of experience that made him a bit more reckless, slashing away and diving right into the fray of things. If his shield could talk it probably would have been yelling obscenities at him; Zephira was doing just about the same thing, but he didn't care. All he saw were bodies coming at him, armed to the teeth and striking with intent to kill.
A combination downed the next guy, and Rhys quickly plunged his sword into the guy's chest to end him. "Is it just me or does this feel a little endless.." he groaned after glancing up to see more people closing in.

Seeing Jason go on the offense made her a little relieved. At least then she didn't feel like she had a job to be this super commando person. Now she could just focus on keeping the crazy people off of Jason.
Scout took no joy in shooting other humans, but she knew they had a job to do, and Scout didn't leave the job unfinished. She could carry the ghosts later- right now she shooed them away.

Ryhs had a point, there were way to many people here. Jason continued to hack and slash away at each person who came close, keeping a eye on the two trainees nearby. Their shields were taking a bashing, his only marginally better. "Be careful!" He called out. blocking a runic dagger aimed at his heart. HP: 36 Damage 6 Charge: 3/3 Boss HP: 58
