WHO: Kyou, Lazarus, Henry and Ethiriel WHEN: Late summer / Early Fall, around 3pm WHERE: Botanical park WEATHER: Cloudy
Ever since the tea party, Lazarus had felt terrible about not getting back to Ethiriel again ever since their initial meeting at the entrance. He had been so busy and preoccupied with catching up with old friends and other work at the party that he had completely forgotten about it! Only afterwards when he was cleaning the tea table that he remembered.
He also remembered that Ethiriel had wanted to meet Kyou again. It wasn't a surprise that Kyou too, had not met with Ethiriel during the tea party. So Lazarus felt compelled to do something about it.
Calling up the Knight household one day. Lazarus asked if Ethiriel would be interested to meet him and Kyou at a botanical park halfway point between the Lab and the Knight's residence. It's been known to be a peaceful place, with gorgeous flora and a even a large green house with tropical plants. It would be good for Kyou as well, getting up and about more would help his recovery.
It is at the entrance of the green house, on a bench underneath the shade of a large tree that Kyou sat as they waited for Ethiriel. With Lazarus stood idly nearby. The weather was nice today, the heat of the summer had subsided, and it is in the middle of transitioning to fall weather. That comfortable middle point where it is nice to wear a long sleeve shirt without feeling too hot or too cold. And that is what Lazarus is wearing today, a dark grey cotton shirt with a few buttons up top, as well as jeans. Of course, he had to cut holes in his pants to let his tail go through.
While Kyou is dressed modestly in a light grey button up shirt with sleeves rolled up, tucked into his navy blue dress pants, styled with suspenders and a little bow tie. The crutches lean against the arm of the bench as they waited, enjoying the nice cooling weather as they watch the people all around them.

While initially the phone call had been unexpected, Ethiriel greatly appreciated Lazarus’ care over the matter and happily agreed. She hadn’t had the chance to finally meet Kyou in his waking moments at the party, so she was more than willing to meet somewhere. Henry was also quite eager to meet with the good Doctor, having only met Jeremy in less than pleasant times for the Frei.
This would be good for her.
Henry, as usual, wore a nicely fitted t-shirt and jeans – his classic appearance. Meanwhile, Ethiriel had been dolled up for the occasion by the nurse in question; wearing a white sundress with pale green details and her hair up in a high, braided ponytail, the Frei looked like she was out for a photoshoot. Had Ethiriel been able to see, she would wonder why she was always dressed better, or at least with more care, than he was.
”Laz! And Doctor Kyou, I presume?” Henry called as the two of them piled out of the nurse’s car. He was quick to make his way to the other side and loop his arm carefully around Ethiriel’s arm before approaching. ”It’s nice to finally meet you!”
Once the silver Frei was close enough to catch both Laz’s and his guardian’s scents, she gave a humble bow of her head. ”A pleasure to meet with you again, Lazarus. And you, Doctor Kyou… It is an honor that I finally meet you, as well.”

When he saw the car pulled up by the road side, and Ethiriel through the window, Kyou began to get up. He could see from the corner of his eye that Lazarus came forward, trying to help probably, but he held up a hand to stop him. He could get up himself. Slipping his arms into the crutches, he pushed the rubber tips firmly into the grassy ground and propped himself up. The dirt underneath the right crutch came loose and suddenly give way, slipping sideways. But with a quick reaction, Kyou managed to keep himself up by moving it to the pavement just inches away.
His heart raced slightly from the sudden maneuver, but he managed to keep his bright smile as Henry and Ethiriel made their way over. One step at a time he moved forwards, till they meet in the middle of the wide pavement of the park. "Yes." He nodded at Henry. "It's nice to meet you too." Golden eyes trailed to Ethiriel finally, admiring her beautiful outfit. "The honor is all mine. You look lovely today."
That slip nearly gave Lazarus a heart attack as well, as his eyes still stared worriedly at Kyou. He looked more relieved when they were on more solid ground though as he followed the man closely, ready to catch him if he loses his balance.
Lazarus waved mostly at Henry as they approached. "It's great to see you again, lively and well." He beamed. "So what do you think we should do? We could check out the green house, I think they're having some sort of Wicked Plant exhibition in one of the rooms. Or we could just take a leisure stroll through the park. It is quite a nice day out." The Raevan suggested, feeling compelled to since he was the one who arranged the meeting.

Henry made notice of Kyou’s sudden slip and attempted to jump closer, to help him, but with the doctor’s dismissal of Laz and Ethiriel in his own hand, the nurse merely tossed a hand out closer. Once the good doctor was settled, he closed the space between them with another single step.
”Why, thank you. I would like to pay you a compliment as well, so may I say you sound wonderful?” Ethiriel offered, offering her free hand to both Laz and Kyou – whomever would take it first. She did notice how neither paid Henry any comments for his outfit and, unfortunately, it made her feel nervous. How had the nurse dressed her? Well, in retrospect it wasn’t important; not to mention it meant that the nurse wanted to make her look nice. She just wished that if he were to put forth effort into her outfit, why not dress up a little, himself?
It wasn’t like she knew what fashion was about, anyway. It wasn’t really important.
Bringing his hand up to his chin, Henry gently scratched at his soulpatch in thought. ”Well, I’m down for just about anything. However… Ethiriel likes to touch and smell the plants, so if they’re “wicked” like you say, I’m afraid that it might not be good for her… unless you mean wicked in the sense of like… ‘awesome.’” At the last part, Henry laughed at himself.
Again, Ethiriel bowed her head. ”I would be pleased to do whatever you would like, Dr. Kyou,” she said. He was the one recovering and she didn’t want to over exert the man.
”Ah… yeah, let’s do what Dr. Kyou wants to do!”

"Ethiriel likes to touch and smell the plants, so if they’re “wicked” like you say, I’m afraid that it might not be good for her…"
Oh, of course, how could he have forgotten about that?! Lazarus mentally slapped himself. It is a shame that Ethiriel couldn't see the look of embarrassment on the Raevan's face, he was blushing slightly and his expression was that of horror. "I-I'm sorry." Lazarus stuttered as he apologized. "I... I wasn't thinking things through. The 'wicked' plants exhibition, as far as I know, are of dangerous plants." He was quite sure that most of them would be an irritant to the skin. Some might even be deadly.
Seeing how flustered Lazarus is, Kyou couldn't help but chuckled softly. Perhaps it is best if he chimed in to help. He was glad that both Henry and Ethiriel had instead diverted their attention to himself.
"Hmm..." He tried to recall the layout of the park, as he had taken a glance from a sign on their way here. "There's a rose garden down that way I think." Propping his weight on his right crutch, he pointed his left crutch in the direction of a wide path neatly lined with tall trees. A woman is seen walking down the path with a large golden retriever. It seemed like the park is great for dog walking, as Kyou had seen quite a few already.
"It's not too far I think, shall we go?" He smiled at Henry, Ethiriel, then at Lazarus, who seemed to be a little less flustered now, as he began to hobble forwards in his crutches. He know he'll be the slowest of the group, so he should start first.

"It's okay!" Henry said with a laugh, closing the little distance between them to gently pat at the Valsaros' shoulder. His hand rested for just a moment before giving a light squeeze, then another pat before pulling away entirely. "It was just a lucky guess on my part."
"That sounds lovely," said Ethiriel, giving another bow of her head to Kyou. She had always quite loved roses; they had such a wonderful aroma and their petals were so soft -- even their thorns were interesting if handled right. Smiling, she pulled her hand away to rest lightly on Henry's upper arm. "To be honest, your comfort is the foremost thought on my mind, Sir Kyou. Please, do not wear yourself thin on our account."
Henry's expression softened at the comment and he momentarily returned his gaze to Ethiriel. She always cared so much about others, even when she hardly knew them. It was admirable to say the least -- he hadn't taught her any of this, despite his own helpful disposition, and part of him wondered how Leo had raised her, if he had been so inclined to give her up.
No, that wasn't important.
For now, the nurse's smile returned at full force, beaming at Kyou. "Like the little lady says, you've gotta be careful."

"Oh don't worry about me." Kyou chuckled as he hobbled forwards at his own pace. "I've been in these crutches for a whole month, I'm getting used to it." He had slowly relied more on his legs now than leaning on his arms entirely, like how he was doing when he first got the crutches. That was a killer on his arms on the first week. His legs weren't strong enough on their own yet, so he still needed to rely on his arm's strength quite a bit, but not too much. Using the crutches is a matter of delicate balance.
"I'll let you know when I'm tired, don't worry." He laughed, so far not feeling breathless yet so he can still go on for a bit.
Lazarus followed close behind Kyou as he walked, on the ready to help if Kyou loses his balance. Although he is used to the crutches now, he could still lose his balance sometimes if the crutches got caught on something.
Red eyes watched the golden retriever as the owner jogged pass them. "That's a nice dog. Do you have a dog?" Lazarus asked Henry and Eth, trying to strike a conversation between them.

"If you are sure," Ethiriel responded, gently patting Henry's arm to signal she was ready to go. The Frei could hear the dogs and people playing in the park and her smile softened, thinking over her own. They hadn't brought him along this time around; even though he was extremely well behaved, with Kyou on crutches the two of them were worried that he might trip the man.
Speaking of which...
Ethiriel gave a small nod, turning toward Laz as they spoke. "Indeed; a seeing-eye-dog named Nedhudir. He is a Collie."
Henry continued, "We got him not too long ago for Eth. I believe he's around three years old, so still pretty young."
"Have you a dog, Sir Kyou?" Ethiriel asked, motioning for Henry to switch arms so that she may be closer to the other guardian and Raevan pair. The nurse obliged easily, and the Frei was now within reach of the other two.

"Ned-hoo-deer?" Lazarus repeated the name slowly, trying to pronounce it. It's a very strange name, not one commonly given to a pet, or anyone for that matter. "That is an odd name." He wondered aloud.
"Collies are gorgeous though. I remember watching this movie... I think it was called 'Lassie'. It's an older 90s movie, it was very good!" He remembered the movie fondly. However, he suddenly realized the problem here, that Ethiriel is blind. His expression turned into a somewhat embarrassed one as he tried to change the subject. "We don't have a dog though, we don't have any pets at the Lab." Kyou's toad in a jar certainly doesn't count.
Come to think of it, why don't they have a pet at the Lab? There is definitely enough space.
Kyou smiled at the conversation topic. "No, we don't have a pet." He reiterated. "I suppose I had always consider myself... not a very good caretaker." He admitted, gold eyes turned to look at Lazarus for a moment. The Raevan's early years were evidence of his failures as a guardian. He had always been too busy with his work that his charge get constantly ignored. And he had to pay for that when Lazarus blew up the Lab.
However, he is pleased that Lazarus had turned into a fine young man, despite his social awkwardness.
"Maybe we could keep a cat, I think cats are easier to maintain, and doesn't require as much care as a dog." He suggested with a pleasant smile.

"Perhaps a biproduct of too much Lord of the Rings, courtesy of Henry's brother," Ethiriel said, poking fun at her own choice in naming. She gave a soft chuckle as she offered her arm for the Valsaros to take. The Frei smiled as Laz spoke of the movie -- the fact that she couldn't see didn't matter much when it came to movies; she could still listen and even then, Henry was kind enough to explain to her what was happening in the lulls in conversation. "What a shame. However, I need Nedhudir so there is a difference."
"A cat sounds like a wonderful idea!" Henry exclaimed, letting go of Ethiriel's arm once she was comfortably in the other Raevan's grasp. Even after all this time, the Frei preferred to hang off of her own kind, though she wasn't necessarily adverse to humans at all -- it was just a comfort thing, and she was here specifically to see these two as it was.
"Sometimes it's hard, I've come to learn, but I think you're downgrading yourself. Laz here turned out great, so I think you did a good job."
"Indeed. Lazarus turned out wonderfully." Ethiriel said, raising her free arm to gently pat his arm. "You should not speak so down on yourself."
Not that she had the right to say that.

Kyou had to chuckle from their compliments. "Thank you very much, but I think Lazarus himself deserves it more. He had always been very independent, very good at taking care of himself." He will give credit where credit is due. "He even sometimes take care of me." The man laughed. Sure right now he does need the help, but he remembered that even before his hair turned white, Lazarus used to run errands for him and even make his coffee and food when he was too involved in his experiments.
"Yeah, he's a terrible caretaker." Lazarus chimed in half jokingly, followed by a chuckle himself. "But I still care for him all the same." They exchanged a knowing glance as Lazarus patted Ethiriel's hand that was patting him.
"I would love to meet Nedhudir some time." The Valsaros decided that a change of subject was in order, less things get too sappy. "I do like big dogs. I think they are such majestic creatures."
By this time they were already halfway to the rose garden, as a sign pointing to their destination approached them. However, Kyou had started to pant lightly too from the exertion. He had fallen a little behind the group, and is starting to have a little difficulty trying to continue on. "I think, I need to... rest a bit." He said in between breaths and started hobbling towards a bench nearby. "I just need to catch my breath a little. My stamina is not how it used to be." He chuckled sheepishly as he sat down.

The pat to Ethiriel's hand was met with a gentle smile and a nod of her head. "The more important thing is that the two of you have each other. You take turns caring for one another when you need it most."
Henry had begun to notice Kyou dragging slightly and frowned, peeking back behind the two Raevans. Both he and Ethiriel nodded as the doctor explained -- Henry moved along with the man with his hand planted between Kyou's shoulder blades to make sure he made it to the bench okay. "Yeah, yeah; it's no problem. We're here to see you, not the roses."
"Rest as long as you need," Ethiriel said, knitting her brows lightly above her nose.
Once Kyou was seated and comfortable (at least, as much as you could be on a bench), Henry sat beside him and kept his hand rested on the man's back, rubbing gently in circles. It was hard to get out of nurse mode when you were this puppy of a man, and he was too eager to help those in need.
Ethiriel remained with Lazarus, staring squarely at the bracelet around Henry's visible wrist. "Hopefully it is not rude of me to change topics, but I am sure Nedhudir would love to meet you as well, Lazarus," she said, making sure the Valsaros' musings earlier hadn't been missed. "He behaves very well, but I suppose that is what happens when you're trained from a puppy."
"Yeah! We'd be honored to have you two visit one of these days. Ethiriel can show off her sun room! She takes great care of her plants!"
The Frei chuckled. "You flatter me, Henry."

Kyou smiled softly as he sat and rest on the bench, with Henry's hand rubbing his back in gentle circles. That's right, he vaguely remember that Henry's occupation is a nurse. The warmth was very comforting as he shuts his eyes and sighed. He chuckled softly to himself, he felt truly old at this moment, enjoying something like this like an old man. It is actually... fitting for his actual age, despite how he looked on the outside. Perhaps it was time for him to 'grow up'.
"Thank you for your patience. I just need a few minutes." The white haired man sighed deeply as he slipped his arms out of the crutches, setting them aside. "The crutches is a killer to my arms." He laughed softly as he rolled his shoulders, making soft popping noises.
"Dogs that behave well are the best." Lazarus replied to Ethiriel's comment. "I nearly got bitten by some dogs once when I was still a Sigel." He recalled that dark night at the market near the Lab. "Good thing I still had wings back then, and flew off." He chuckled at the memory, at the expression of the disappointed dogs whimpering as he took off into the air.
But of course, he can't fly now...
The idea of visiting Ethiriel's and Henry's home sounds interesting though. "Oh you're a green thumb eh? Somehow that wasn't surprising for me." He chuckled as he elbows Ethiriel playfully.
"What kind of plants do you have Ethiriel?" Kyou asked, smiling at the Frei. "I would like to see it one day, when I am better perhaps."

"You're not the first to complain about them, I assure you," Henry chuckled. He didn't remove his hand from Kyou, even as the man visibly rested, with his other planted squarely on his knee. "Take as long as you need."
Nodding in agreement, Ethiriel continued, "Nedhudir would never bite, I assure you. I am sure he would greet you in a friendly enough manner, compared to those other dogs. I am sorry you had to deal with such a thing."
The Frei knew nothing of Laz's missing wings.
"You could say that," she said with a small blush, modesty getting the best of her. However, she smiled and brushed a few strands of hair out of her face. "I mostly tend to flowers because they carry a scent of their own. I especially love getting new flowers that I've never "seen" before; they're my favorite."
Henry smiled, glancing at Ethiriel, still linked to Laz's arm, a few feet away. "There are a couple of vines that we keep in the sunroom too, but I generally take care of those for like, trimming and stuff."
To Kyou's last statement, both Henry and Ethiriel nodded. "I would love for you to see it, Sir Kyou. Laz and yourself are always invited into our home; aren't they, Henry?"
"Indeed you are," the nurse agreed.

Having popped his shoulders, he slouched his back and leaned into the bench, letting his body relax and rest for a bit.
"Your sunroom must smell wonderful." Kyou smiled dreamily as she described it, imagining it filled with blooming flowers that gave off so many wonderful scents in the room. It sounded very peaceful already, and he bet looks amazing! "Do you have jasmines in your sunroom? Those are my favorite scented flowers."
"Yeah." Lazarus chimed in. "He has a few jasmine scented things at home too. Like aromatherapy oils, shampoos and soaps." He chuckled softly.
"Hush." Feeling like he was being made fun of, Kyou shushed the Raevan. "I buy lavender scented things too, among others. I like variety sometimes!"
Suddenly he got an idea. "All this talk of visiting your house. Why don't we visit after we visited the rose garden?" Kyou suggested as he turns to Henry, asking for permission. Having rested for a bit, he felt like he would be energized enough to go over after the walk. Plus it shouldn't be too far away in Henry's car. He and Lazarus took a cab over, they could take a cab back if they needed to. "I know it is kind of sudden, but it would be very nice."
"Are you sure?" Lazarus's brows knitted slightly into a frown. He worries for Kyou's stamina, even if he had been improving in his progress lately. However, if the man thinks he is fine, just maybe... "It would be very nice, I must admit." Red eyes turn up to look at Ethiriel with a soft smile. "I'll get to meet Nedhudir sooner."
