Finalized room plot

After almost a century of people refusing to acknowledge the existence of global warming, its effects started to speed up, and it could no longer be denied. Despite this, the corporations that controlled the countries around the world refused to change their practices. However, it was not long before catastrophic droughts plagued much of the world, soon followed by extreme weather. Finally massive floods covered nearly all the land, as the the ice caps melted to nothing. Countries and their governments collapsed across the planet, and helpless land animals faced mass extinction. Many feared it would be the end of all life.

Although the world was faced with what appeared to be an apocalypse, they had the advantage of technology. Soon the extreme weather began to settle down, and floating cities sprang up where land had once been. The people that survived quickly adapted to this new world, and even thrived. Although people's diets now consisted of mainly marine based foods, nearly all ships had their own gardens to grow produce. The most popular alcoholic beverage in this new world is made from seaweed and called Nökkenvann, or nok for short.

Even before the new floating cities and the governments that accompanied them had begun to form, people took to ships and a grand new era of piracy began. Leaders of these new countries struggle to protect their citizens from the far stronger and much more well organized pirates that sail the endless sea. The pirates are currently lead by the ruthless Pirate Queen Hildr. The only force that can pose a real threat to the pirates is the goddess of the sea, Tiamat. In an attempt to undermine Tiamat, Queen Hildr was able to seize one of the goddess' treasure chests. In retaliation, Tiamat created a storm and rained her fury on the ship, causing such damage that Queen Hildr had to head to a large floating port city for repairs.

Day 1: The room opens with the Queen docking her ship at port for repairs. Tiamat had created a storm that caused damage to the ship, because the Queen and her crew found one of her treasure chests, and Tiamat was not happy about it. Everyone gathers at the pub or possibly other location at the port, and Gaians start arriving. Tiamat, in human form, also arrives and blends into the crowd. At some point the traveler appears and starts trying to convince people to help them find crystals. As we are pirates and do not share, this does not go over well. After a bit, Tiamat decides to eject the traveler from our world via portal. Near the end of the day, Poyudi's character takes notice of the treasure chest, and begins to show some interest in it.

Day 2: The Queen and her crew are still stranded at the port while waiting for the repairs to be completed. Poyudi beings to ask many questions about the chest, maybe even offers to help the Queen find a way to open it. Meanwhile, Tiamat is trying to figure out the best way to retrieve her chest without being noticed. For a while we will just have drunken pirate shenanigans, throwing in some of the games to entertain guests. The drinking concludes when Poyudi instigates a pub brawl and steals the chest in the confusion. Obviously, the Queen is very angry, and Tiamat offers to help her find Poyudi and the chest, all the while planning to take it for herself.

Day 3: Tiamat, the Queen, and any crew, look for Poyudi, enlisting the help of guests to aid them. Poyudi finds a portal that had not been closed, and escapes into the ice age world. Tiamat breaks away from the group and finds the open portal and follows Poyudi into the other world for a crossover. See spoiler for detailed crossover information:

Quote:
Crossover Bit - Ahh, My Goddess!
A thief has stolen an artifact from the Pirate queen in the Global Warming world. They have escaped into Haven through a portal, and Tiamat has decided to follow. There is a confrontation with the goddess, as the people are distrustful of someone just appearing out of nowhere, but when it is discovered she is trying to track down a thief, the group agrees to help. As they search, it is discovered the thief has gone out of the safety of Haven and into the freezing wastes outside. The group, better equipped to deal with the frigid temperatures, venture out to stop the thief, and are able to recover the stolen artifact. As a result, Tiamat presents a gift to the people of Haven that helps them to better weather the current climate (be it an object that provides warmth for the caves, a spell to possibly make the area around Haven able to provide for the community, or whatever). The group is then able to breathe easier, as they see the possibility of surviving what has happened to their world.

During the crossover, we will continue to search for Poyudi, and possibly throw in more games and contests. In the end Tiamat gets her chest back somehow. The Queen is in a huff at not getting the treasure back, as Tiamat makes an excuse about having lost it between worlds. Poyudi gets the Queen to forgive him by offering her some other treasure, and everyone drinks and is merry as the ball ends.

Main ball plot in spoiler

Final Plot - Draft

The conditions were perfect for the experiment. Every variable had been accounted for; every ritual, prepared. Quynn - self proclaimed royal scientist of the Viatori, presumably the people of his homeworld - had been practically humming with excitement. I’ll admit, the enthusiasm was contagious.

Raising my head as I finished gathering the required energy for my spells, my eyes were drawn to the graceful individual sweeping ethereally across the testing grounds, a living testament to my theories. This interdimensional interloper claimed to have done what had eluded me for many years now. They had come to me with outlandish promises of whole new worlds - universes even - and try as I might to remain incredulous, here we were, the experiment all but ready to begin.

It hadn’t taken long for the Viatori traveller to make waves in Gaia. Word spread quickly about the bronze-skinned stranger with eyes as black as void and a personality of equal gravitational pull, who claimed to have come from worlds unknown, trying to reach places unseen. They had charmed their way into many a social circle with exotic tales of their travels, and trinkets and baubles the likes of which would never be seen again in this world… all just to meet with me, a mage specialising in teleportation magic. Though they spoke of wanting to collaborate for the greater good of Gaia… even now, I couldn’t help but feel they were hiding something. I’d seen the look in their eyes, fleeting but real. Desperation.

The other mages in my field were wary of this newcomer, for indeed this was not the first time we had encountered strange and unknown entities claiming to herald from places unknown. Sadly as of yet, the claimants had been nothing more than snake oil merchants with tales of whimsy… but if true, this traveller could single-handedly alter the lives of Gaians everywhere. Needless to say, we were cautiously optimistic.

They requested little in return for sharing their knowledge. Merely some assistance in opening one of their so called ‘rifts’. Naturally I, and a few others, leapt at the chance to be the ones to help create history. Had we known what kind of history we were about to make however, perhaps we may not have been so eager.

Then again, perhaps we would have. The thirst for knowledge is its own kind of desperation.

We thought we had planned everything down to a meticulous degree... but there was one variable we had never accounted for. Ley lines. The magic channels crisscrossing the globe that modern spell-casting had all but ignored in the way one might consider a mountain relevant to marine biology.

We began our efforts to open a rift, unaware that our chosen location was at the nexus of multiple ley lines. We had not anticipated what followed. One rift turned into many, then multiplied twofold, and twofold again… All over the globe, rifts opened up along the ley lines in quick succession. Everything had gone terribly, terribly wrong. The rifts had grown too large in size and number to contain, and I could only watch in horror as Gaians were sucked into the rifts, perhaps never to be seen again. However I could only watch for so long before I too felt the pull of the void.

I remember the suffocating panic. I remember trying to run, clinging to whatever I could. I remember little else.

---

I awoke… here. Wherever that is.

It is bittersweet, to see first hand the results of years of academic theories come to life, only to be sucked into another dimension where those theories mean nothing.

Only now am I beginning to fully piece together what has occurred, how many Gaians we may have lost to worlds I may never know.

I can only hope that their journey has been as safe as mine.

I can only hope that, wherever they are, they find their way back home.

I know not where the traveller is now, nor do I particularly care. For now, I must focus my efforts on returning home - if I can at all.

I suspect I must hurry, I am plagued by a deep sense of unease about this world…

Things Eren and I have talked about so far:

-Being pirates
-Being co-captains, but only because we are equally matched and cannot defeat the other

I will just put this here, it is the overview I sent when asking for the room theme.

Global Warming: the glaciers have melted, and now roughly 90% of the Earth is covered in water. Everyone here has become accustomed to living this way, with our room being a pirate ship sailing the ocean world. In the end if we are asked to fix our planet, the people decide that they like things better the way they are now.

Also which crossovers would work since no one else is in a watery world? I guess we need to see the main plot before we can find ways to drag people into our world or vice versa.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 08, 2016 5:45 pm

Should the room be mainly set at a port so guests could easily come and go, as well as there being access to a more diverse group of people?

I welcome any plot input anyone might have in mind c:

With your global warming description I would imagine the only land left would be mountain tops that became islands due to the flood. (Much like Zelda the Wind Waker. If you've ever played that.) Which could lead to some interesting locations beyond a ship. And since you want multiple pirate captions.

How about a Pirate's nest type port? The "Queen" of pirates could be the one who actually owns/runs the island. And other pirate captains could be visiting for some reason. Perhaps a yearly party of their own? Where Pirate captains come together to celebrate the event that allowed them this life to begin with? Honestly, a bunch of Drunk pirates does sound like a fun time. xD Lol~

Some of you may have seen already, but the ball has a main plot now! I added it in a spoiler to the first post of this thread. Now it seems as if it is time to start getting down to business on ours. We have a couple rough ideas so far.

1. Some sort of storm (possibly caused by Tiamat) that causes damage to our ship and we have to go to port for repairs. This option would allow for a large variety of characters.

2. There is a pirate gathering on a mountain top (one of the few pieces of land still visible). Crew from all over our world will be there to eat, drink, and be merry, as per Poyudi's suggestion.

Some things to consider are that Gaians need to be able to wander in and for it not to be too weird. While we more or less welcome Gaians, we do not welcome the traveler from the main plot. The sea god/ess Tiamat will eventually eject the traveler from our world because their presence is unwelcome. After we sort out the basics, we can get more in-depth. Please post your ideas or comments!

I know it has only been one day since I quoted everyone about the plot, but it is due in a little over two weeks (May 1st). With that in mind, I'm going to just choose port and get that over with. With a port not everyone that visits needs to be a pirate, and everyone can still get drunk at the pub or whatever.

Now we need to think of stuff to do. We are the second room the traveler visits, but I'm not sure which day that is, hopefully Brokuto will be able to let us know we are visited on day one. We all more or less know the type of character we want to play; are there any particular scenarios you have in mind for your character that you would like included in the plot? If you guys have fun with your characters, it will also be fun for the guests.

Things we know will happen:
+Day 1, ship gets busted and gets taken to port for repairs
+Day 1, traveler visits us and bugs us for crystals, but as we don't share shiny things, we do not like the traveler. Tiamat gets tired of the traveler, and opens a portal so they go away

Possible ideas:
+Something involving treasure or treasure maps
+Drunken fights
+Tiamat causing some sort of bad weather or trouble making of some sort?

I also want you guys to think about a game you would like to host. Even if it is small, I want everyone to host something. I would like one game to be paw specific please, with paw prizes.

Game Ideas:
+Drinking contest w/ dice rolls
+Tattoo drawing contest
+Write a pirate adventure story
+Draw the crew, because we like art of us, right?
+Draw the ideal pirate pet (this could be a paw contest)

Please respond ASAP, thank you for reading everything (hopefully)!

This is kind of off the top of my head. But how about...

Day 1

gaia_crown The Pirate Queen has a small chest that cannot be opened without a key.
gaia_crown The traveler appears asking for crystals.
gaia_crown The Pirate Queen Tricks the traveler into stealing a key from Tiamat.
gaia_crown This angers Tiamat who opens a portal to banish the traveler from the seas.
gaia_crown The Pirate Queen tries to retrieve the Key from the traveler before this happens but fails. And assumes the Key is lost.
gaia_crown My character (Who was possibly helping the traveler during the above). Had actually stolen the Key from the traveler and gets him banished before he could tell anyone.

Day 2

gaia_crown Goofy s**t happens. emotion_awesome

Day 3

gaia_crown By the end of Day 3 I'll manage to somehow get the Pirate Queen Distracted. (Perhaps by revealing to Tiamat that it was her plan all along?)
gaia_crown The Plot ends upon the Pirate Queen discovering that her chest is missing, and upon seeing my calling cards realizes what happened. However its too late as I'd already be gone.

The idea would be that there is some great treasure in the chest that Tiamat doesn't want opened but the Pirate Queen does. We'd never say for sure whats in it, or what I end up doing with the chest and key.

Again, this is only off the top of my head. xD It took me all of 5 minutes of thought. What do you think?

I have to go out of state in a couple days and will not be back until the 24th or 25th. That leaves not many days until the plot is due. I will try to check in nights, but I will be busy and cannot promise anything.

Meanwhile I would really appreciate you guys giving your feed back and helping develop the plot to be ready to turn in May 1st. Also, thank you very much Poyudi for your help so far!

Some of us discussed the plot a bit in Skype, but I cannot remember everything said. Here is a mini run down of what I think I remember. I'm also just going to straight up fill in the blanks with whatever I think makes sense, so be sure to correct me if you want something different.

Day 1: Tiamat somehow causes damage to my ship, possibly because I was able to find one of her treasure chests that contains something important to her. I am forced to dock at the port for repairs with my crew (is anyone my crew?). Everyone goes to the pub or where they want at port, and Gaians start arriving. Tiamat is also around, but secretly in the form of a human. The traveler appears and starts trying to convince people to help them find crystals. We are pirates and do not share, so this does not go over well. After a bit, Tiamat decides to eject the traveler from our world via portal. Maybe Poyudi's character notices the treasure chest and starts to take an interest.

Day 2: I am still waiting at port for repairs. Poyudi asks many questions about the chest, maybe even offers to help me find a way to open it. Tiamat is trying to figure out the best way to retrieve her chest without being noticed. For a while we can just have drunken pirate shenanigans [it would be nice to throw in some games here, maybe the dice drinking game]. The drinking concludes when Poyudi instigates a pub fight and steals the chest in the confusion. Obviously I am very angry, and Tiamat offers to help me find Poyudi and the chest, all the while planning to take it for herself.

Day 3: I am unsure of what to do this day. Ideally Tiamat and I search for Poyudi, maybe causes a storm or something. Somehow Tiamat ends up getting her treasure chest back (while using thought text to let the guests know that it was her diary in there). I'm not sure how much, if at all, our room will be involved in the main plot conclusion. If so, we do whatever is needed of us.

Please think about games you would like to do! Here are the games I listed last time, but you are not restricted to only these games:

Game Ideas:
-Drinking contest w/ dice rolls
-Tattoo drawing contest
-Write a pirate adventure story
-Draw the crew, because we like art of us, right? (I'm going to do this one)
-Write a pirate drinking song (I'm also going to do this one)
-Draw the ideal pirate pet (this could be a paw contest)

Also if you have any suggestions or ideas about which room to do a crossover with, I would be happy to hear them.

Sorry that I will be gone for a bit, but it is beyond my control. Thank you and please let me know your thoughts and ideas!

For the crossover, maybe Poyudi somehow escapes with the chest into another world, and that is how Tiamat is able to follow alone and retrieve the chest?

Just a reminder I am going out of state in several hours, and will be pretty busy until around the 24th. I would super appreciate everyone giving some feedback about the rough plot I posted a couple days ago. The deadline on May 1st is quickly approaching, and I would like everyone at the very least mention something they have in mind for their character plot wise.

I really would like our plot to be a group effort, even if only to say what I wrote is fine. Thank you and see you guys in a few days!

Hello everyone, I am back. It is currently, lets say the 27th, and the plot is due May 1st. Time is nearly out.

I am currently in talks with Dia in the Astroid Ice Age room for a crossover on day 3. Here is a slightly updated version of what I have so far for the plot:

Day 1: Tiamat somehow causes damage to my ship, possibly because I was able to find one of her treasure chests that contains something important to her, and she is very angry.

The drinking concludes when Poyudi instigates a pub brawl and steals the chest in the confusion. Obviously I am very angry, and Tiamat offers to help me find Poyudi and the chest, all the while planning to take it for herself.

Day 3: Tiamat and I look for Poyudi, enlisting the help of guests to aid us. Poyudi finds a portal that had not been closed, and escapes into another world (possibly the ice world if things go well). Tiamat breaks away from the group and finds the open portal and follows Poyudi into the other world for a crossover. Crossover stuff will take place, but those details still need to be sorted out. In the end Tiamat gets her chest back somehow, and in thought text informs the guests it was her diary or something equally silly. The queen is in a huff at not getting it back, as Tiamat makes an excuse about having lost it between worlds or something. Poyudi somehow gets the queen to forgive him, and everyone drinks and is merry as the ball ends.

That is what I have so far, and as time is running out, please get in any suggestions before the 1st. We cannot start from square one though, so no suggesting starting over. I also created a new thread in our forum for games and contests, please visit it and begin to think about what you would like to do for the ball. Thanks!

Hello again everyone, it is April 30th, and the plot is due tomorrow, May 1st. This is the second to last time I will quote you guys about the plot before it is due. Dia will be forwarding me the information needed for the crossover sometime later today, so if no one gives any further suggestions, I will quote one last time with the plot as it will be turned in.

As a refresher, the plot I posted a couple days ago is in spoilers below.

Day 1: Tiamat somehow causes damage to my ship, possibly because I was able to find one of her treasure chests that contains something important to her, and she is very angry. I am forced to dock at the port for repairs with my crew (is anyone my crew?). Everyone goes to the pub or where they want at port, and Gaians start arriving. For a while we can just have drunken pirate shenanigans [it would be nice to throw in some games here, maybe the dice drinking game].

Now is the time to share thoughts and offer suggestions, as time is really just about out. Again, please check out the game thread and start thinking about the game or contest you would like to run. Thanks!
