She had done it. The thing she had been trying to do for far too long…she had gotten her first starseed…so naturally the only thing left to do was cook a lovely dinner and invite Gently over. Clearly that was the only thing that she could do…and honestly, it was what she wanted to do.
It had taken a few hours to get her home cleaned to perfection and the dinner cooked and the table set and…and now it was just her guest that she was waiting on.
Karone was fussing with her hair, glancing at the clock every few seconds. She had told Gently to be there at six and I was nearly time…just five minutes till. Had she fixed everything? Did she look okay? Her eyes flicked up to the clock again and she finally just decided to wait at the door…going so far as to open it and look outside.
She just…wanted everything to go well…

Gently found herself actually worrying about what to wear and what to do with her hair before she went to meet with Karone. Sure, she'd been over the other's house a few different times now, under different situations, but this was... well. Different.
This seemed, by all accounts, like a date. And that was... okay.
Sure, Gently was not exactly a creature most people would consider... date-able. In fact, she was not too sure she felt like enough of a real person to be... well... of that kind of interest to anyone. Surface things, reckless flirting and pointless games... that was all different, and hardly counted.
But Karone was surprisingly different. Painite started this whole relationship based solely on wanting to keep Cavansite as a pet, as a minion. Sure, she had bonded with the other immediately, but it had been through grabbing her starseed and sharing her Chaos with her.
Who would have guessed how well they would get on? How... cute Karone was?
Taking a breath, Painite rang the doorbell carefully, holding on to the few flowers she had picked up in an effort to be sweet, but not too forward. Oh god, when was the last time she worried about crap like this?

Oh thank god.
The doorbell rang just as Karone was opening up the door to look outside and a huge, stupid grin spread across her face. “You’re here!”
No s**t she was here…but…she couldn’t deny that it was making her unreasonably happy. Gently was just so cool, so focused. So…terribly attractive. For a long moment, Karone just looked at her and grinned. “You look amazing, Gent, seriously…um…um…come in! Come in! Dinner should be ready in about ten minutes…if you want a drink or anything I can make you something…”
Lilac eyes fell to the flowers in Gently’s hand. She swallowed, trying her hardest to battle the feelings that were erupting inside of her heart. “You uh…you brought flowers?”
Did she want this to be a date too? Because, well s**t. That would be the icing on the cake.
…just not on the cake she had made…that one already had enough icing.

Gently smiled warmly and offered Karone the flowers almost awkwardly. When was the last damn time she was awkward?! Painite was nothing but confidence, after all, and she knew who she was. Or at the very least, she knew what she wanted to be, and was always working toward that goal. Right now, however, she felt like she was a little out of her depth.
But it was familiar at the same time, and that made it even more scary.
"A drink is always welcome," she said, smiling at the jovial greeting. She got hesitant, gripping the flowers tightly.
"Oh. Yes. These. Uh. Here."
She handed the little bouquet of flowers to the other, blushing a bit as she did so. The unfamiliar heat over her cheeks was strange, but not terrible. Certainly not terrible.
"It smells nice in here. You went all out, hm?" She was a little more subdued than she usually was, if only because now she felt like she was actually on a date and had not really been expecting it. Well, maybe she had, but now that she was in it, it felt very out of place. A fish out of water.
Maybe to break the tension she could suggest powering up and going out to kill a senshi or something. That was something she was much more familiar with.

Karone took the flowers and gave them a nice long sniff, grinning kind of stupidly as she did so. Gently had really brought her flowers! This was totally more than some one sided crush…at least, she was hoping that it was…and…
“Then a drink I’ll get you…and yeah, I did make everything, I just wanted this to be nice…you deserve nice, you know…and it seems like every time we hang out as…you know, just us…you’re two steps away from just snapping into two…so…I wanted to catch you when you weren’t all battered.”
Karone put the flowers on the table in the hall and went back over to Gently, grinning slightly. “So…I did something that I think you’ll really like…and I got something for you. Just for you. Granted it took a few tries…but I did it!”
The woman drew out a small, wrapped box, tied with a bright purple bow. “Ta da! A gift from your favorite minion, just for you.”
She was so excited to see the other’s face when that beautiful starseed inside was reveled…she was still so proud of herself for getting it…even though it didn’t belong to anyone fancy…just that civilian woman…but it was her first one, so it was special. Right?

"I think you might be the only person in existence who believes I deserve anything nice," Gently laughed, though it was not rueful, really. She had earned her reputation the hard way, and was proud of everything that was said of her. Even the less than flattering things.
Most just considered her the scary, crazy person that was not worth getting too close to. And that was just fine. This was a very, very strange turn for her to be taking but, so far, she had no desire to pull away from whatever it was she was walking toward. What Karone thought of her... it was okay if it did not match what everyone else knew and saw.
In fact, the last thing Painite really wanted to be was scary, at least around her new minion. Friend.
At the mention of a present, Gently looked surprised, then blinked at the box she was handed.
"You got me something?" Carefully, she opened the box and her eyes settled on a beautiful crystal shimmering up at her. It was no diamond, nothing like jewelry or a bauble. No, this was something far more precious and meaningful. Gently smiled, looking up at Karone with a proud, adoring look on her face.
"You pulled your first starseed? And this is it... you should keep this, it's a moment you can't get back. I'm so proud! I knew you had talent, I just knew it! You're so amazing."

The woman absolutely glowed at the praise and grinned. “I did pull my first starseed, and I wanted you to have it, I worked so hard, like I said it took me a few tries…and it’s not from a senshi or knight…and I’m sorry for that, but next time. Next time I’ll get you a better one. Honestly it was kind of awful, so many people trying to stop me and stupid little punk senshi thinking that they’re better than me and…it was just so annoying, okay?”
With a happy grin, Karone reached out and pushed the box closer to Gently. “This is for you. I did this for you. I wanted to show you that I can be the best. For you.”
Not for the Negaverse, not for the good of the cause.
Just for her.
Because it was quickly becoming clear that Gently was the most important thing. Causes be damned. She had a woman to impress.

"Oh, my darling minion," Gently smiled lovingly, shaking her head slowly and touching her hand to Karone's face as she took a few steps forward to close the distance between them.
"I am so proud of you."
She took the box carefully, like it was made of glass. The most precious thing she had ever seen. It made no difference to her, at that moment, that it was not the seed of someone powered. Who knows? It could have been, in due time.
The only thing that mattered was that Karone had the ability and the will to do it. An innocent was probably the best start: it meant she was capable of anything at all.

Karone could hardly contain her excitement and leaned in to Gently’s hand, letting her eyes close. “Well, I have to say I’m terribly happy to hear that you’re proud of me, and I just…I’m so glad you saw something in me. I’ve never been happier to do something as I am to do things to you. I just…feel so happy.”
She pulled away a moment later and took hold of her mentors hand, tugging her into the dining room.
It was time for dinner and for whatever else would come from this evening…because…well. Because she was the minion, and she wanted to make Gently happy.
Forever.
