Having finally gotten to where his dad felt he was grown enough to be allowed to roam about on his own, Rhine hadn't wasted a second lingering about, just in case 2D changed his mind. It wasn't as if he was going to wander far, but it was nice to be granted freedom. So far, Rhine had spent all of his time with his dad, or his other dad, or with one them and one or both of his sisters... which was fine and all he knew, but there was bound to be other people to meet.
He bound off through the tall grasses, ears flicking back when he heard his dad's voice, singing that song, his song, a smile plastered on his face.

It wasn't hard for Adonis to sneak away from his fathers or siblings, though what a sister was, or well..the purpose of one still baffled him. What were girls for anyways?
He wrinkled his nose as he bounced along, he just didnt get it. Someone had tried to tell him about a mother and really, to him it sounded like a wishful fairy tale.
Even at his young age, Adonis had little to no interest in girls and simply wrinkled his nose at them. He had two dads, and they were awesome..what was the point of a mom, he shuddered. To him, they were like the wicked witch..something he'd happily avoid.

It didn't take long before he could no longer hear his dad singing, Rhine stopped running and moved at a slower pace. He knew this area pretty well, so it wasn't likely he'd get lost. He set to exploring, picking up the scents of other ulaya right away.
Did another family live around here? It wasn't as if his dad defended a territory, they just wandered a lot, they'd been kicked out of other family's spaces a couple times. Rhine hoped that wouldn't be the case now, he liked to play here.
Pushing through a clump of drying grass he came upon a clearing, not far off a river, there was bound to be someon-- s**t! A bear was fishing in the river, Rhine turned tail and bolted in another direction, so much for a nice safe place to play.

Of course he wasnt paying attention, as the idea of wicked mothers jumped out at him in his thoughts, so when he collided head on into someone else, lets just say...it took him by completely surprise!
"Ouch!" he groaned a bit, flattened out on his rump as he rubbed the side of his head, thankfully the thickest part of him was the only part injured.
He paused silent for a minute, hopefully neither of his dads were paying attention...not that they did too much anyways.

Running smack dab into someone in his panic was inevitable, it brought Rhine to a tumbling halt. Panting he lay there, heart thumping in his chest. He had no idea how far he'd ran, but he hoped it was enough, he wasn't sure he could run anymore, plus he'd hit someone, he knew he should check to see if they were okay.
Pushing to his feet, Rhine swallowed and moved through the grass. "Hey," he hissed, scared to make his voice too loud, even if they were a fair distance from the river and the wild beast here, wherever here was. "Hey, you okay...? s**t, I didn't see you at all."

He rubbed at the knot forming on his forehead before he shook his head and snorted. "Naw, I'm okay...I wasnt paying either, no foul." Adonis shrugged his shoulders as he righted himself and shook out his coat.
"You okay?" He eyed the other kit.

Still panting pretty hard from his run, Rhine nodded once and let out a slower breath, still trying to catch it. "Ok, good."
He stalked forward, keeping low to the ground and peered through the grass the way he'd come, ears down against his head, cocked back to lay flat, as he inched his head higher and higher. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine," he murmured, still whispering. The bear hadn't seen him so of course it hadn't given chase, but he was still pretty worried about it. First time he'd ever seen a bear, he was glad his dad had warned him about them.

Cocking his head to the side, Adonis arched a brow as he watched the other kit.
What was he doing? Standing up, he padded over and peered through the grass. "Are you running from someone?" He looked around. "You in some trouble?" He asked looking to the odd kit.

"Get down!" Rhine put his paw on the other's head and pushed him flat. "Not someone, something!" he hissed.
Except there wasn't anything there, no matter which way he looked no scary wild beasts lurked. The 'bear' hadn't actually been a bear at all, but Rhine didn't know that.

His ears twitched around the other kits paw, as he strained to look around, his brow arched further as he looked up at the other kit.
"Well, its gone now..and dont worry, it wont get you." Adonis said with a snort as he puffed out his chest. "It heard me coming and knew better than to stick around." He said with a cheesy grin.

Rhine pulled his paw away quickly when he felt the ears twitching and took a step back. Calming down slightly, since it seemed the coast was clear... not that that could be the reason.
"Yeah, right, I didn't even hear you coming." he gave a laugh, "You're even smaller than I am, that bear would have eaten you in one bite."

"One bite and that would have been story over!" Adonis puffed out his chest and lifted his chin. "I woulda fought my way out of that beasts belly I tell you." He smiled. "Never fear, I will keep you safe." He really got on much better with other boy kits than he did with girls, they still baffled the hell out of him honestly.
What were girls for!?

Rhine stared at the little boaster, at first he kept the skeptical bend of his brows but soon enough it lifted and he offered the other kitten a little smile in return. That sort of bravery wasn't something he was used to, but he definitely liked it.
"Okay..." He let out another slow breath, attempting to release the anxious feeling that lingered in his chest along with it. If this kid thought he could take on a bear, he was definitely someone Rhine wanted to know. "Imma hold you to that cause, like, fff- I am not that brave."

Adonis glanced at the other kit and grinned, his ego was growing by the second. "Stick with me, I'll always protect you from scary things." His head gave a quick short bob as he glanced around, making sure something wasnt sneaking up on them at the moment, he didnt want to have to prove his might already.
But he would if he had too!

Rhine's maw faintly echoed the grin his new protector sported. His heart was calming and though some fear and anxiety still bubbled in his belly, he was feeling a lot better about exploring now, even with the threat of bear looming. His dad had also told him sometimes similar, but his dad had also been the one to instill a lot of the fears that made him so jumpy and restless to begin with!
"Deal. Oh. I'm Rhinestone Eyes, but uh, just Rhine is fine... dad never really calls me by my full name, unless he's singing."
