The gears had been set into motion. While Razvan began to spend his free time restocking, reorganizing, and redecorating his workshop, Vova had gone out to spread the word. He needed students, helpers, apprentices...honestly, the entire theatre needed more paws pattering about in general. Things had felt so dreadfully quiet for the past month or so that it made Razvan's skin crawl, and he was itching to do something about it. With Gabriel and Vova's help, the call for new blood in the theatre would be shouted throughout the clan.
But, Raz had undergone a few changes of his own, in preparation. Usually, his work space ended up in a terrible clutter as he completed various projects. He had his own system, but after being shamed one too many times by Vova, he'd seen fit to clean up his act. The two long stone slabs he used as work tables had been cleared away, before being outfitted with chiseled in pockets that were perfect for housing tools when they weren't in use. Everything one needed to carve or decorate, from knife to brush, had its own place now, rather than the haphazard wooden boxes he'd kept everything in previously.
What couldn't be kept at the tables went into his supplies corridor, which had been equally messy, but was now a shining example of a well organized inventory, mostly thanks to Itzal. Cubbies and shelves built into the wall held every type of material one might need to make toys or puppets. There was cloth in all sorts of colors and textures, thread, needles, string, and wire. There was a special sealed storage that held clay for sculpting, and one corner was dedicated solely to variously sized blocks of wood used to carve everything from small figurines to entire puppets.
The great uncluttering took some getting used to, but it was for a good cause - with everything in order, Razvan was undeniably ready to bring new helpers into his workshop. That's what he tried to tell himself anyway, as he sat at one of the long tables, whittling away as a small block of wood while he watched the door.
It was the first day that the castle was open to the public, and he sorely hoped that he wouldn't be alone for long. With any luck, the obnoxiously bright posters he and Vova had posted up would bring someone along. At that point, he would even be overjoyed to see some cubs wander through.Kami Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in! Please remember to use dark text for this thread, light/bright colored text hurts my eyes. NOTE: I may be slightly busy for Halloween weekend, but will do my absolute best to tag in a timely manner. What was his purpose? He supposed he would find out soon enough when it called to him. He wasn't too keen on finding his place just yet, but he was curious to know what his reason for being woven was. From his understanding there was much that could be done within the tribe as well as outside of it. BUT with their sensitivity to light it made things slightly more difficult in the long run as he would only be able to travel at night, unless he blindfolded himself but he really didn't feel like doing such a thing.
Gaze shifted slightly as he took in the details of the halls and did his best to remember where he had turned, how long it took him to get to a certain point and other such things. It wasn't something he thought about doing, he just did it. He wasn't really sure where he was going in these great halls but he was fairly certain he would figure it all out soon enough.
She had never been inside the castle before, only having looked at it every now and again in passing so she was actually thrilled to be inside of it. Though she seemed to have gotten lost somehow. This wasn't too concerning for her as she believed she had nothing to fear but still... She hoped there wasn't any trap doors or hidden passages she might stumble into on accident.
It would seem she'd not have to worry about being lost for as she was coming around a corner she almost came face to face with Vesperus and let out a small EEEP as he had startled her, her wings flaring out to pull her backwards to avoid collision. He just stared at her silently, almost judgingly. "I'm sorry, I honestly didn't see you." She said looking at him cautiously, gauging his reaction.
He smirked, slowly and let a small chuckle escape his maw. "Clearly." He said simply and continued walking past her towards another hallway. He noted then there were some posters here and there. Hmmm.
She followed him with her head and eyes as he walked past her and continued forward as if it was nothing. She was rather perplexed by this and trailed after him. That was all he was going to say? Just clearly? She shook her head and narrowed her eyes at the Tahtll and then noticed the posters and quickly forgot all about him. "You don't have to be rude you know." She said as she walked by him and turned into one of the rooms and noticed Razban whittling away at a block of wood. "What are you working on?" She asked with a small smile as she looked around the room.
Vesperus shook his head and followed after the pale one and looked around at the different carvings and creations. Hmmm. Curious.

It was an exciting time, Drakiabel observed silently to himself. The castle doors were open and he had deducted that today was as good as any to go explore it. His claws made a click, click sound as he glided across the floor in something of a rushed movement. Half way between actual flight and merely prancing about like a jackalight, Drak held a curious grin on his face. Well, aside from the one his markings naturally made for him that was. His eyes were busy drinking in the decorations and arrangements for his enjoyment. It certainly wasn't drab or deary in here! At the very least not for today! He noted the bright posters along the walls long ago, though he honestly hadn't paid them much mind. They were pretty, he'd give them that! Near-skidding to a halt Drakiabel slowed himself down, the Tahtll uneasily swooshed his tail to either side in hesitation as he observed a large doorframe. Where did this go, he wondered. With his mind already made up he decided to investigate the room, if only to satisfy his curiosity. Poking his colorful head in the Tahtll issued a small gasp of delighted surprise. "Oh! Hello Razvan!" He greeted the familiar b'alam joyfully. "What're you doing here?"

Anyone entering the room would be met by not only the sight of the Toymaker's Assistant sitting at the work table, but his many creations as well. Some hung from the ceiling - creatures of all sorts, segmented fish, snakes, and even small versions of some of the well-known members of the dark tribe gazed down on everyone who chanced to enter. Even more puppets and toys were stored in the corridor opposite of the supplies hallway, each hung with care until they were needed for performance, or to be used as references for further production.
Raz's eyes shimmered with curiosity as he heard footsteps down the hall, looking up for a moment as he paused in his carving to watch the door. With everyone filtering in and out of the castle, he'd been continuously tricked into thinking he had visitors (when really, it was just someone headed to another room), but as Lilija spoke up, he knew it was the real deal. Beaming, he held up the little chunk of wood, gesturing for her to enter.
"Come see for yourself, won't you? You two are the first to come 'round all day!" There was a purr in his voice as he spoke, belying his pleasure in finally having visitors. "My name is Razvan, if you weren't aware. Welcome to the theatre, and my workshop! All of the props and puppets that are to be used in the Tribe's productions are created in this room. If you two are here you must have that...spark of creativity, yes?"
He turned his carving around and blew the excess shavings away to reveal an exquisitely carved bird. Though it was unfinished, the details of the body and one wing had already been added in, feathers lovingly etched to create a handsome effect. As Vesperus peered up at the ceiling, something twitched, shifted, and set the puppets swaying eerily.
"You see, the theatre is in dire need of-- Oh! Drakiabel!" Raz couldn't have been happier to lay eyes on the brightly colored Tahtll. It had been far to long since he'd seen the boy, and he'd always hoped that he would end up at the theatre.
"Come in, come in! We were just about to discuss how badly the theatre needs new blood." He chuckled, and set the bird down, sliding to his feet and stretching his wings for a moment.

After his meeting with Lord Gabriel, Aurel decided it was time to take a look at theater. Perhaps he could bring some toys back for the Orphaniarum from this trip. It would be most helpful if he himself could learn a few things about toy making for the little ones, but with his work at the orphaniarum he wondered if he would be able to become an assistant. Most of his time was spent taking care of the facility as well as the smaller cubs with in.
Upon entering he noticed the two he had seen at the castle with his meeting with Lord Gabriel. Well at least he had some familiar faces. Aurel watched in curiosity as the Toymaker's Assistant's creations. They were quite beautifully made. Aurel listened in silence near the back of the group as Raz spoke to the first three who had arrived before him.
"Mainly my own curiosity." Aurel finally spoke. In reply to Raz. Of course he had come in later then the other three, but he still heard most of the conversation that had been at hand when he first entered the facility. Although he did not want to seem rude, but he did want to feel a bit included into this conversation.

As much as she loved the library she liked to get out and see what else there was within the tribe and these carvings were indeed unique and wonderful. She was glad he was proud of what he did and was eager to show it off. It wasn't much fun when one did something they didn't enjoy. "I'm glad to know we-or at least I is able to bring some conversation to your shop." She said with a smile. She made a note to remember his name and she was sure she'd at least remember him. His markings were quite unique and very striking. "My name is Lilija and it's a pleasure to meet you Razvan." She looked around for a moment.
"Do you work on more than just the props? Do you partake in any of the theatrical events?" She herself hadn't witnessed one yet as she was still somewhat new to the world but she was certain that she'd, in time, find herself experiencing a show at some point or another. "I wouldn't exactly say I have a spark of creativity.... more a spark of curiosity." She said with a wide grin. Her head turned slightly as another made a cheerful response behind her in the doorway and Razvan greeted him by name. Drakiabel, that was a unique name. Though the tahtlls colors were exceedingly bright and she would definitely not miss him in a crowd.
As she watched there was another tahtll to arrive and he was much calmer in his coloration and she listened as he stated he was here due to curiosity. "Hello, I'm Lilija." She said to the two newest members to enter the room as Razvan was already told her name.

'Oh goodie.' He thought to himself as he watched the puppets hanging from the ceiling sway slightly to and fro. His brow furled for a moment in thought and wonderment and then he glanced around for a moment and realized there were two others that had joined them. He had remained silent for the most part while he was listening to Lilija chatter with Razvan. "My name is Vesperus and I cannot be sure as of yet that I'm creative. I'm still trying to find my calling." He said rather cooly. Oh wasn't he just a buzz kill.
It wasn't that he didn't like company or conversation, he just wasn't that open to it just yet. His attention returned to the ceiling again. He wanted to know what had caused the movement above but he figured it wasn't going to be something he'd see just yet. If his mind hadn't been playing tricks on him anyway.
Gaze shifted towards the occupants of the room once more and he lifted a paw and looked at it for a moment before speaking. "What exactly do you do in the theatre? Besides carving props that is." He added the last part so the tahtll didn't repeat himself about the carving. He was interested to know about the rest of the 'magic' that went on behind the curtain.

He didn't hesitate in skipping over to where the formulating group was. Well, he wasn't actually skipping, but it certainly obvious he had a spring in his step! He was even tempted to hum, glee was written on his face as he gazed upon the wooden puppets strung along the ceiling. A bird, a turtle, and was that... The arch magi? Well! The theater had certainly been busy! Or very bored. Either seemed possible but regardless of which way it was some fascinating stage props had been created out of it!
He gave a cheerful smile to the two others Razvan was already speaking with as he walked to short distance to where they were. "Fresh blood? Oh yes, the theater definitely needs that!" He personally hadn't actually seen one of the plays yet, but he had assisted in some minor decorating the theater did now and again. They definitely needed a few more hands on deck, as assist was about the best that it got with Drakiabel. For various reasons... But mainly because he didn't know what 'job' he wanted to do, and often walked around just helping out anyone who needed a hand. So he was more frequently then not spotted all over the place when things were busy!
The brightly tahtll sat down and examined the other's faces with mild curiosity for their reactions towards him. "Hello, Lilija was it? And Vesperus? Nice to meet you both!" Drakiabel then twisted his head to face the new, pale-coated arrival. How wonderful that so many people were turning up all of a sudden! "Hello to you as well," he cooed with glee.

"Aurel" He spoke giving his name to the group that he ended up joining. It was all so fascinating. But sight seeing wasn't exactly what he had come here to the workshop for. His ears flickered at the sounds that the dangling puppets made when they swayed against each other. It brought his attention to them as his eyes wandered up in their direction.
"I was wondering" Aurel spoke up, trying to be as polite as he could, but once the questions began he could not help them coming out continuously. "What else do you make here aside from puppets? Are they easy to make? Would it be possible that I could learn how to make them or at least get some made for me? I work at the orphanage and I think it would be nice for the cubs to have something to play with while they are there." he explained.

This was quite the turnout it seemed since the theatre seemed to be lacking so many bodies. Though, she already had a calling. She was to be a Librarian. Her tail flicked wildly at the thought and she turned to look upon the brightly colored male once more. He certainly was eye catching. She only had eyes for Yune though. She was so surprised to have met someone who had a love for the same things as her and yet the two of them had so many differences. That was what made them so good together. Each of their strengths and weaknesses balanced each other out and she couldn't have asked for anyone better.
She gave Drak a nod of her head. "Yes, that is correct. It's nice to meet you as well." She said with a smile. "Are you part of the Theatre as well?" She asked him curiously. She then turned her sea colored gaze towards Aurel as he spoke and asked a couple of questions. She had seen him earlier at the courtyard and she couldn't help but admire the Tahtll and his dedication to the orphans in the orphanage. "Do you need any books there?" She asked him with glinting eyes? She would have to talk to Constanta about it but she was fairly certain the Lead wouldn't mind them donating a couple books and scrolls. It was for a noble cause. At least she thought so. "I would love to donate some of the books from the Library. I do have to get permission first." She said with a smile.
WC:265
He wondered what all entailed with working in the Theatre. He wondered if that would be something he'd be interested in. At least once he got all the details surrounding it. He liked to know all of his options before setting something in stone. His red gaze fell upon Drak and he gave a small nod. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance as well." He said calmly and cooly. His gazed then darted over towards Aurel as he spoke. He had recalled the Tahtll being in the courtyard but had left and somehow ended up here. He wasn't complaining, it was just where his travels were taking him this fine evening.
It seemed to him that everyone was full of questions and filled with curiosity. So Aurel worked with Orphans and Lilija was a Librarian. He wondered what Drak did as he was aware of Razvans duties. The only one who hadn't really said anything about their duties was himself and Drak. "What do you do for work Drakiabel?" He asked the colorful Tahtll with some mild curiosity. He would have to make a trip over to the Library one of these nights and see what was hidden in the pages of the books and scrolls that rested there. He wanted to know more and figured that books would be the next best thing, besides talking to others of course.

"Curiosity! An excellent thing, indeed." Raz still could not control the purr in his voice as he moved to address his visitors, shaking his wings out before folding them against his body. "I am very pleased to meet and see you all. To answer your questions, I will fill in for roles in our events if we're in need of extra players for them. The honest and wonderful truth about working in the theatre is that you'll rarely ever be relegated to a single job, unless you want it to be that way. A puppet-maker may not always be willing to man the puppets they create if they are not confident in their acting abilities, for example. It's entirely possible to be an actor and have a hand in the creative processes that go on behind the scene, if you show the initiative for it." He smiled as he spoke, before noticing Vesperus' upward gaze.
As if on cue, a thin screech rang out, and a grey and brown blur dropped from the ceiling, only to swoop down and narrowly avoid colliding with the purple-colored tahtll. It fluttered to make a clumsy landing on the table, revealing itself to be a rather eerily-marked bolf. It plunked itself down immediately and stared over at the newcomers, ears erect.
Raz barked a laugh at his companion's arrival, and lifted a wing to shoo her away. "Oh goodness, please ignore Titch here. She's quite fond of jumping out at new faces, I'm afraid." He tutted quietly and watched as the bolf leapt off the table and scurried off to one of the corridors. After taking a moment to recover his thoughts, he cleared his throat, and continued.
"My job here within the theatre is to relay the wishes and plans of the Toy Maker, and to make sure those plans are properly carried out and acted upon. Currently, there are a vast amount of jobs that need doing in order to fulfill those plans. It's not all about carving, of course. If you want to act, to sing, paint, or sew, you'll certainly find a place here to do any of those things, and hone those skills."
Raz paused for a moment, and seemed to light up again as Aurel spoke. "Ah, yes! This is another facet of my work, and I'm happy that you brought it up, Aurel. I am intensely interested in doing just this." He got up and hurried to the supply corridor for a moment, before coming back with a wingful of wooden pieces, all of which he spread out on the work table.
"Toy making is another mission statement of the Toy Maker and myself. It would be my pleasure to coach anyone in the art of toy creation, especially if it furthers the happiness of cubs. Whether it is easy or not depends on what you wish to make. Won't you all take a seat?"
He climbed back onto his chair and beckoned the four to join him, grinning sharply. "Whittling small baubles is not so difficult, but it does require a steady grip, and a clear image of what you want your end product to look like. Of course, the first step to learning any skill is to learn the basic motions. If you would like to experiment a bit with the pieces I've set out, feel free. You'll find tools in the table pockets." He picked his own creation back up, smiling as he looked it over.
"The objects you can create, with a little imagination, are almost limitless. From simple things like balls and blocks, to articulated figures and all sorts of games. Aurel, I have some things already made, that you can take with you today, if you wish. I would love to supply the Orphanarium with anything it needs to make the little ones happy."((sorry for the delay guys, I'll try to be quicker in the future. schools been a pain lately and i'm going into finals soon @3@))

Of course they had asked the difficult question, Draki sighed to himself internally. He awkwardly shuffled while looking at his feet and gave a short cough before he actually said anything. Gosh, how did he explain it? "Well you see, I sort of do a bit of everything here and there..." He started, rather vaguely at that. The Tahtll's ears flattened the tiniest bit as Drakiabel didn't enjoy sounding vague or confusing to others... As he talked his eyes traveled briefly between both Lilija and Vesperus, but finally settled on Lilija as she seemed a tad bit more interested in what he had to say. "Part of the theater? Well yeah. Sort of. I do some small things at the theater, things at the market, I mostly just sort of go where any extra paws are needed..." He explained, trailing off as his voice slowly became more quiet until he was only continuing the conversation in his head.
He was almost embarrassed? No, he didn't mind doing bits and pieces of everything. Though it was a bit odd to not have one set job or path in mind... Hmm.
When the Bolf came dropping from the ceiling, Drakiabel automatically flinched, his whole body lowering itself as he ducked to avoid collision with the creature, even when realistically the other B'alam was closer in it's path than he was! Raising himself back up he starred at the curious animal before it took off to who knew where. Titch. He'd have to keep an eye out for the small beastie to avoid getting spooked by her later...
Then he turned to pay more attention to Raz's description of his job. Learn from the master his voice quietly whispered in his head. If anyone could describe their job Drak trusted that Razvan could do it. Maybe'd he actually learn how to describe what he did better this way...
The vibrant Tah's interest piqued when Raz invited the group to experiment with the existing puppets. Eagerly, Drak maneuvered over to a chair and propped open one of the table drawers. His wings were neatly tucked by his side as he adjusted to sitting on the stool. "Heh, neat!" He chided, excitement impossible to not detect in his tone as he grinned happily at the array of tools. "What'd you suggest a beginner should try to make Raz?" He asked to pry for a suggestion.

"Books would be wonderful" Aurel replied back to Lilija. That would hopefully be another thing that the children would like. He was feeling like quite the ambassador for they orphanage at the moment, making connections to make the parent-less children have more then what they do now. It felt quite fulfilling, maybe he should get out more often.
The movement of the bolf caused his attention to switch to it as it nearly collided with the purple colored Tah named Vesperus. It seemed like quite the mischievous little thing.
"I would love to learn how to make them." Aurel responded to the toy maker's apprentice. "No matter how difficult it may seem." If he could work on things to further the cubs interests in the orphanage he would do it even if it would take up most of the time he had to himself.
Aurel moved up to join Raz as he was indicated to do so. It all seemed so intriguing and he was quite eager to learn to do so. "That would be much appreciated." he noted after Raz had spoke about having some that he could take back today. But before he could ask his own question the one named Drakiabel began to speak and in doing so ended up asking the same question that had been lingering in his mind. Aurel had no idea where to start, as this entire concept to him was new.

She listened as Draki began to explain what it was he did exactly. From what she was gathering it was a bit of everything and she nodded her head. "Ah, so you're kind of freelance then?" She said hoping that was the word she was searching for. It sounded about right and she cocked her head slightly and listened as his voice faded out slightly and figured he didn't really want to discuss it in much more detail. She was content with that. Her attention turned to Aurel as he happily accepted any sort of assistance.
She smiled at Aurel and was relieved that she could be of help to the Tahtll. She had made a rather poor first impression earlier at the gathering and had hoped she'd be able to make a comeback from it. She just needed to learn to not speak up so quickly and allow others to finish before adding her piece. "I'll definitely see what we have and I'll be sure to let you know." She said warmly, her tail flicking side to side happily. Her attention returned to Raz as she listened to him began to answer the many questions they all seemed to have for him.
It seemed to her that the theatre was lacking in a great deal of workers but seemed to be managing well with it's current occupancy. Though, she wondered what it would be like if they had enough workers. Her attention quickly turned skywards as Titch dropped down from the ceiling and nearly collided with Vesperus. Her markings were strange indeed but it didn't rattle her any. As the excitement of the Bolf arriving died down she continued to listen as Raz answered each of the questions that they had asked. She was very curious in what one could make when they set their mind to it. She couldn't help but smile as it seemed that Aurel was receiving much help from everyone for the Orphanarium.
She approached the table where he was when he beckoned them to join him and she nodded her head with Drakiabel asked what was probably on all of their minds. "I think we all wish to know the answer to that question." She said smiling.

It wasn't that he wasn't interested in what Drakiabel had to say, his mind was just wandering but he still listened to what the Tahtll had to say even though he seemed to be directing his answer more towards Lilija. So it would seem that Raz and Drakiabel really did a bit of everything. Hmm. He wondered if the same could be done for other professions. Not just within one profession, but having a mixture of different profession duties. His wings shifted at the thought. His attention quickly returned skyward as Titch dropped from where he had been looking not to long ago and nearly collided into him. He ducked his head slightly and watched her land upon the table rather clumsily. He looked over at Raz as he said she was harmless and he raised a brow and looked at her.
He turned back to Drakiabel for a moment, "It seems that you are quite handy to have around if you have a talent of doing more than one thing." He was curious about this because it felt like something he would want to do. Be useful in more than one way.
His attention returned to Raz as he began to answer the questions everyone had asked and then motioned for them to join him at the table. He wondered what they would create, though he wasn't planning on staying for too much longer. He felt like there were other places calling to him. Though he did want to stay for some time and see what they might be making. He took a seat with the rest of them at the table and poked around to see what tools there were. "Where should we begin?" He asked curiously.

Raz smiled fondly as the four chatted amongst themselves, endeared by Drakiabel most of all. He was a good tahtll, and Raz always rather hoped he'd stick around, even though he was fine just as he was. There was no need to be ashamed of what the colorful b'alam was trying to explain, but Raz hoped to instill some confidence in those who sought to learn from him. Whether one stuck to a single job or chose to do many odd jobs, all of it benefited the tribe in one way or another.
He lifted one of the unformed blocks of wood up, along with one of his carving knives, and turned it contemplatively. Smaller blocks, like the ones he had set out, were generally reserved for the creation of toys and the like. While small puppet parts could be whittled from them, he knew it was best to start out simple.
"Excellent question! Before we decide, though, why don't we start by taking a look at our material, and finding our tools. Knives are in the table pockets there." He motioned to Drakiabel, who had already found what it was they were looking for. The pockets held a variety of small tools, all wooden-handled with short metal ends. There were hooked tools, picks, scrapers, and of course, the carving knives, among other things.
"Since all of you are beginners, I'll give you a bit of a crash course on carving. What we're going to try now is technically called whittling; you'll shave little bits off these blocks, until you have the shape you want. If you look at the surface of the wood, you can see lines in it. Those are the rings of the tree they were cut from, and you'll want to pay close attention to which way they go."
Raz lifted a paw, smoothing his pads over the material in an almost loving manner, though he continued to hold it solidly in place before him. "The way the lines go is called the grain, and depending on which way you slice, it will be easier, or more difficult, to carve. In general, you'll usually be carving with the grain, or across it. This may seem like a small detail now, but it's very useful to know about before you begin to carve more intricate pieces."
To demonstrate, he dragged his knife along the block, to show what he meant, pointing out the grain and directions. "Carving against the grain is difficult, and you'll see what I mean when you start to experiment. Go ahead and try it out. You'll use a sort of scooping motion to 'shave' the wood. Oh, and please be careful to carve away from yourselves. We don't want any accidents!" He chuckled, and continued to whisk pieces off the wood, beginning to smooth out one of the edges.astoriafallen :3 font is fine, just dark enough not to be eyesore status!
