Gaming - Helen is a professional gamer, and she is extremely devoted to what she'd love to make a lasting career of. Fighting games are her area of expertise, although she's been known to enjoy a few racing games here and there. She has a natural talent for memorizing the combinations and various strategies, but she still spends hours of every given day sitting in front of a screen, controller in hand, refining her skills - which has understandably had a huge impact on her grades at school. Her father's less than thrilled about this, although he's trying his hardest to both be supportive and nudge her into taking her studies more seriously. Helen, though, fully believes that this is her calling and has no real interest in anything else.
Exercise - Anything else, that is, besides keeping herself in top shape. Years back, after her mother left and Helen began to fully invest herself in the world of gaming, a curvy girl to begin with, she found herself struggling and put on a decent amount of weight. As she got involved with tournaments and began to attract some attention, though, Helen quickly realized a lot of that attention was not positive. For her image alone, the completely wrong reasons, Helen began dedicating as much time as she could into exercising and eating right. (This isn't to say her means of putting off the weight are unhealthy - but her logic and increasing fascination with everyone else's opinion are, very much so.)
Research - Although Helen hardly tries at school, it frustrates the ever living hell out of her teachers because she's clearly more than capable - her test scores reflect a broad, untapped intellect - but she simply doesn't care. When it comes to video game trivia, voice actors, movies, anything that she finds relevant and interesting, she will happily sit there for hours on end and read page after page about it and anything relating to it. And trust her, she'll be more than happy to tell you all about it (re: look how much more I know than you) when the chance arises.
Virtues: -
Focused - When Helen devotes herself to a task, no matter how big or small, her world narrows. She will forgo almost anything to accomplish her goal, and short of death, nothing will deter her from finishing what she has set out to do. This has the unfortunate drawback of tuning out anything that isn't relevant to the task at hand, including people, and a lot of her personal relationships have suffered as a result.
Adaptive - In gaming and in life, Helen is used to having to think on the fly to garner the results she wants - and the only result she will settle for is success. She is extremely good at changing tactics in the blink of an eye, or even coming up with a new approach all together based on the patterns she has witnessed.
Calm - Or she seems to be at a glance. Helen is by no means an ice queen and does show and feel emotion, but simply rarely allows her own feelings to get the better of her under duress. She has a habit of doing this by either mentally removing herself from the equation (pretending as though she were a third party looking in instead of one of those impacted), or by retreating into her own mind until she can come up with a solution. Maybe not the best means of accomplishing this, but in any case Helen can be relied on to keep a cool head in tense situations and produce results.
Flaws:
Selfish - In the end, Helen does all she does for herself, and not for anyone else's sake - and she's rather shameless about it. It's not that she's incapable of caring for other people, but in Helen's mind, she regards her own feelings and goals as more important than anyone else's. It's not that she doesn't care about hurting anyone's feelings as much as she thinks the ends justify the means, and the ideal end is the one where she gets her way.
"Talk to me woman!!" - Outside of her circle of friends that stick to her more like eternal barbs in her side rather than a soothing embrace, Helen simply doesn't often vocalize her train of thought, much less how she's feeling. She internalizes a lot of things, and it's not so much that she is bad at communication as it is an extension of her own innate selfishness. The end results are one thing, but she sees nothing that other people could offer her in terms of strategizing or support that she couldn't do better alone.
Hard-Headed - Helen's best ideas come from herself. Helen knows best what is good for Helen. Helen is adaptive when it comes to problem solving, yes, but when it comes to accepting help or advice from anyone else, she becomes frustrated, obstinate, and stubborn, to the point where she will do the polar opposite of what they say against all logic just to try and prove a point.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Perfectly fine the way they are now, maybe just a touch more green and a little more vivid?
Hair: This, with the colors to match her eyes.
Face: Shape-wise, again, very much similiar to what has been provided already - but the girl's a freckle train. She also has her ears pierced, two in each ear, and as a civ she wears thick-rimmed glasses since she's just barely near-sighted enough for it to matter.
