CHILDHOOD Born in Cork, Ireland, Guy was a rambunctious child from the get-go. He had an older brother and a younger sister, so he developed a sense of humor to stand out on his own. It was always in his nature to provoke a laugh from his friends, and this sense of compassionate humor attracted the attention of the girl next door: Mia Whitbeck. The two were childhood sweethearts, and Guy spent nearly every waking moment thinking of ways to make her smile. It was a welcome distraction from the dysfunction that took place in his own household. Guy's parents divorced around the time he turned ten. Not long after, Mia disappeared for a long while, leaving Guy with a confused and broken heart.
SCHOOL YEARS It was very tough to try to fill the void left by his sweetheart's sudden disappearance, and Guy lost his lighthearted spirit. He became a loner at school, never visiting with friends or even talking very much. The poor child couldn't find a sense of purpose, and his depression eventually got so bad that he would create worlds in his mind and escape to them. There was no need to be concerned with reality when imagination land was better. But as Guy spent more and more time sitting by himself imagining, he isolated himself more and more. Separated from human interaction for so long, Guy attempted to take his own life. He wound up in a psychiatric facility, where Mia Whitbeck finally came to visit him at last. She explained to him why she'd had to go away, and told him how hard it was to keep it all a secret, but that she couldn't stay away any longer and wanted to stay and help Guy get better. Which is exactly what she did.
POST GRADUATION Once the pair finished their respective educations, Guy proposed. They married quickly at a beautiful beachside ceremony. Now that Mia was his forever, Guy found his passion again. He took a job with social services, managing the cases of troubled youth. It was and is extremely rewarding to him to help improve the lives of his kids. Speaking of which, he now has one of his own. Elias is his world, once he was born everything else took a backseat. Except Mia, of course.

■ REBELLIOUS Tess is, first and foremost, a non-conformist. She is open about her dislike of the rules, and absolutely adores pushing boundaries. Even if a policy is completely justified, Tess will go out of her way to undermine it. There is a kind of "So there!" petulance within her, a strong repulsion from authority. To put it in her own words, "Nobody tells ME what to do." She would not do well under an employer, and thus seeks a position of self-employment.
■ CREATIVE Though not quite artistic, Tess is inventive. Her creativity is expressed in the out-of-the-box solutions she comes up with. She doesn't need to look for life hacks; she comes up with them on her own. Another creative outlet she has is stream-of-consciousness writing, and even poetry. She's not a great verbal linguist, but after "thinking it through" on paper, she can make one hell of a performance when it comes to pitching her ideas.
■ STUBBORN Once she's turned on to something, Tess will not back down. She won't stop fighting until she gets her way. Even concrete proof that she is in the wrong must sit with her for a long while before she will admit defeat. CHILDHOOD From the moment she could remember, Tess always had to struggle to find a way out of her sister's shadow. Anything she accomplished, Mia had already done it years before. She got to watch as her parents praised her older sister for each new accolade, and it really annoyed her. Being so far apart in age, the two weren't close, especially early in life. This led to some harbored resentment toward Mia, which was admittedly irrational. Tess hungered for any kind of reaction from mum and dad, and since achievement didn't provoke much, she turned to trouble. She might not have been the first to get on honor roll, but she was the first to utter a swear word, to get a suspension, and to steal candy bars from the gas station.

CHILDHOOD Elias has had a very good upbringing. His parents were there in every moment of panic, and they continue to teach him their take on good moral values. Elias never developed a penchant for risk-taking or rambunctiousness, but wasn't set on people-pleasing either.
