There was just something refreshing about getting out of the city—even if it wasn’t that far. Arias had his fair share of thoughts polluting his head, so to be somewhere so devoid of pollution…
Maybe it was the Earth Knight in him, but it was enough to make his heart feel a little lighter.
Humanly worries just seemed to disappear when he was surrounded by climbing trees and dense foliage. The air was cleaner, the ground was cleaner (unless you were counting dirt and bugs and…dirt…
It was just refreshing. A good hike was the best way to cleanse the soul and come back stronger.
…And for as much as he wanted to take a trip to his Wonder and get a good look around, he didn't have it in him. The sheer sensation of his Wonder had been enough to leave him shy and nervous and he almost didn't want to go back. No wonder he'd put it off for so long.
And yet, a part of it was still calling to him. And so, here he was, trying to find something to build up the nerve to go back.
It was familiar territory; nothing amazing. He was a little off the path. He had thought he was alone, sans perhaps the general non-dangerous residents, until he heard a noise too close for comfort. The hackles on his back raised at the sound of movement—of a twig cracking and leaves rustling. It was hard to tell which direction it had come from, so he just stood still and tried to get a better idea of how far away it had been—and what had made it.

It had been a very long time now since Lorne had taken a walk by himself.
A walk was not to be confused with a patrol. Patrols were done powered with his senses on high alert, hyper aware of his surroundings, and usually in the bowels of the city. Even in the park, a huge step above all the concrete of the city and its streets, patrols were not meant to relax and unwind. It simply wasn't the nature of the beast.
Those times he did hike, or just relax in the park, he wasn't usually alone, not anymore. He had gone out a lot with Nadia especially, reading to her beneath the shade of a tree as she napped lightly beside him. Once or twice Colin had come with him too, something tentatively shared with his best friend.
Really, with Kyle back now, there was no shortage of people he could've gone with... but it was a little nice, really, to take a little time for himself and his thoughts somewhere that wasn't tucked beneath his blanket in the dark. A lot had happened after all.
So needless to say, he was a little surprised when he emerged from some undergrowth, several brown and dry leaves clinging to his hair, to see someone else there with him. His yellow eyes went wide.
"Oh, uh - h-hi! Sorry, I didn't think anyone else would be - " As much as he needed some time alone, likewise, Lorne had an intense love-hate relationship with solitude; he did and didn't want it. But for someone this far out, surely they wanted it?

Arias seemed surprised at the male's appearance, but not unhappy. On the contrary, he was quite pleased that it was a human and not a wild animal erupting from the foliage.
He held his hands up and provided an apology of his own promptly;
"No, no--I thought the same! I was just wandering sort of aimlessly so I hadn't expected anyone. I thought you were some animal, to be honest, so I am much happier to find that you are human," he laughed.
"Though, I am sorry for startling you. Are you all right...?" Maybe it was the leaves in his hair, or the look of surprise he'd seen on the male's face--or his own over concerned nature, but he wouldn't have been himself if he didn't ask.
