The knight Hyperborea stood at the gate of his magnificent city. He had just shaved this morning so his chiseled face was clean and clear underneath his golden helm. His long black hair laid on his shoulder neatly braided. His bright purple eyes seemed calm and stoic however they belied his anxiety for the day.

The young cosmos knight had only recently taken his knightly vows and now he was tasked with receiving a senshi dignitary, a prince no less. The Hyperborean high council had decided to enter into trade negotiations with the word of Remarque and it was Hyperborea's duty to play host to prince Remarque.

The young man was followed by two beautiful Hyperborean priestesses from the high temple of Apollon. They were wore white chitons with purple himation and had crowns of flowers adorning their hair. They were to help him welcome the visitors and then show the council of Remarque to the Hyperborean high council room.

There had been posted extra guards on the front gate for the princes arrive. Hyperborea couldn't help but think about how pointless it was to have guards on the gate when the city had not witnessed a serious war within living memory however it was Hyperborean philosophy that strength was need to protect peace so he shrugged the thought off figuring even if they never needed them their would always be guards and walls around Hyperborea.

Festivity was in the air in the city. It was finally the time of blooming as the rainbow colored cherry blossoms upon the acropolis were in full bloom and the scent of the olive trees filled the streets. There was music being played as the ancient Hyperborean lyrics describing old myth stories filtered into Hyperborea's ears, there was always music being played in the city and because of the stonework the sounds always carried throughout the wonder and mixed into a beautiful harmony. Hyperborea knew that there would be citizens lining the street to catch a glimpse of the foreign prince, they would probably be throwing flower petals to welcome him. A bit of a pain given that Hyperborea would have to have his city guard clear the streets come the next day but it would make for a grand welcome.

The arrival of his awaited guests brought Hyperborea out of his thoughts. The prince was quiet beautiful in Hyperborea's opinion with his long blond hair done up in an elaborate foreign style. The prince was only in his eternal form but Hyperborea knew the power he possessed and felt a fair amount of respect for the senshi prince. The guards and priestesses kneeled before Remarque and his council as Hyperborea walked to the blond senshi before taking a knee, he bowed his head. "I welcome you oh fair prince to our grand city within the stars. Hyperborea welcomes you, Sailor Remarque." The knight said in a kind but official tone. He stood and turned his attention to the other Remarque men. "The high council will meet with you in their chambers to discuss the treaty between our people and your world. These priestesses will show you the way." He said as the two girls rose and lead the other men away into the city.

He turned his attention back to the prince, whom he now towered over since he was standing. "If you would do me the honor I would like to show you around my wonder. We may visit what ever interests you." He said offering the prince a friendly smile as he removed his helm and held it in the crook of his arm.

Remarque was clearly out of his comfort zone the moment he arrived at the Wonder; he was used to showing up with no council trailing behind him—a nameless vagabond, free to sneak around and do as he pleased. It was rare that he event acknowledged his status as Prince while on his own homeworld and he plainly faltered when addressed with the title.

When the women began to escort the rest of the Council, Remarque glanced between them and the man in front of him, partially longing to stay with the company of a group he knew…but mostly longing to see the Wonder. He hadn't come here for official business, despite carrying with him a single book and a fancy looking pen.

…And it was rare to see someone so armored in Remarque. They had no true military of their own, and even their guard was lacking and favored fashion over function. But then, Remarque suspected there was so little crime back home simply because there was such necessity to keep your hair perfect.

You couldn't very easily rob or murder a man and still get out with a nice hairdo.

…And this Knight was handsome, so he flashed a quick smile and tried not to look like he was admiring he jaw line. "—You can call me just Remarque. I don't need any of those fancy titles. Uhm." He drew his book closer and shifted positions, half nervously and half eagerly.

"You don't have to show me around, either—I'm quite skilled at getting lost. And finding myself," he reassured. "I admit, I'll probably bore you with my sight seeing, so if you have more important things to do, please don't feel obligated! I won't be fussy. I mean, I could probably spend the whole day just right here, looking around!"

He laughed, and while it might have been a joke, he didn't seem like he was lying. His eyes flickered eagerly over everything before settling back on the knight. "—I'm sorry, I don't…What was your name again? I'm so sorry! I got so caught up, the Council was talking, and I wasn't really listening, see, they're always so boring…Oh! But, I mean, and then we got here, and…I mean, it was so beautiful, I just…I wasn't…I'm sorry. I'm Remarque," he said, jutting out a hand to shake.

It stayed extended for a full second before his face began to turn red and he muttered, "Oh, but. But you knew that, because you already said my name. Because you probably listened to your council, and you are not the one making a fool of himself in front of a foreign dignitary."

Hyperborea now felt at ease, this prince was not some overly official, prim and proper noble as he had been expecting. He gave the prince a friendly smile. He couldn't help but smirk at how fluster the senshi was.

"Only through the incessant reminders of the priestesses and the old men of the council, they would not forgive me if I forgot the name of a potential trading partner." He said with a laugh.

"But you needn't worry Remarque, I find no offense in you forgetting my name. I am called Hyperborea." He said taking the much smaller hand in his strong stone grasp and gently shaking it.

"I must insist though, the council men would rake me over the coals if I allowed you to get lost here." Although he wouldn't say it, it was actually rather dangerous for a powered person to wander around Hyperborea. If Remarque found one of the back doors leading into the labyrinth he could open it and wander in, then he would be lost forever.

"And besides my duty is to entertain my guest first and foremost, it is the Hyperborean way. If I might make a few suggestions: our famed rainbow cherry blossom trees are in full bloom up on the acropolis, The market is also nice right now, or we could see a show, or any other place you'd prefer to go to." He said as he motioned for Remarque to walk beside him.

"Fair warning my people are excited for your visit, it is not often that they get to see a non-Hyperborean so they'll probably be giving you a grand welcome once we reach the main street." Hyperborea said with a chuckle.

Sure enough there were people lining the streets once they reached the main street of Hyperborea with it's beautiful marble statues of former knights of Hyperborea, and its olive trees that filled in the space in between the statues. People from the houses above the street threw flower petals down and stone giants of all ages gave the prince welcome. Children, who were almost as tall as the prince, ran up admiring the senshi and asking various questions about 'what he was' and 'what he was doing here' before mothers and fathers dragged them back apologizing for disturbing the senshi and knight.

"Sorry about that." Hyperborea said to Remarque once they had made it past the throngs of giants. "So where would you like to go first?"

As getting lost was somewhat of an unwilling hobby for the senshi, he nodded and supposed it would be wise to keep an escort who knew his way around. Well—thank you, for the warning. I'd hate to make a fool of myself in front of everyone."

He seemed distracted for a second, smoothing himself over and trying to look as proper as possible. "I hate surprises," he had managed before they reached the main street.

He relied heavily on Hyperborea to help him out of the mess of people, and while he had smiled and answered what he could, he was clearly shy around numbers. He could play the role when he needed to, but he didn't really like it. He was still brushing petals out of his hair.

"Oh, uhm…I mean, anything sounds good. May I see your trees first, though? I've heard about them. In a book. I like books. But the one I had didn't have a picture, so I would really like to see if they are as beautiful as they described. If you don't mind, that is. —I am sorry you have to play babysitter," he said, seeming tied up on the thought. "Are you always here, or do you get to visit other places, too?"

Hyperborea nodded. "They are the pride of Hyperborea. I'll take you through a back passage to avoid the crowds on the main path." Hyperborea said as he lead the blond senshi to a large stone door cut into the acropolis hill. He touched the doors and willed some of his magic into them, it opened in response. Before them was a stone stairway lit by purple crystals with Hyperborean hieroglyphics decorating the walls. "This way." The doors closed behind them.

"I prefer to think of myself as a host rather than a babysitter, and you have no need to be sorry I find myself enjoying your company." Hyperborea said without looking back.

"To answer your question, I am far more sedentary then most of my Cosmos brothers and sisters however I have done my fair share of traveling. I visited the Golden Empire when I went to the academy and I have been back there on a few personal visits. I made the journey to Sagittarius Zero Star and my lady's castle some years ago. I have also traveled to a few other worlds and wonders, to meet with guardians I count among my friends and allies." He explained.

After a bit of walking they reached the marble exist and the light of the courtyard filled the stairway as Hyperborea opened the door. The courtyard was a beautiful scene with the magnificent cherry blossoms with their many vibrant colors fluttering in the cosmic winds. A young Hyperborean girl in priestess clothes stood on the raised marble dais flanked on both side by four rainbow cherry blossom trees, she was strumming a harp and singing a beautiful song in the Hyperborean language. A few couples were seated listening to her.

"Here we are Remarque. I hope they live up to your expectations."

Remarque laughed at the host and not a babysitter comment, and for a moment he had a sort of sad look, as though he were too used to the being treated like a child to believe that Hyperborea wasn't some ambassador his councilors had set him up with to distract him while they did 'business'.

He smiled, though, when Hyperborea claimed to be enjoying his company. He had enjoyed listening to the man talk and though he had not been to anywhere the Knight had listed, his mind was wandering with possibilities of what they could look like.

He had meant to say something to actually add to the conversation, but he wound up absolutely silent—breath taken by the sight. And sound.

Remarque let out a wistful sigh. "Wow. We have a lot of beautiful things on Remarque, but I've…never heard music like that. Or seen trees like that. That's…"

Words eluded him, and then he just sighed pleasantly. "…That's really nice. You know, back on Remarque they have music, too, but it's nothing like that. I wish I could play the harp. I'd love to take that music back with me."

Sorry this tag took so long, I suck sweatdrop

"We import our harps from Neptune, they are quiet wonderful. As for the music, I can have sheet music drawn up for you to take back." He said with a smile happy to hear his wonder be praised so much.

He motioned to a woman nearby in priestly garb, she made her way over to the pair quickly. After a quick exchange the woman nodded and quickly walked into the large temple complex nearby.

"She will bring the music when you are about to leave. And if you truly like the trees I can talk to the council about including a sapling or two in the trade agreement between our peoples." He offered.

"Oh, I'd love that!" Remarque blurted excitedly, making a mental note to go to Neptune as quickly as possible. He waved to the woman as she left, out of habit more than anything else. "I'm sure my Council doesn't care about trees, but clearly they just don't spend enough time underneath them," he said, rolling his eyes. A smile was quick to light up his face again though, and he put one hand on Hyperborea's arm. "Oh my gosh, don't tell them I said that! They try to chew me out enough already! I do plenty of work on Remarque, I promise! I don't just laze about all day, it's just—everything's so peaceful there. They only need me like once a month, and…"

He shrugged, already trying to admire another of Hyperborea's trees. "…I mean, you know how relaxing it is? You find a nice tree in the setting sun"—(he did not add that the sun was in a permanent 'setting' location on his asteroid)—"and you just relax and watch the wind blow through the grass—watch the world go on? I love it. It's beautiful. Great inspiration, too."

Remarque seemed like he could have kept talking and had to make a conscious effort to silence and compose himself. He looked up to the Knight again. "Do you have hobbies or are you always working so hard?"

"Nonsense, I'll have a sapling sent to you're palace." He said with a laugh. "I'm sure they would appreciate the care of someone who admires them as much as you seem to." He assured the young man.

He placed a large stone hand on the prince's shoulder. "Don't worry I'm used to keeping things from the attention of prying old men." He said with a laugh. He was not a fan of his council, as far as he was concerned they were a bunch of stooges who were far too uptight for there own good. But they were the elected officials of the city and he was still too young to be granted the right to govern, so he put up with them. "I understand, the need for battles is scarce these day even here, so far from the reaches of the court of Serenity. I as well often find myself with little to do but relax as the days roll by. "

"I haven't seen a setting sun since my days at the academy back on the Earth." He said with a chuckle. "Here in Hyperborea it is always day time, but I understand your meaning. There is nothing more relaxing than to sit up here while the poets sing of epic tales, feeling the cosmic wind breeze through your hair."

"Hmm, well I enjoy my sparring sessions with our weapons master. I also enjoy hearing poetry. I also enjoy studying our ancient tales and prophesy. I have also dabble in the arts and philosophy on occasion though I would not say I am very good at them." He answered.

"Oh that reminds me." He said digging into his pocket. He pulled out a glowing crystal necklace that was warm to the touch. "This is a gift, from my people to you fair prince. May it forever signify you as a friend of Hyperborea."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 07, 2016 5:55 pm

Remarque blinked, a bit surprised when he was presented with the gift. He took it hesitantly, holding it as if it were a fragile treasure. "Really?" he asked, seeming a bit surprised. At first, he was filled with delight--and then guilt.

His eyes shot back up to Hyperborea. "I'm afraid I haven't brought you anything. Oh! But if you ever have any free time, you should come to my asteroid some time! I can show you around. You'll leave with pockets full of gifts. And you can see the setting sun! And the breeze," Remarque sighed wistfully. He loved his home, that much was certain.

"If you like poetry and the arts, you should drop by, too! Remarque is very artful. Every medium you could imagine. And music, and food. Everyone is very passionate on Remarque. Though, we don't fight much. We don't have a weapons master. Or a guard, even. I don't like sparring," he confessed. "...I do it when I have to, to make sure that I can protect the people when I need to, but..."

He shrugged and seemed to be closely looking at the gift he'd received, obviously impressed with it. "Do you ever wish you'd been born normal? Not a Knight, I mean. Or are you happy with all of this? Wouldn't change a thing?"

Kyuseisha no Hikari

"Of course, it is only right. The god Apollon long ago dictated the rules of hospitium that all Hyperboreans should follow; I as the host should give my guest gifts, food, entertainment, and shelter whenever I am able." He explained.

He smiled. "I shall have to schedule a trip to Remarque then. It sounds like a beautiful world."

"It does seem at times a useless endeavor training or keeping guards in this time of peace. But personally I find it enjoyable to exercise my body, to feel my heart quicken at the clashing of blows." A part of him wished for war, for a chance to test his mettle in the fire of battle.

Hyperborea thought about the prince's question for a moment. "I am not sure. I have been raised to be a knight since my earliest memories. The day I was selected to go to the knight academy of Earth had been a very proud moment, my parents and teachers had showered me with praise. Here on Hyperborea knights are thought of as paramount. So I suppose I have never had the luxury of considering being anything else. But given the choice I suppose it would be nice to not have these responsibilities, to be able to do whatever I wanted in life. What about you?"
