It was a nice night; not too hot, not too cold. Autumn had fallen upon Destiny City and it made wearing a coat a little more of a convenience than a problematic part of powering up. Captain Richterite adjusted the collar on his coat, humming softly to himself as he strolled through the park, cutting away from the main path to head through the woods.

The park was generally empty at this time of night, the guards doing a sweep just after dusk to make sure that everyone had left before minding their own unless a problem popped up. It was one of the reasons why he enjoyed coming here. He could find his way to his favorite bench, kick his feet up and pretend that he was doing something useful until someone, or something, stumbled his way... Right?

Right.

He felt the *plop* seconds after hearing rustling above his head and likely would have startled more if whatever had fallen on him had actually weighed a substantial amount. It wasn't a person, at the very least, which was a plus, and whatever it was wasn't giving off the same vibe as a tiny, tubby youma searching for something familiar would.

Richterite held himself as still as he could, reaching up to gently pat at whatever it was that was balancing on his head. He held it in place, carefully tilting his head down in order to tumble the ball of fur off of his head and into his arms. "Well, well... What have we here, hm?"

Upon realizing that the critter that had fallen on him was a cat he had smiled only for the smile to falter the moment it started talking. That made the little guy more than just a cat. It made him a Cat; uppercase and everything. This was a nice prize. This could probably net him some bonus points. It might make up for the lack of attentiveness to his duties... It might make some of his superiors actually proud of him.

The feline was trembling, though; not because of the cold, but because it was afraid. Scaring a kitten was something akin to kicking a chibi and that made him feel like a Bad Person (tm).

"s**t... I'm not going to hurt you." He made a face, attempting to hold the cat still. "Don't you think I would've done that by now?" His brow quirked as he glanced down at the cat. "Look, I was planning on taking a seat over there and minding my own business for a bit. I'd rather not get into a fight tonight if I can avoid it... Are you going to run away if I set you down?"

"Why wouldn't a person want to sit down in the park and enjoy a night light tonight?" His brow lofted slightly as he glanced down at the feline briefly before heading over to the bench he'd been on his way towards in the first place. "I think what you forget, and by 'you' I very loosely mean creatures aligned with Order, is that we are people deep down. Some of us are mad. More than a few of us are murderous... It probably isn't the best idea for a cat, especially a talking one, to be out alone on their own... But that doesn't mean I'm going to hurt you."

He plopped down onto the bench, giving the feline a light scratch behind the ears before shifting to gently set the cat down on the bench beside him. "If I had a purpose in coming out tonight I'm afraid I've forgotten it. Mind if I do something unexpected instead? Chat with a cat for a bit, maybe?"

"Better that you fell on my head than for me to fall on it, right?" His brow lofted as he glanced down at the cat again, grinning. "Mind you, I've fallen on it once or twice in my lifetime, but it's usually a practice I prefer to avoid."

Richterite kicked his feet out in front of him, crossing one boot over the other at the ankle as he made himself comfortable on the bench. "Evil is a rather rough term, don't you think? I'm sure it's easy to just slap it down like a blanket and assume that everyone who isn't on your side is a bad guy, but I was a normal kid at one point in time... Well, let's use the term 'normal' loosely. If I was completely normal I wouldn't have let a friend of mine from highschool teleport me into the Rift to let someone reach into my chest, right?"

He laughed at himself, shaking his head slowly before reaching over to lightly scratch the back of the cat's neck again, provided he was permitted to do so. "So you're a Guardian Cat? Somehow I thought you'd be radiating some sort of holy light or something; like I'd singe my hand just trying to touch you. Kind of surprised it's not like that, if we're being honest... Assuming you'd rather not be called 'kitten', what do I call you?"

"Chaonis sounds a lot like this girl I used to know. She wasn't very nice; not on the surface, at least. Liked to puff up and act like she was more important than everyone else... Deep down she wasn't too bad, though. Had a good heart, even if she was a bit of a nightmare every now and then." He shifted slightly, uncrossing his legs so that he could sit up and actually have a lap in the event that the cat, Hadaya, decided that just bumping against his arm wasn't enough.

He scratched the feline's neck once more before bringing his hand up, giving him a gentle pat on the head and then scratching behind his ears. "I'll let you in on a secret, Hadaya... It probably isn't a bad idea to be afraid of us, even if we aren't all 'evil'. I'm not saying that to scare you off, because I'm not one to go back on my word, but Destiny City is pretty dangerous and I know we contribute to a good bit of that." There was no use in lying about it. Even if he did the cat was likely to find out the truth on his own, or because someone else showed it to him.

"I go by Captain Richterite when I'm wearing this outfit. It's a mouthful, isn't it?"

"Did you have something in mind for a nickname, Hadaya?" He laughed softly as he continued to pet the feline. When he had been told about Guardian Cats he had never expected that running into one would turn out anything like this... It seemed that misconceptions were something that could be had on both sides.

"... The General. Do you know her name?" He was curious about the half youma as well; more than he wanted to admit, but one thing at a time. "Guessing Navi is your senshi? Or at least a senshi that you know? Unless that's a nickname too. Doesn't sound like a rock to me, though."

"Hm... Silver sounds like it should be part of a code name, like Silver Falcon or Silver Eagle or something like that." He would have helped continue to brainstorm names but the general's name made him pause to the point where even his hand fell still.

"I don't know Navi, but I do know Painite. Whoever told you to stay away from her probably knew what they were talking about. I've only seen her once in the past couple of years..." He seemed almost saddened by that, as though he wondered briefly whether or not things might have been different if he'd been around more himself. It probably would have been; different for him, at least. He very well might have become the kind of man who would have teleported straight into the Rift with Hadaya the moment he'd fallen on him.

He wasn't, though. Somehow, despite all of his initial intentions in joining the 'dark side' he hadn't become that...

"I've heard a lot of things, though. Do you know what she looks like so you know to avoid her if you see her?" He slid his hand under Hadaya's chin, tilting the cat's head up to look at him.
