Course Info Mist Hunter The Miss Taken Tower General Information As the general, jack-of-all trades division, the Mist Hunter training course is a combination of the other divisions' training challenges and also one of the more complicated. The goal of this course is to rescue the princess in the tower. Below her, you'll find yourself confronted with a number of shadowling attackers, and beyond them, a room of only slightly deadly traps. But even should you reach her location, you still need to pick the lock on the manacles holding her in place. Unskilled fiddling with the locks will prove unhealthy for both the princess and yourself. And once that's done, you need to make your way back down through the traps and shadowlings, defending the princess the whole way.
The Miss Taken Tower is one of the most challenging and frustrating courses available.
If you fail: your princess dies, and you are quite possibly KO'd. Senior hunters are observing and will make with a timely rescue as needed.
If you win: the princess will adore you for the rest of her exceedingly brief existence. Peen points for 100% health for you and the Princess, shadowlings fought, going for consecutive rescues.
Part 1 Mechanics - roll your regular attack - roll your regular attack again - if you miss an attack, you lose 50% of your full HP - if you have an available recovery bonus, you may try to use that to avoid HP loss
Bonus Mechanics - This bonus is consumable. - for the Mist Course, it is recommended you review the mechanics of the other division courses, as the division bonuses carry over.
- Trainees: 0 recoveries - Mist/Sun Trainees: 1 recovery - Hunters: 1 recovery - Mist/Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries
Part 2 Mechanics - there are two steps worth of traps in this room, so you'll be rolling twice

01. horrible death 02. - 50% HP 03. - 50% HP 04. live 05. live 06. - 50% HP 07. horrible death 08. - 50% HP 09. horrible death 10. live

Bonus Mechanics
- Trainees: roll 1d4 - Mist/Life Trainees: roll 1d6 - Hunters: roll 1d6 - Mist/Life Hunters: roll 1d8

Getting called out to a training course over twitter...it was kind of a trip, but he came out anyway and waved over at Shu, the one who'd invited him, as he made his approach. The Tower was fairly intimidating as he walked up to its entrance, and he took a deep breath to calm his nerves before stepping through its doors and summoning Zephira. The sword materialized in his hand, its weight bringing him a sort of comfort, though the way she snorted in the back of his mind certainly wasn't.
"Let's do this, then?" he ask, gripping the handle tight as the first wave of shadows crashed down onto them.Status Stage: 1 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

The tiny figure in a long white coat with crossed scythes at the back was flexing when Rhys saw her, tied her hair in mess bun. "Hello mister, hope you're not doing something important. I'm bored and have some free times so be my guest." She took a peek at the tower, unlike Rhys, she felt excited even it was her first time to challenge the tower. In a veil of pink light, she was holding her hammer when she asked if he was ready. Breaking in, the tower quickly engulfed them in darkness. Shadowlings couldn't wait to claw at them. "Mister, be careful of them, they take advantage of the darkness. Use the runes on your weapon to illuminate the area and keep your defense on." She swung one off the stair as she ran behind Rhys. "The princess is located at the top of the tower, just ascend the stairs will do." It wasn't the first time he'd seen her weapon, but its size was still as surprising as it had been for him the first time she summoned it. As he hacked away at the oncoming shadows, he chanced a glance at her--the rush was starting to overtake the nerves that he had just moments earlier. Before he could ask about her hammer though, they were overrun by the shadows. "Runes, defense, gotcha..." he said, working his way through them as they made their way slowly but surely up the steps.
"It's like these things are comin' out of a faucet," he grumbled as he slashed at one and wound up slamming against the wall to their immediate left. Another took its place nearly as soon as he took another step up. When he had a chance he looked over at her again, a little unsure about what exactly it was they were doing. "Did you say princess?"Status Stage: 1 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

She smashed another shadow against the wall, those weak creatures were easy to dissipate but when they attacked in the form of a swarm, it was troublesome to deal with. Besides, seeing Rhys's weapon for the first time pulled some of her concentration away. < Focus, silly!> Simultaneously with the howl came a cluster of shadow loomed over, they banged on her shield and snapped of her energy. She let out a short yelp in surprise but shortly twisted her hammer to push the whole thing down the series of stairs, pretty much like a ball of something. "Jeez." She breathed out. "Aya. They love dark environment like this so their growth was dramatically fast." She explained, continued to brandish her weapon to sweep bunches of shadows off their paths. "Yup princess golem that took the appearance of any possible existing hunters you might know, in princess dress." She giggled, amused by the thought and the past examples she had seen. There came lights ahead, informing them their next location was close. The beast snorted at the girl entered her senpai mode, picking up the shadows Rhys missed.

He took in her explanations with each slash at the shadows, occasionally taking hits as well but he was doing...okay, it seemed. The blob that nearly overtook Shu had him a little worried, but she was well able to hand it.
Talk of the princess golems was was amusing in its own twisted sort of way. Putting faces of existing hunters on what were effectively dolls dressed as princesses, dress and all. He was surprised Zephira hadn't said anything to comment, but she seemed completely sucked into their task of fending off the shadows the rest of the way up. The light that had started as just a dot slowly but surely grew until finally, with a final slash at one last shadow he stepped up onto landing.
The room he was staring into gave him pause, but there was no going back at that point else getting through all those shadows would have been a complete waste of his time. Never mind Shu was actually helping him out with this training ********..." he muttered as he took a tentative step forward, and then another, and then another. He made it about halfway through the room before he looked back at her again. "So once we hit the top there's an exit there waiting for us, right?" 'Cause like hell he'd go through this room again if he could avoid it.Status Stage: 2 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

The princess golem was more for personal entertainment more than functional use, the life technicians that were too bored would make the hunters they had hostility against wore the most mismatched costumes, knowing their fates were mostly perished. She still recalled last time she did the princess island with Leslie, she got the golem of her favourite leader. She failed to protect him well and cried for his unfortunate fate. The original purpose of giving them a responsibility to protect someone was twisted. Following Rhys, she stepped onto the room well lit as well. The bright lights fended off the shadowlings effectively, the tendrils and claws they reached out at her jolted and retreated back into darkness. She took a few deep breathes to resume her own pace, a ground that looked completely flat and smooth but she knew it was full of traps. One mis-step, it could hurt badly before they even meet their princesses. She wasn't gonna to take risk this time, so she hopped after where Rhys stepped on, seeing he was doing alright so far. Behind the trainee, the petite hunter stuck out her tongue for the crafty action as a childhood habit. When she was just a little girl, she would do so whenever she made a mistake and felt bad for it. "Hmm -" she hesitated, "Sorry to disappoint you, but we're gonna guard our princesses to run down those stairs again." She made another move, saying in a more cheerful voice. "We'll be fine, we did it so good so far!" Status Stage: 2 Your HP: 25/ 50 Princess HP: not seeing them yet!/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: -Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag Stage 4 Bonus HP: -

Rhys groaned audibly when she told him their fate and he kept on moving, hoping he wouldn't set off a trap that would make everything go black. It was lucky this was only a training course, which likely meant that the most damage that could be done was knocking him out. Or at least he hoped that was the case. "So, these princesses..." he said as the exit to the room got closer and closer. He was walking slowly and carefully, with Zephira apparently snoozing in the background.
"They can look like anyone?"
The conversation helped to distract him from the seemingly perilous journey across the room. At one particular junction he was about halfway to taking a step when he noticed something a little...off...about the step directly in front of him. At it he narrowed his eyes and put his foot back, even crouched down to look at it a bit more closely before he got up and called back to her. "I think this particular spot's got a trap in it," he said and pointed down at the step in question in hopes that she'd be able to remember which step to avoid, then sidestepped it and carefully made the rest of the trek across to safe ground.
He was tempted to kiss it, but he didn't.Status Stage: 2 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag (adjusting roll one number up) and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

Shu hopped like a tiny bunny behind Rhys, "Hmm?" She stilled herself on a safe spot to answer his question. It was a weakness of her loving talking so much, really so much. Chirp chirp chirp. "True, the life tech are fully responsible for golems. If you're lucky, you might find princess golem of you and me." < Stop talking, silly! ********>!> Z warned the nth time since they entered the tower.
Shu luckily had good memory that she successfully avoid the spot he pointed at, but shortly when she stepped on a tile, she slipped and her hand touched a tile nearby. Hearing the sound of the triggered gimmick, she yelled at Rhys not to move an inch when arrows showered her from aside. The petite Death shrieked in sharp pain still managed to bring herself to a safe corner before her hammer disappeared when her shield broke.
The last thing Shu was thinking before she black out was how embarrassed it was to fail the course in front of a trainee. She wished she had a hole to bury herself as a death hunter who passed the Deathsweeper in one trial. She really needed to train more or she would shame Cael-sama. She also thought she owed Rhys an apology for starting over.........as she lost consciousness.

He watched in relative horror as Shu blacked out and slumped down to the floor of the booby-trapped room. He made haste and backtracked as best he could, picked her up when he got to her and carried her back out.
‹ Lot of good a more experienced hunter did you. ›
Shut it, Zeph. Not helping.
He heard her snort but acquiesce to his gruff request, and when he summoned her and hacked away at the shadowlings that tried to engulf them as he tried to descend those same stairs from earlier. Once safely outside he lay her down and waited beside her. She was breathing--he checked--so most of the worry had gone and he was simply waiting until she woke, at which point he got up and pointed back at the tower.
"You okay?" he asked as he got up. "If you are, I say we try again." He gave her a pat on the shoulder before he stepped toward the door and back inside the tower. No sooner did he summon Zephira once more, her runes offering the dimmest of lighting, did the wave of shadows rush at him again.Status Stage: 1 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

It wasn't the first one she was knocked out, and she knew it won't be her last. When she was still a trainee, she knocked herself out a lot using her charge. During her time on the island, one had to admit she already improved a lot. However, recently too many events took place on the island had she do less training than usual. That failure was simply an indication that she needed to pick up her training again, even Death hunters were not supposed to be at front line. < I warned you.> Retrieved her conscious, his voice was the first thing she sensed. "I'm alright, let's beat the tower this time!" She opened her eyes in dizziness and a migraine, shortly flashed him a brisk smile. Maybe they sense she was a better target than Rhys, the shadows swarmed her up again after they ascended the stairs for a short while. Hammer wasn't a good choice of weapon to use in such a confined space or she would detach and let the sphere swing around, ignoring the possibility she might hit the trainee. Thus, she had no alternatives but allowed the shadowlings to bite into her shield, pulling fear from it. The brunette did his best to keep up but the shadows practically ran them over, and he hacked and slashed away at them, a bead of sweat rolling down the side of his face as they slowly ascended the stairs. He glanced back and gritted his teeth at the sight of them swarming Shu the way that they did; her attacks seemed a bit more reckless then he figured she intended, but he didn't have time to think on that much. He could only dodge and slash and do his best to hold his own ground as the shadows came at him from all sides as well.
"Just a bit further!" he called out, more groaned, actually. He hoped to lift her spirits a bit, The landing was right there...Status Stage: 1 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

When she was busily brandishing her giant hammer in all the meanderings, she heard Rhys's encouragement. She, even not condescending, had her own pride of being a senior. That moment she heard of his voice, she wanted to dig a hole and hid up. She blamed why her hammer didn't know how to shrink like the anime she saw. < I'm not a ******** magical wand or something.> Z growled, runes flashed brightly for a second. Panting, she swung her hammer in big motions, scratching against the wall and knocked everything out of her way as she climbed up the stairs. She bit her lips and mustered up her energy to break the siege of the shadowlings to catch up with Rhys. "No worries, I can handle this." He gave a low whistle as he watched her swing that giant hammer, and he let himself be impressed for all of a second when she finally caught up to him. At her words he nodded and ventured forth into the trap-filled room, his grip on his weapon tightening as he took careful steps forward. Occasionally Rhys glanced back at Shu to see how she was doing; she'd stepped on a bad one earlier and he couldn't help but check up on her.
"So are all the other courses like this one?" he asked, wanting to keep himself from focusing on the fact that at any given point he could step on a trap that would knock him out cold. "Or is this about as bad as it gets?" Granted, he wasn't sure he even wanted to know the answer...Status Stage: 2 Your HP: 50/50 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag and one instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense

"Not really, one would be just playing jenga, one is similar to like and one requires you to build barrier......" She counted at the same time she mused. "There's the Deathsweeper with more deadly traps, but you'll be doing it in a golem." While answering Rhys's questions, she stared at the ground carefully for clues of possible traps. It was going well until she miscalculated. An opening appeared on the side of the wall, revealing a hammer even bigger than hers. Before she could react and used hers to push against it, it went into her fragile torso and sent her flying. The vibration took her consciousness and she black out for a second time. Before she could no longer sense anything, she heard the beast sighing. Sorry, Rhys. She failed again.
