Dessie had spent the entire day busking and had a decent haul to show for it. Something about warm fall days brought people out in droves, even more so on a weekend and being able to find a prime spot where the cops never chased her out meant her pockets weren't short on cash. It if had been like this when the blond had first arrived nearly a year ago then she might never have stayed… she sure as s**t never would have met Lily and Xander. Its because of that fateful day that she actually had a place to go back to, one she didn't need to pay for… at least not in anyway that was typical. Rather than in cash she payed in skill, naimly her fighting skill, not that Xander approved of her nearly nightly activities but since he did it too the tall redhead really had next to no room to complain. Besides as long as Dessie returned without much damage he was none the wiser and she was making the streets safer for those who lived on the streets. Sometimes when she was wandering the shadows looking for a fight the teen wondered just how many of the ‘forgotten’ were lost to the war between chaos and order. How many had their seeds stolen or their energy drained and they died from exposure, that doesn't even factor in youma or just plain getting hurt trying to escape from the madness of the night time shenanigans.
She was pulled from her darkening thoughts by a quiet whine. A thin dog lay half on and half off a hunched over figure buried under so many layers that telling the age or gender of the person was impossible. The dog looked up at her and whined again, his threadbare tail wagging weakly. Her steps slowed and then sped up as she ducked into a nearby fast food joint. Popping back out to the sidewalk she hurried back to the homeless person where she tucked a paper bag under a loose blanket before heading on her way. The poor sod would wake to find food for the next day if they were good with it, both them and the dog, and enough cash for a few more days of food. Dessie refused to think about how the cash was likely to be spent, she had spent long enough on the streets to know but she had the money from earlier. The blond shrugged off her thoughts and concentrated on weaving through crowds of people, avoiding even the brush of an arm against her.
