User Image According to her sources, her wayward uncle was somewhere out here. Somewhere being in and around the lowlands, but shouldn't be limited to just grasslands. Actually, the exact description she had gotten from her father had been so vague that it could literally have been translated to 'any where'. Worse still, she could put money down on the fact that it was highly likely her father had given her those kind of directions on purpose. While Penance deeply loved his younger brother, Tempest's determination to wipe out skinwalker kind was, well, a touch on the suicidal kind.

Thus, when she had stated she wanted to go and visit him, she had been met with her father's usual mixed back of diplomacy and wariness. Suffice to say that he didn't really think that his daughter should be going anywhere near his brother, but at the same time, the lowlands were somewhere she should explore and ultimately grow to love and enjoy. He had been very careful in what he had said to her because of this, and as such, she was stuck in a scenario of having been given an answer... but not really.

...And Adria really did not like 'not really' answers.

While Penance was capable of world class bullet dodging, Adria's realisation at what he had done when she finally came down here, had left her with a greater sense of determination. She would find her uncle, she would say hello to him, and then she would go 'ha!' to her dad, indicating that her tracking skills were up to standard (beat that, Sylph).

Unfortunately, for the time being she was at a bit of a loss because 'every where' was a bit of a large chunk of territory to cover. It was a needle in a haystack, and as it stood, the only way to even make progress, was to pick a location and start asking questions. In this respect, she knew exactly where to go and who to ask information from - she needed to find a hub of activity and she had done just that! She'd found the Kawani villages, parked herself in a convenient (but not exposed spot), and there she waited for travellers and 'outsiders' who might be of use to her.

...At least someone was bound to wander passed eventually and they may have at least heard of one or two stories that could put her on the right path!

Ealainonta, known as Ealy to friends and family, was feeling pretty darn good. It was a gorgeous day, the sun was shining...and he knew for a fact that several of the Kawani females were going to be out in the communal square, working on their weaving. It had taken time, but he'd finally reached the point where the Kawani of the nearby villages accepted his presence, dramatic as it was. When he was a small foal, he had darted around the fringes of the camps, trying to avoid notice. As he'd grown up, he'd become bolder and more confident, and he now strode through the villages without fear or concern. Between his vibrant coat and his cheery personality, he was a favorite of most of the Kawani he encountered; there were some who kept trying (unsuccessfully) to convince him to stay.

In his own way, he stayed. He was a regular visitor, spending hours chilling out and watching the Kawani work. He had never lost his childhood fascination with the Kawani ability to create, and his deepest regret was that he, with his clumsy hooves, couldn't do what they did. Oh well; at least he could watch...and share.

Grinning to himself at the prospect of new shinies to add to his collection, he made his way up the path towards the village. He did so love weaving day; while he appreciated all crafts, from hide sewing to quillwork to basket weaving to bead making, it was the thread weaving that most caught his attention and fueled his imagination. His first possession had been a scarf, and he'd quickly fetched more for his brother and sisters. Since then, he's scarf and blanket collection had grown; he was judicious in his choices, and took care not to take too much from any one person, or any one village. He got the impression that the Kawani didn't like to share that much, which was a pity; still, as long as they let him keep coming, he would accept their selfish ways.

He wasn't quite what she had been expecting; then again the mare wasn't sure exactly what she had anticipated when she entered the Kawani village. Most had kept their distance from her, but over the course of the morning they had settled. They no longer seemed to think that she was a risk, particularly when she stepped out of their way so that they could pass. Thus, it should have come at no surprise that he caught her attention; wandering around like he owned the place, Ealainonta was a vision of self confidence and something she couldn't quite put her hoof on.

...She needed a moment or two, possibly longer.

Unfortunately the gap was closing between them and while she had been largely 'invisible' in the shade, it wouldn't be long before he caught sight of her at close quarters. Sadly, she didn't blend in very well once gaps were closed, she had too much white on her and one mere blink of the sun would give her jewellery away.

Alas, a second moment would not be permitted, but she had at least managed to work out a small amount of what didn't quite seem to make sense. The closer the vibrant stallion drew, the more accessorized he seemed to be. It was subtle things at first, but every now and then he seemed to get a touch bulkier...almost as if...

As if...

She paused.

No way' was he nicking the human's possessions?

Ealy had never felt any shame about his 'collection.' Sure, the Kawani seemed to get animated from time to time when he appeared with a new item, and sometimes they tried to take them back. But since he brought things with him from one village to another and was sometimes willing to exchange one thing for another (within reason, of course!), he'd never had to deal with any true unpleasantness over his passion. If the Kawani kept certain things from his notice, he was none the wiser; if there were special projects squirreled away when he was spotted on the move, he wasn't about to be put out. He remained confident that one day, the true spirit of community and sharing would strike the Kawani and all things would be everyone's together!

It was a strange system he had, but it worked for him. He was able to indulge in his love for beautiful things, be a part of the creation process, and enjoy his time amidst the fascinatingly peculiar Kawani people. It would truly be a sad day if he had to turn his back on the villages; what would he do with himself then?

Today, Ealy was actually being sartorially restrained...for him. Instead of draping himself in numerous Kawani crafted items, he was only sporting a few accessories; his two current favorite scarves, a bracelet on his back leg, and the braided cord of bells he'd had since childhood. His mother had given him the start of his bell cord; time had seen the addition of multiple trinkets to the string, and it jingled merrily as he made his way along through life. Stealth was not a practice of his, and he'd long since given up any pretense of even trying.

But just because he was used to being seen didn't mean he was unobservant in turn. Practice and artfulness had helped him pick up the art of observation; he would have needed to be VERY distracted indeed to have missed the strange mare, one he'd never seen before but sported a lovely neck ornament of some kind. Whatever else her story, she had good taste!

Flicking his scarf end more securely over his neck, Ealy raised a wing to the mare in greeting. "Hello and good morning! If you've come to add to your necklet, you've come to a good place, but possibly on a bad day. They ought to be making fabrics today, not ornaments...but if you're looking to add a scarf, or a tie of some kind, I think you'll be pleased. These Kawani might have peculiar ways, but they're really good at making pretty things!" At that, he drew up alongside Adria, giving her a smile almost as bright as he was. "Or is it something else you're looking for?"
