Meris leaned back in the chair and threw the pen up at the ceiling again making sure to absent minded pet Polar when the fish floated over to get affection. Graduation was coming up really fast and Professor Lyra’s homework had got him thinking. He had answered the question truthfully at the time but it was also done to fulfill an Assignment. He really needed to think about what he wanted to do next.
Truthfully he had always just done whatever he felt like doing. In fact nothing really went as he planned it after all when he was sent to school he thought he would learn about history and about how the mind worked and follow in his family’s footsteps. However there had been a mistake and instead of getting sent into Eldritch Meris had been assigned to Arkham, and as they say the rest was history.
It was where he met Morin, and the two bonded over music. Meris wanted to cheer Morin up after his girlfriend at the time dumped him and ended up writing Morin a song. It was what he was singing at the time that a scout overheard him and he ended up getting scouted. From there after a lot of other hardships, including a hospital trip and missing out a year, he was now a Music idol.
However he was old enough that he seriously needed to start thinking about his life choices because this was it. It was time to go to university and see about his future. What could he do that would bring in enough money to support him and whatever family he would have? It was only a matter of time until Adora convinced him that they should start a family together. He could tell she was just waiting until he joined them Then again hadn’t he already answered it in class. Was it truthful enough for him to actually go through with that he put on paper?
He would go to Grendel because Music was his life. It had brought him everything and he wanted to explore that. He wanted to bring it to the world and continue the band and singing, and maybe one day when he was too old he could use the degree and teach Music to inspire other younger artists to pursue their dreams. Perhaps he could even come back here to the academy to teach.
Which only furthered his belief that he should at least continue on to University as teaching required degrees and if for some odd reason singing failed him he wanted something to fail back on. He actually did like studying and learning new things. One just had to look at his Electives over the years for that, so more schooling didn’t really bother him however. It would just be something interesting that came next after all. From that decision on it was way easier because there was only one place to keep pursuing Music and like he told Professor Lyra that meant he was and would go to Grendel.
