Prompt:
"I'm so sooooOOOOOORRRY." Came the wailing of a tiny and bright freshling as she held onto their siblings hand, squeezing it occasionally as her wailing grew in volume. It was her fault they were lost! It had all been Kadali's idea to not only enter the haunted house, but also alone. Without the caretakers. Originally, it had been a fun game! Hide in a dark room, get lost, and enjoy the atmosphere! But now it was going on three hours and neither could find the exit, and now Kadali had crumbled into a wailing mess as she clutched Baum's hand tightly.
"We're going to DIE here!" Came the erratic cry. Oh yes, she was certain this was the end!
Baum had a weakness for supernatural things, so it was really easy for Kadali to drag him off to the haunted house. Then Kadali had wanted to explore more without other people around. It wasn’t really a haunted house, right? He had heard older seniors talking about how they just set these places up for scares. So, against the nagging thought in his brain, he had agreed to go with Kadali and hide in a dark room. The only thing was, the way out had locked some time while they were exploring and now they couldn’t get out. Kadali had lost it, Baum didn’t blame her. He wanted to lose it too, but Kadali needed him to be strong and hold it together and so he was going to stay strong… well, only after he kicked that door down.
"We’re not going to die. I refuse to die. There has to be some way out of this house.” Baum stated, glaring at the door. It was probably a good thing he was a little tyke, as he would so burn that door down for spiting him in such a fashion. No, he was losing it. Kadali needed him. He needed to take deep breaths. Deep breaths. Wait, did the floor boards just creak?
"But we ARE. Like in the mooooOOOOVIES." She shrieked as she held his hand tightly, the other hand wiping at her tears. This was the end, forever! They would be found dead by morning! At least she was dying with her twin…. but still! She was too young! Her wings flapped uselessly behind her as she clutched onto Baum, her whimpering and wailing growing louder until….
She suddenly stopped, going dead silent as she heard the floorboards creak. A minute passed and then, abruptly, she began wailing, this time louder.
"This is it! This IS IT! THE MONSTER IS COMING TO EAT US!"
Maybe it would have been a Flitterat, or some other familiar. However it sounded big and it obviously wasn’t a caretaker or someone looking for them because their names weren’t being called. So, before it got any closer to the door Baum let go of Kadali’s hand to move anything he could in front of the entrance. He wished he was bigger so that he could move the couch but he was still a little guy. Should he try one of the other exits or did he wait to see if it was just a Flitterrat? What could he do? He needed to watch after Kadali. It was only them and they got picked on enough for being different….
Suddenly there was a loud screech and the creaking of the floorboards seemed to run off in the other direction. Okay, he needed to get out of this room.
“The seniors lied!"
Whimpering, Kadali squeaked as her hand was let go, raising it to rub at her face as she watched her brother. She watched him fuss around, looking around with her wings flat against her body.
"W-we're gon-nna die." She hiccuped, waddling over to the nearest corner before placing her hand on the wall. Suddenly, the wall gave way and Kadali yelped as she fell into…. the hallway?! Was the wall thin?! No… it looked like a secret door! She watched the wall flip back into place, leaping up to bang her hand against the wall.
"Baum?! Are you dead? Baum?!"
Baum had turned around at the sound of Kadali hiccuping just in time for the wall to give way and for the house to eat Kadali. His little eyes practically bugged out and he made a noise a strangled cat would have been proud of as he watched his sister disappear. Forgetting the evil creaky floorboards, Baum ran over and started kicking the wall.
“You stupid house you didn’t have to eat her. Why did you eat her?!" Since there was no one to be strong for any more he started sobbing. He only had his sister and this… this house was starting to sound like her?
"Kadali?! Are you okay? No I’m not dead!" Yeah, well that was embarrassing! It was probably one of those silly secret room things haunted houses where supposed to have.
"I'm fine!" She squeaked back, her tears drying as she realized she could get out now. No! Not without Baum! Stomping her foot in frustration, the mutated Chimera jerked her head to look around the hallway, wings fluttering.
"Hellllllooooo?" She called out before turning back to the wall, smacking her hand against it. "Baum! Touch the wall where I did!"
Touch the wall where she had been? Where was that again? He had admittedly been somewhat distracted at the time. Was that it? No… was it there? No… and then things got even worse as the running creaky floorboards started up again towards the door that he had blocked. There was a very loud bang, like something had collided with a door and low growling followed. Baum tried palming the wall more frantically but nothing seemed to be working.
Oh, whelp, looked like he was going to get eaten this time. Well at least Kadali would be safe on the other side of the door. However as the door he had closed off started to open his hand hit the lever for the secret hallway and the trap door flipped open, Baum quickly fell through it and let out a small gulp as the door closed just in time for whatever had gotten into that room to go smashing into it.
“We’re running away from that door right now… now… now!” Baum stated, grabbing his sister's hand again and quickly walking down the hallway.
Kadali made a move to catch her brother, instead jumping when Baum grabbed her hand and began walking down the hallway. Hurriedly following after, the young mutant almost tripped as suddenly, with a loud shrieking following, she heard whatever was inside the room smash through a wall and charge for them.
"RUN!" She cried out, pulling on his hand as it was now her time to lead the way! She yanked him down the stairs, surprising herself with, as if the hours of being lost didn't matter, she seamlessly ran down the halls and down the stairs, stopping at the first floor. Was it still following them?! Was the exit nearby?!
It… it… barreled though the wall! Oh my Nine, what in the world was it? No, Baum didn’t want to find out, he wanted Kadali and himself as far away from that house as possible. Seniors lied; they were nasty lying liars. There was no way that was a prank or something trying to scare them. Things didn’t just bust through the wall and sound that scary. Besides who would be that mean as to take any prank this far?!
“Running! Definitely running!” In fact he wasn’t sure that they had ever moved that fast before. Luckily they were now on that first floor again, and oh was that the tour group from earlier? They would just slip inside that ring of all those nice big adults and they would be safe right? Well provided they kept thinking Kadali’s and Baum’s wings were part of their costume again.
And slip inside they did! Kadali tugged her brother into the group, trembling as she pulled herself against him. That was the worst! She had been about to warn the other people about the monster when suddenly she heard laughter, eyes trailing to the stairs to see…. seniors?
"Wow! They ran so fast!"
"You think we scared 'em good?"
"I think so! Did you hear those screams?!"
"
What….?!" Kadali turned to Baum, tugging his arm with a horrified gasp. "They were scaring us!" She almost screeched, pointing at the seniors. "They did it!!"
Baum had gone silent – deathly silent by the end of their laughter. In fact, the more they spoke the more tunneled his vision became. It had tunneled so horribly that all he could see was the seniors and red. All of the rage turned red. Before he realized what he was doing he had marched over to them and swung his tail filled with all those lovely spikes right into the nearest seniors shin. Luckily he did file them to keep his tail from being overly sharp but he was pretty sure that smack hurt.
“How dare you make Kadali cry! She was terrified and you did it all for fun. The moaning, and growling, and floor creaking, howling and the door being forced open and that poor wall was all fun?! You are terrible people!" “Wait… wait… Howling. We never did any howling…” “No I thought that was you….” “Wait you mean that wasn’t you guys?”
It was about then that the overhead lights exploded, sending the first floor into darkness. Sure enough, seconds later the house was filled with an eerie loud howling noise. Baum turned around to look at the seniors but their eyes had grown wide and seconds later they were bolting out of the haunted house.
“I’m not going to fall for thi-” Baum never got to answer because a caretaker had finally broken out of the previous circle of adults and grabbed his and Kadali’s hand. The look on her face was not something he wanted to see on an adult, especially an adult he wanted to protect him! Oh… well… hmmm. As he was being lead to safety he could have sworn there were glowing eyes at the top of the stairs.

Prompt: [The twins got lost in a haunted house! How do they get out? Are they scared? Did they get lost on purpose? How do they find their caretaker?]
Somewhere along the line, the plan hadn’t gone quite right. Dawn wasn’t exactly sure exactly at what point their awesome idea had gone awry, but it kind of had. She was pretty sure at first that they’d made the right turn to hid behind the table cloth she’d seen and jump out when their caretaker came looking for them, but the layout of the haunted house was apparently a bit more confusing than she had originally thought. “...Maybe it’s that door?” She suggested, reaching to give Dusk’s claw a squeeze. not that she was scared or anything. Not that she’d admit anyway. But if their caretaker came looking for them obviously it would be bad if they got scared. Yes. That was it. That was exactly it.
Dusk was much less restrained than her sister about her fear, clinging to the other freshling’s claw and whimpering quietly. Being silly and scaring their caretaker had seemed like an utterly brilliant idea at first, but the more lost they got, the more she regretted walking away. At least she had her twin, but it was still so big and so scary...
"O-okay, let's try," she said, looking around nervously to see if she could find anything else that might lead them back. There didn't seem to be, so she just pressed more up against her twin, trying not to cry.
Dusk’s fear didn’t help Dawn much as far as keeping her composure, though she did her best, she counted on the dim lighting to hide the waver in her smile. She was Dawn, her sister needed her to shine brightly. right? “I mean it’s all super f-fake right?” She insisted, trying to add a laugh to the end, but it came out a bit shakier than she was hoping. But if she could convince Dusk she could convince herself.
Dusk tried to smile back at Dawn, but it was even wobblier than her sister's. She was always the shyer one, less brave and more needy. But that was okay - they were together and they could totally do anything, right? "Y-yeah, mega fake," she agreed, mostly to reassure herself. "I-I bet we're gonna be in big trouble though, for running off."
“I’ll um… tell them we were just trying to find the entrance.” Dawn improvised nervously. “O...or say we got spooked and bolted.” Which was a lot closer to the truth right now than she wanted to admit. Especially knowing there were other nightmares somewhere in this building waiting to scare them, and eerie noises, creaking and groaning and piped in music that set the nerves on the back of your neck on end. Were there footsteps approaching? Maybe she was imagining it, maybe it was the soundtrack. It was deliberately hard to tell and that was making it kind of worse.
Dusk nodded. “I-I guess,” she said, “I mean, I hope so!” Surely that would be enough! She pressed a little closer to Dawn, and the sound of footsteps made her jump and squeak. “T-that was just part of the show, right?” She asked, eyes wide. It had to be, it just had to be. But they seemed to be getting closer, and louder, and then --
“Hey, what are you kids doing back here?” The voice didn’t sound angry, in fact it sounded fairly comforting, but Dusk still wailed and leapt to cling to her sister, built-up terror making a monster of the worker coming to collect them.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” There was a lot of formerly bottled up terror in that scream, and it came uncorked like a bottle of shaken soda, and brought with it an unfortunate amount of reckless, directionless flailing of both tail and claws at anything not her sister. Their well meaning escort said something that probably wasn’t intended for their ears as Dawn’s head collided with his face, and when they were carefully, and gingerly escorted outside to the welcoming, scolding arms of their care takers, the long suffering litch was already starting to develop an impressive black and blue across his cheekbones, and Dawn was sporting a embarrassed, shaken blush at least as bright.

Username 1: Lavender Hues Twin: Blueberry Almond (Bailey)
Username 2: Koiasi Twin: Strawberry Banana (Hailey)
Prompt:
It had been a little while since the twins had lost sight of their caretaker, and Hailey took the opportunity to wander around, tugging her brother along. "Let's go there!" She pointed toward the large dark mansion styled house. "I bet it'll be fun!" She gave her brother an almost wicked grin and before even waiting for his opinion she bolted that direction, "Better catch up or you'll lose me!"
Bailey knew the very second that they had left their caretaker's side the Hailey would think of something wild to do. He held onto a little bit of hope at first as she tugged him around that she would spot some candy and be content with that, but instead of candy, the complete opposite had grabbed her attention. He tried to pull her back instinctively, but found that he'd already lost her, and hurried after her with a huff.
"Hailey, wait! That doesn't look like a safe place!" He called, trudging after his sister.
Hailey reached the large double doors and didn't even give it a second thought to push them open and emerge into the dark room. She grinned, her eyes glancing around. She knew that her caretaker, nor Bailey, would have ever let her do this if they had had a say, which meant that this was perhaps her best plan yet! She continued in further and heard Bailey step inside and then the doors shut on their own with a large creak. Her eyes lit up, "Isn't this amazing! Look at all the spooky decorations!"
Amazing? Bailey scrunched his nose up. He could think of a million things that were more amazing than this. ... Still, he had to agree that the decorations were nice, even if they were scary. He nudge himself closer to Hailey as the doors closed behind them and reached out for her hand.
"Come on, Hailey, let's find the way out of this place." He said, glancing around. "Our caretaker's going to be really mad when they find out we've been here, you know. This is for big kids only!"
Hearing his statement, she half growled, "No it's not!" She took her hand from his, giving him a glare that would have been much more intimidating if the room wasn't quite so dark. "We're plenty big enough for this!"
After saying that, she took off again, wandering down a dank hall. She didn't even look to see if he was following her. So when she started to hear shuffling behind her, she frowned, "If you think we aren't old enough to be here than why don't you just leave?" When she glanced back she noticed no one was there, had she imagined it? Frowning, she shook her head and continued on, hearing more shuffling. "That isn't funny, Bailey.." As she looked back this time, there was a creature coming closer with glowing red eyes, blood pouring from it's mouth.
"Miiinnnneeee..." It whispered, half dragging it's foot along the ground. Hailey couldn't help but notice a gleam in it's hand, indicating a rather large knife that was splattered with blood.
Hailey swallowed and couldn't suppress the scream coming from her throat. "BAILEY! HELP ME!"
Once again, Bailey reached out to nab his sister before she could run off, and failed miserably. The Chimera growled and sucked a few hot headed words back into his chest with a breath. Hailey had no idea what she was doing, why couldn't she see that? He couldn't wrap his head around it! He stamped his foot.
"Hey! Where did you go?" He called, thumping down the hall after Hailey. "... Ew, this hallway smells like my socks after gym clas-"
"BAILEY! HELP ME!"
Bailey had never felt his legs lock and accelerate as fast as they had in that hallway, but his sister's cries for help had sent him into a bit of blind spot. He skidded to a halt when he finally saw her on the other side of the hallway and took a deep breath in.
"HEY! MONSTER! LOOK OVER HERE!" He screamed, taking one of his shoes off and chucking it at the back of the monster. "Leave my sister alone!"
As the shoe clattered to the ground, the monster's eyes shifted toward Bailey for the briefest second. It's grin became larger showing several rows of sharp teeth as it extended it's knife and sent it spiraling down toward Hailey. "Miiiinnnneeee..." It cooed in an almost gleeful way.
Hailey's screams echoed through the hall as she braced herself to be impaled. Was that it? Was her life already over? In an instant, she felt several hands grabbing her, pulling at her limbs just enough that the knife embedded itself in the wall. The creature let out a scream of lust and then suddenly just disappeared as if it had never been there in the first place.
Hailey's eyes opened when she realized that the hands that grabbed her were coming from the very floor itself, pulling and tugging until she was moved through the wall as if it were never solid and felt herself descending into a deep hole. "Bailey!" She tried to reach out toward her brother. Her calls were desperate, frantic, trying to get him to help before she was pulled in.
"NO, not yours!" Bailey screamed, throwing himself toward the monster with all his might. However, instead of the backside of a malicious creature, Bailey's face met the harsh reality that was the musty carpet on the floor. He scrambled up to his feet, rubbed his cheek, and gasped as his sister being dragged into the floor! What, in the name of Nine, was this awful place?
"Hold on, Hailey! I've got you!" He cried, latching onto her hand and tugging upward. "I won't let this house take you away!"
Despite Bailey's help, his sister found herself still being pulled into the ground, and as she clung to him, she realized he was being pulled along with her! "Bailey..." There were tears in her eyes now. "I don't... I don't want to die..." She felt the liquid run down her cheek and then suddenly.. everything stopped. She blinked, her eyes gazing upward as she noticed that the two of them were still in the same hall and a small flicker of light was coming from a door. She blinked and pointed to it. "Do you think... maybe it's the way out...?"
Bailey dug his ankles into the ground as hard as he could, but couldn't ignore the fact that he was slipping as well. He looked helplessly to Hailey and fought the urge to let go so her could wipe her tear away. However, just as he was going to say that they weren't going to die and everything was going to be fine, it was instantly over. The Chimera found himself on his rump, his arms sore from all the tugging, and looked to the door through squinting eyes.
"It's worth a shot, Hailey! Come on!" He exclaimed, latching onto Hailey's arm and pulling her toward the door.
For the first time, Hailey found her herself being pulled toward the door. She wiped some of her tears away with her free hand and scurried behind her brother. As the door swung open, she was surprised to see that they were in the exact same entrance they had come through to enter the house. Had her perception of the building been that turned around? When the fresh air met her lungs she smiled and sniffled slightly.
"There you guys are!" Hailey saw their caretaker approach her, "You guys didn't go in there, did you?" He gave them a look that said they better not have.
Hailey just grinned. "Yeah! And it was so much fun! We should go again!" She tugged on Bailey's hand, her vibrancy returning to her smile. She had to admit, it was scarier than what she thought it would be, but that was what made Halloween so awesome! Hopefully next year it would be just as scary!
