Lenore stared toward the corner where Elesh Norn had vanished, almost seeing the darkrai smiling at her. She moved a hand up to her right eye, rubbing the tears out of it. She forced a sad smile.
"It didn't work, Ellie." She spoke to the imaginary darkrai before her.
"I remember you again." She swallowed as the tears threatened to fall again.
"I miss you...!" She exhaled a shuddering breath.
"I, uh, I'm a lot stronger, now. I understand why you did what you did. Maybe it's best that I didn't remember until now." Tears welled in her eyes again, but she made no move to halt them.
"I've made lots of new friends, since you left." She choked back a sob, the smile faltering.
"But it's not the same as having you with me, you know...? You were so good to me, and I never thanked you properly." She wiped the tears out of her eyes, and took a deep breath.
"I know you wouldn't want me to dwell on it forever. So, thank you, Ellie. Thank you so, so much."The girl got up from the simple wooden table and walked over to the corner, her watery eyes on the darkrai she was seeing in her heart. She tried to force another smile, but failed to get it fully complete.
"I love you." A noise behind her drew her attention away, and Elesh Norn vanished. A book had fallen off the shelf, and Lenore walked over to it and picked it up. The book had opened upon hitting the ground, and she was about to close it when a certain passage stuck out to her.
....the Pumpkin Festival was originally arranged to commemorate those lost. Usually held at the end of the harvest, it was a time to honor the spirits of people and pokemon alike. With a display of revelry, it showed the departed that life continues on without them, and not to worry about those they left behind....
Lenore scanned the following pages regarding the pumpkin festival.
"This... this is it...!" The girl murmured. She decided then and there that she would start her own Pumpkin Festival.
She owed that much to Ellie.
