Quinn had to think that the party was a success since there were dozens of people milling about, playing in the pool, chatting in the hot tub, and just chilling. With around a week of planning it turned out pretty good if he did say so himself; mostly because of his folks. They were good enough to let him host this surprise party at their house and even the staff pitched in to get everything ready. The pool room had been decked out in multicolored streamers and balloons, banners hung against the walls and party theme decals were stuck on the giant windows providing the view into the expansive back yard of the house. No other indoor pool would have such a view... a large expanse of grass interspersed with flower beds and trees and a deck to match. Even with the season turning most of the leaves were green and only the slight n** in the air proved it was september. Not that anyone cared about the weather in the warm steamy room; between the sun, the pool, the hot tub, and the countless bodies Quinn was even tempted to open the french doors leading to the deck to help cool the place down.
"Here." Quinn glanced down at the cup full of punch that was offered by his father. Like his son the sandy haired man was dressed in pool shorts, a tshirt, and flipflops... all damp which meant he had to have gotten out of the water a little while ago. Quinn smiled and took the disposable cup with a murmured thanks but he nearly dropped it with his dad's next comment.
"She looks almost as good as your mother in that outfit." The subtle nod in the direction of Delilah left Quinn with no questions about who his father was talking about.
"For God's sake dad! Seriously?" Quinn choked out. Both horrified and slightly proud that his father just compared his girlfriend to his mother via hotness. It was true that his mom had, as they say, 'aged very well' it was still kind of disturbing that his dad made that comment... and about his girlfriend as well.
"Just saying," the older man hid his smirk behind his glass as he surveyed the party around him. With a sigh he lowered his glass and eyed his son again. "So you ask her yet? You might want to get a move on if you haven't. You don't actually have all day you know, not if she will have the time she needs."
"How much time would she need? Its not like its difficult to toss a few things into a suitcase and head out." Quinn studied the cream colored tile down at his feet. He still had a small part of him that wondered if his birthday present to Delilah was a good idea... something warned him that he might not get the reaction he was hoping for.
"You would be surprised son, you would be surprised." This time Quinn's dad didn't bother to hide his smile and with a friendly pat on Quinn's back the older man headed off in the direction of the other, older adults. He liked Delilah and he hoped his clueless son didn't piss her off because if the feisty young lady was anything like Quinn's mother then his son was going to have a hell of time.... and he, Quinn's father, was going to be laughing his a** off the entire time.
