gaia_star [ The garden ]: This area is a beautiful garden, but from it rises a tree, spanning high, high above you. The garden itself is overflowing with opulent green, it is strange to see so much nature mixed in with knowledge and yet, it makes so much sense to you as to why.

The garden itself is supported and maintained by swathes of Infected. The maintain their human forms and lumber around in a zombie-like state. They all wear grey coats.

(Roll 1d4 if you wish to interact with them - OPTIONAL - and match your dice roll to the results below. You can roll as much as you'd like!)

1. This infected is long not there. They keep on repeating I'm sorry over and over again. Occasionally, they will water the plants with a non-existent watering can, but most of the time they simply curl up and cry to themselves, rocking themselves back and forth. Their name reads Bekki Shae.

2. The infected seems to be surprisingly in good human shape, other than the top of its head and brain replaced entirely with fungus. It doesn't seem capable of thought, but is curious about you, following you everywhere and sometimes mimicking your actions. In it's pocket is a vial that is glowing red, opening it seems to make the liquid dissolve rapidly. The name on their nametag reads Glen Barrett.

3. The infected seems to have lost it's entire lower half, replaced by vines that slowly idle forward and backwards in uneven clumps. Occasionally, it falls, and then the vines pull its torso back up and tilt its head back to normal. It seems to be stuck holding something in the air, though the something it was holding is long gone, as it just pantomimes the action. The name on their nametag reads Dave Adolph.

4. The infected seems to carry itself with an air of importance even now. Their entire face is missing, replaced by blooming corpse blossoms instead. It smells terribly, though it doesn't seem too interested in talking to you. Occasionally it makes clicking noises, and you are able to translate it int words. Things like "she shouldn't have" and "the sacrifice was too great". Its nametag is missing.

He hadn't expected to find a garden among the pool of knowledge, but it was pleasant discovery and it just kind of fit for some reason. He welcomed the sight of it. However, even more surprising was the infected present in the garden.

Though human in shape, they had long lost that spark that made them human and now only lumbered around, in what looked like a blank stupor. It was a pitiful sight really, but none seemed to pose a threat. So he drew closer, curious to meet each individual, After all, it was the first sort of encounter he had with well--that unconscious human he helped free.

Approaching the first, he noted that only the top half was still whole. Its lower body was gone, replaced by vines that allowing it to walk--or rather stumble around. The second thing he realized was the name tag.

Dave Adolph? He called mentally, but got no response. It stumbled now and then, falling, only for the vines to pick it back up again, and each time, it would reach up as if it was holding something. Though there was clearly nothing in it's hand.

Moving on from Dave, he continued to wander through the garden until he came across a particularly strange individual. Though in surprising good shape for an infected, this one was... how to say it? Odd. With a head literally full of fungus, it didn't really appear as though it was processing much thought, if any at all, and yet, still followed him about and mimicked his every move.

At first it was amusing, but after the first while, it started to get annoying. Now he just wanted to be rid of the pest.

He paused in his step, turning to look at the--thing, he noted the name tag that read 'Glen Barrett', before reaching carefully for the vial that was in its pocket. Glen didn't seem to care, but he also reached out to him. After all, he seemed quite fond on mimicking him like some chimpanzee. With no sign of the other stopping him, he gently opened vial and was surprised when the liquid vaporized almost instantly. What was it? He wondered.

Giving he slip to Glen, he approached the third infected he came across. This one however, though missing its entire face and smelling of rot and decay, it still came off as important. How strange, that such an arrogant air still remained, even after death. It made him curious.

The closer he approached, the stronger the smell became, and he almost chose to turn away, until he heart the soft clicking noises. He paused, listening intently, mentally translating the sounds into words.

Who is she? He asked, chancing a step closer. What was it she scarified? It gave no answer, so he backed away again, belatedly noticing the lack of name tag on the individual.

How strange though. This was the second time 'she' had been mentioned.

Somewhere along the way, Glen had found him again and he picked up his pace in an attempt to lose the simple minding individual.

His first attempt proved to be a failure. Glen was determined to follow him around.

Having enough, he spun around, mentally yelling for Glen to leave him be, but the infected creature merely continued to mimic him.

How frustrating.

At last, after a final last ditch effort, he finally managed to get rid of him, and immediately headed for the gardens exit.

However, just as he was about to pass through the entrance, he noticed one more. They were clearly not right in the head, as they repeated over and over, that they were sorry, and moved about the garden with its non existing watering can.

Curious, he approached them. But just as he was about to ask them what they were sorry for, 'Bekki Shae' as the name tag read, curled into a ball and began rocking back and forth; sobbing to theme self. Unable to get them to speak any other words, he left the garden; no longer having the desire to remain.
